December 3-9, 2012 Casino Carnival, Panjim, Goa, India PLAYER S Booklet

Message from CASINO CARNIVAL Casino Carnival is very proud to be chosen as the new venue for the leading poker tour in Asia, APT. We are very excited to host the very first Asian Poker Tour Main Event to be held in India which also coincides with the conclusion of the APT Player of the Year. Coincidently it also marks the re-launch of our brand new card room which is bigger and better to facilitate such a prestigious event. Poker, over the last couple of years has vastly grown in popularity and is fast becoming the number one card game played in India. APT deciding to host their final leg of the tour on board Casino Carnival is the icing on the cake. Poker players from India have also been busy making a name for themselves overseas, by winning numerous international events, giving themselves a great chance for the jewel in the crown by capturing the APT Player of the Year title on home soil. It is also a great honour for Casino Carnival to be part of this poker history. We look forward in welcoming players from all around the world and showing them the very best Goan hospitality for which we are the leading brand. I would lastly like to wish all players the very best of luck during APT, Goa. Shyam Haridas Director Sales and Marketing

Message from APT CEO ALL ABOUT INDIA On behalf of everyone at the Asian Poker Tour, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to APT s last stop for this year, APT India 2012. It is good to be back in India; it s good to return to Goa and it is good to be staging another APT event at a new venue, Casino Carnival. The entire APT team is excited at staging our best event yet! Our tournament would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of the management and staff of Casino Carnival Goa, and we are looking forward to a long and successful relationship with this very impressive venue moving forward. To all our players, thank you for your continued support. 2012 had been a very busy year and it looks like 2013 will be equally exciting. Our continued growth would not be possible without your considerable support from a growing army of players which we are very grateful. Equally though, I hope it indicates that APT is doing its part in terms of giving players exactly what they want when it comes to true poker tournament action! I wish you all the best of luck and see you at the tables! Jeff Mann Chief Executive Officer Asian Poker Tour As the seventh largest country in the world, India covers 3,166,414 square kilometres in area. Its northern frontiers are largely defined by the Himalayan Mountain Range, which borders it from Bhutan, Nepal and China. In the far northeast, India is separated from Burma by Chin Hills and Kachin Hills while in the eastern part, the Khasi Hills and Mizo Hills serve as India s border with Bangladesh. TIME GMT +5:30 hours LANGUAGE Standard Hindi is the official language of Republic of India, while English stands as the second official language. There are actually official languages in different states of India, some of which are not recognizedby the central government. It is the central government which decided to make Hindi as the official language of India and its states after their independence had been declared. CLIMATE There are four seasons in India: winter, summer, monsoon (rainy) and post-monsoon. Winter season can be felt during the months of January and February. The average temperature in northwest parts of the country during these months is approximately 50-59 F (10-15 C) while in the southeast parts, the temperature is at approximately 68-77 F (20-25 C). Summer season, on the other hand, is during the months of March to May. The average temperature in the inland areas of India during this season is approximately 90-104 F (32-40 C). Monsoon or rainy season refers to the months from June to September. This is a four-month period when the moist southwest summer heavy rainfall dominates the country s weather. Lastly, the Postmonsoon season is prevalent from October to December. During this season, the retreating monsoon brings cool, dense and dry Central Asian air which masses the large part of the country. WHAT TO WEAR In the large cities and areas of India, tourists can get along with their less conservative outfits. This means that people can go bare their knees and shoulders but definitely not much more than that to avoid too much attention from the crowd. In holy sites and small towns, it is recommended to wear conservative clothing. Exposing some skin is not okay in conservative areas of India. Best to bring comfortable clothes which suit the season and the area/s which one prefer to visit. Currency Indian Rupee (INR) is the official currency of India. Roughly 1 US dollar is equivalent to 50 INR. Almost all currencies can be changed at hotels, banks and authorized exchange dealers located around the cities of India. Most credit cards are accepted at many hotels, shops and restaurants. ELECTRICITY Electricity in India is at 220V, 50Hz. To use devices with 110 volt currency, one must need a plug adapter and voltage converter. On the other hand, devices with 230 volt in currency will require plug adapter only. India has a standardised plug which is very hard to find outside the country. It is recommended to just buy an adapter there. Best thing to do is to check first before using an electrical appliance or device.

Chang, Le Roux, Del Prado, Peng, Cua, Allain, Arce, and Timoshenko. Now household names in the Asian poker scene after their respective memorable victories in the most prestigious poker event in Asia --- the APT Main Event. Who will follow their footsteps this year? Who will be crowned the next champion of the Asian Poker Tour? CARLOS CHANG Macau 2012 US$246,689 Carlos Chang is currently ranked as the number one Taiwanese poker player in terms of cashes in Asia, winning US$285,683. The final table that was set for APT Macau 2012 was one of the toughest final tables known to the poker world, featuring the likes of Martin Nilsson, Samad Razavi, Tom Alner and runner up Winfred Yu. But when the smoke cleared Carlos emerged as Champion; and because of his crowning, that cash was responsible for over 70% of his earnings, awarding him US$246,689.

ENRIQUE DEL PRADO Philippines 2011 US$179,260 MICHAEL CUA Philippines 2010 US$176,700 NEIL ARCE Philippines 2009 US$185,000 When Enrique del Prado Jr made Asian poker history last year, it meant that the APT Philippines title would go to a local player for the third time in a row. Despite having no cashes in major tournaments before his big win, Del Prado rose to victory over a field of 231 players. He has since kept a fairly low poker profile, only appearing in smaller tournaments, but perhaps that will soon change A year after a local held the bragging rights for the APT Philippines Main Event; another Filipino in Michael Cua duplicated his compatriot s feat by winning the first leg of the APT in 2010. The unassuming Filipino had zero major international win or experience before the APT stint. But after his big heist in Manila, he has jumpstarted his poker career to greater heights. The rise of local poker in the Philippines was simultaneous with the rise of Filipino Neil Arce from the ranks as one of the best not only in the Philippines but in the entire Asia. Nicknamed Dirty Ice Cream, he s the first-ever Filipino to cash-in on a WSOP event but his first-ever international title in the APT 2009, where 263 players joined, affirmed his status as one of the serious contenders in the business. Divan Le Roux Philippines 2012 US$197,000 South Africa s Divan Le Roux made his cash debut on the Asian tournament circuit when he placed fourth in the APT Accredited Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event in December 2011 for over US$10,000. However, that proved to be just an appetizer before the main course of winning the APT Philippines 2012 Main Event just a few months later. Le Roux rose to the top from a field of 254 players, eventually making the heads up contest an all South African affair when he defeated fellow countryman Conrad Coetzer. ZHANG DAN PENG Macau 2010 US$215,000 The 18-year-old from Guangzhou, China was just accompanying a friend who was joining the main event and had no original plans of playing. But after winning a main event seat via a satellite, he found himself going all the way to the APT Macau title beating the field of 161 runners. Not bad for a teenager who had zero experience in major tournaments before the Macau tilt. ADRIEN ALLAIN Macau 2009 US$391,242 Already successful behind the screen, the online specialist from France had already 45 in-the-money finishes and made the final table 26 times in 321 tournaments at www.pkr.com. But transforming his success from the virtual felt to real tables but was one story that would go down as one of the most inspiring in APT history. YEVGENIY TIMOSHENKO Macau 2008 US$491,175 Known as Bballer88 and Jovial Gent in the online world, this US-based Ukrainian was considered one of the upand-comers before his APT stint. Two years and handful of major tournaments later, he has crossed over from being just a promising potential to a full blown poker star. 257 players registered for the first APT Macau tournament.
