Join Starlo on his trip of a lifetime for $7999* per person. For every successful strike, expect to miss four other fish! ~ James, Freelance Fishing Guide, Zambezi River Well... if that isn t throwing down the gauntlet, what is? But hey, that s tigerfishing! Small wonder that such an elusive and challenging species heads up the freshwater bucket list of the likes of Steve Starlo Starling, world renowned fishing personality and commentator. Starlo s determination to pin one of Africa s most charismatic river monsters has inspired a fishing safari with benefits, epic in nature... AND he s said yes to extending the group to a limited number of fellow anglers, equally adventurous and driven by the Eye Of The Tiger. * Package is based on USD fluctuation and is subject to change until paid in full. DAY 1: 22 September 2014 PROTEA HOTEL Lusaka Welcome to Zambia! Upon arrival at the Lusaka International Airport, you ll be assisted with clearing customs and transferred by road to the Protea Hotel in Lusaka for your overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. Dinner this evening is at your leisure. TOURICA TOURS www.touricatours.com matt@touricatours.com Ph: 03 9798 8002 or 0450 927 533 ABN 35 113 085 Licence 2TA5758

DAY 2: 23 September 2014 This morning after breakfast, your host will assist you in checking out of the Protea Hotel and connecting with your road transfer to the Lusaka International Airport, ensuring your connection with your scheduled charter flight to Mvuu Lodge in the Lower Zambezi Valley. Upon arrival at Mvuu, we ll be assisting you through check in for your four night stay on a full board basis (excluding drinks and fishing equipment hire). You have unlimited fishing during your stay! 23 27 September 2014 MVUU LODGE Lower Zambezi Enjoy a four night stay at Mvuu Lodge on a full board basis (excluding drinks and fishing equipment). Tucked away in Zambia, along the meandering banks of the mighty Zambezi River, lays Mvuu Lodge The Place of the Hippo. This laid-back hideaway is situated about 18 km from the Lower Zambezi National Park in the Chiawa Game Management area and right opposite Mana Pools. Wild animals roam casually through the unfenced camp, providing you with a truly unforgettable experience. Being an area rich in wildlife, game viewing is exceptionally rewarding by boat or in an open vehicle drive through the bush. Our group has five game drives included that will be allocated throughout our stay to fit with everyone s requirements. The challenge of catching the renowned tigerfish from the banks of the great Zambezi River or from a boat provides you with the opportunity to lose yourself in the adrenalin rush. Relax with a sundowner, great food and warm hospitality on the open aired deck, overlooking the river. Finish off the day around a blazing bonfire in the boma as you listen to the sounds of the African bush... WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO FISH THE LOWER ZAMBEZI The Lower Zambezi is the portion of the Zambezi River that runs between Lake Kariba and Cahorra Bassa. As such, the flow of water through this section of the river is more controlled than other regions due to being downstream from Lake Kariba. The river has very healthy fish populations as well large numbers of hippo, elephant and buffalo in the region. At Mvuu, you will primarily target tigerfish drifting with bait. This happens in two ways: you can either buy bait at the Lodge or you can target some of the smaller tigers, bream or chessa fish by spinning with little Mepps lures or fishing with worms. Once you have caught your live bait, then your guide will fillet it and you can begin drifting for tiger. Simply lobbing the bait overboard, the current will drift it about 30m away from the boat and you wait for the hit. The bait will usually be picked up by either tigerfish or vundu (enormous lower Zambezi catfish). Tigerfish are known for their hard jaws, fearsome teeth and incredible acrobatic jumps once hooked and the golden rule is strike harder than you think and keep that rod tip down! The boats at Mvuu are a mixture of fibreglass pontoons and aluminium cruisers that will allow for maximum manoeuvrability if you get stuck into a trophy fish! Rod and reel are available for hire at Mvuu and bait and a selection of lures can be purchased at the lodge.

DAYS 3 5 A Typical Day at Mvuu Lodge... A typical day at Mvuu begins with early morning tea and coffee and porridge before heading out for some fishing on the Zambezi River. Return for brunch on the Mvuu deck and when you re satisfied, there is time for an afternoon siesta or relaxing time around the pool. Meet again on the Mvuu deck before departing for your afternoon s fishing on the Zambezi River for the enigmatic tigerfish! Return after sunset in the evening for a shower before meeting around a roaring fire for dinner. During your stay at Mvuu, you have included game drives that can be taken at any time! DAY 6: 27 September 2014 Following breakfast, your hosts will assist you as you check out of Mvuu Lodge and connect with your scheduled charter flight transfer to the Lusaka International Airport (this is about a 30 minute flight). Upon arrival in Lusaka, you ll again be assisted with checking in for your domestic Proflight flight to Livingstone. Once on the ground, you ll be transferred to the Zambezi Sun Hotel, where we ll get you checked into your rooms for your four night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

