Our music and art departments have been busy preparing wonderful shows for you to enjoy! Later this month, the District Art Show will open at The Milton House. Dozens of Northside artists will be featured along with artists from other schools in our district. I am always excited to see art on display and hope you all find a time to take your families through to enjoy the show. Our fifth graders will be performing a patriotic show for families on March 16. You ll be impressed with their singing skills! Finally, our 6th grade band and choir will hold their second concert of the year on March 23. They have worked hard and will be certain to provide an entertaining pops concert for our community that evening. The arts enrich our students educational experiences and we are very proud to offer so many rich opportunities for Milton s students related to visual and performing arts. As you reflect on your past experiences, you may remember a music program from your youth, or a certain art project you enjoyed. Take a moment and share those memories with your students. They will likely enjoy hearing about them! Many of you proudly display your student s artwork and encourage them to try their best in music and art. NIS Students are SOARing Into Spring! Hello March! Northside is excited to share that we have implemented a SURGE week during each of the coming months. During the week of March 13-17, NIS staff will be extra vigilant in our efforts to notice students SOARing. With this in mind, Spring provides a great opportunity to SOAR to new Organizational heights! Why not consider setting a mini goal one week this month? Who knows, cleaning up, organizing, or prioritizing could be the first step in starting something even bigger. Pick a week, state your goal, share your goal, post your goal! It can be easy and fun. Ideas include 1) writing and using a daily to do list 2) spending a few minutes each day organizing an area of your choice (back pack, room, play area) 3) Using positive self talk 4) reminding yourself to take a deep breath and to smile everyday.no limits to the possibilities! You got this, SPRING into action and START SOMETHING! Human Growth and Development information was shared at the last FON meeting and is available on the Northside web page under News and Announcements. follow us on Twitter @ NISMilton 3

Our school was represented in the online state competition by Courtney Kingsfield, Isabelle Halbach, Maya Erickson, Kennedy Carr, Hanna Anderson.