27 30 September 2014 ZAMBEZI SUN HOTEL Livingstone Enjoy a four night stay at the Zambezi Sun Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Located on the edge of the eastern cataract of Victoria Falls, the Zambezi Sun reflects the richness and diversity of the country s heritage unpretentious, fun and welcoming, it captures the very soul of Africa. From the moment you step inside, you ll be immersed in a unique, warm and friendly atmosphere. Like a gleaming jewel, The Zambezi Sun features earthy architecture inspired by an African village. The simple finishes are contrasted by bright mosaics and fabrics, as well as intoxicating Zambian artworks and accessories. DAY 7: 28 September 2014 This morning after breakfast, you have an opportunity to visit Victoria Falls. The Falls are open to Zambezi Sun guests to visit at any time during the day at no cost. Enjoy a scenic walk around one the Seven Wonders of the Natural World which is a mere two minutes from the Hotel. Close to the Falls you ll also find a local market selling handcrafted African goods and curios. This afternoon, you get to choose from a tantalising list of included activities... A scintillating helicopter flight over the Falls, a walk with the lions, a riverside safari on elephant back, white water rafting, a half day tiger fishing trip on the Upper Zambezi, walking with cheetahs or a round of golf! Each and every option is a lifetime memory waiting to be created, you simply need to choose which one. Lunch and dinner will be at your leisure.

DAY 8: 29 September 2014 Today we spend at our own leisure, with the option of booking in extra activities in Victoria Falls... A great opportunity to take up that other choice that you were weighing up yesterday!. In the evening, we have an included sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, complete with a selection of local drinks and snacks. Following your sunset cruise, dinner will be at your leisure and your hosts and the hotel concierge will be happy to recommend restaurants to suit your tastes. DAY 9: 30 September 2014 Today, Chobe National Park awaits us in Botswana. Chobe is home to one of the world s largest elephant populations. The first half of the day will be spent viewing game on a river cruise before we return for lunch. After that, we will spend the afternoon in the Park trying to catch a glimpse of some big cats and other spectacular African wildlife. Dinner will be at your leisure. DAY 10: 1 October 2014 Enjoy your breakfast before checking out of the Zambezi Sun Hotel. Once ready, you ll be transferred by road driving west, parallel to the mighty Zambezi River, to Sekoma Island Lodge in the Western Province. The road transfer will take approximately 1.5 hours. Of course, we ll assist you to check in for your four night stay on a full board basis (excluding drinks and fishing equipment hire). 2 4 October 2014 SEKOMA ISLAND LODGE Western Zambia Enjoy a four night stay at Sekoma Island Lodge in permanent tents on a full board basis (excluding drinks and fishing equipment hire). Sekoma Island forms a part of a chain of islands and channels in the centre of the Mambova rapids, below which lies Kazangula the eastern point of the Caprivi Strip and where four countries meet (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia). A Robinson Crusoe island, it teems with indigenous fauna and abundant flora and boasts more than 70 different fish species! The waters surrounding Sekoma Island are only navigable by mokoro (dugout boat) except for the northern point area which has been converted into the Lodge s harbour and clients, therefore, have total exclusivity.

After settling into your tents, meet on the Sekoma deck for some high tea before joining your separate guides for the afternoon s adventures on the Upper Zambezi River. Following your afternoons fishing, you will have an opportunity to shower and freshen up before meeting up in the bar for drinks and dinner. FISHING TIPS & TACKLE SUGGESTIONS FOR THE UPPER ZAMBEZI DAYS 11 13 A Typical Day at Sekoma Island Lodge... A typical morning at Sekoma begins with early morning tea and coffee and porridge before heading out for some fishing on the Upper Zambezi River. Return for brunch on the Sekoma deck and thereafter, there is time for an afternoon siesta or relaxing time around the pool. Meet again on the Sekoma deck for high tea before departing for your afternoon s fishing, birding walk or sunset cruise. Return after sunset in the evening for a shower before meeting around a roaring fire in the boma for dinner. The Upper Zambezi is the portion of the Zambezi River that runs from the source of the river to the Victoria Falls. As such, the flow of water through this section of the river is far more dependant on natural rainfall and vast stretches of this river form enormous floodplains that are a vital breeding ground for small fish. This essentially allows the river to re-stock itself. This part of the river generally flows a bit quicker and there is also less wildlife occurring on the banks of the Upper Zambezi river these days. At Sekoma, your fishing will be completely different to the Lower Zambezi in that you will probably do most of the fishing with lures and spinners. Trolling 9 13cm hard body minnows behind the boats for tigerfish or spinning in the rapids or drop offs is the most successful method of fishing at Sekoma and it is not uncommon to land five or six fish in a session. Remember for every successful strike, expect to miss four other fish! Sekoma will supply you with all the tackle required as well as the guides to point you in the right direction. You may also have the opportunity of catching a three spot bream or the nembwe two very good fighting and wonderful eating fish that hide amongst deep structure and mud drop offs along the river banks. The boats at Sekoma are flat bottom aluminium swamp cruisers with carpets taking a maximum of three anglers.

DAY 14: 5 October 2014 Following your breakfast, you ll be transferred by road to the Livingstone International Airport. Here you will connect with your international flight back to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, your Wonders of the Zambezi Tigerfishing Safari with Starlo will be concluded. INTERESTED?
