Game 13 at Texas Tech Friday s game between OU and Texas Tech (8-3, 0-1) is the 16th in the series, with the Red Raiders holding an 8-6-1 advantage. The series has been extremely streaky, with Texas Tech claiming victories in the first four matches, followed by six-straight Oklahoma wins. After a tie in 2007 in Norman, the Red Raiders have claimed the last four contests. After two-straight games in Norman, the series returns to Lubbock for the first time since 2009. Sam also has 10 shots and one goal this season, scoring earlier this season in a 1-1 tie against Vanderbilt on Aug. 26. T e x a s T e c h & O k l a h o m a S t a t e 2 HEAD COACH MATT POTTER Matt Potter was named the fourth head coach in the history of the University of Oklahoma soccer program on December 27, 2011. Throughout the past nine seasons, Potter established Washington State s program into one of the Pac-12 s elite with a school record 88 wins (88-69-26 overall) at the helm, including five double-digit win seasons and three appearances in the NCAA tournament. The Cougars advanced into the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2011 and 2009. Prior to his arrival, Washington State advanced to three NCAA tournaments since the program s inception in 1989. While coaching 30 all-conference selections and seven players that have taken part of national team camps or competitions at Washington State, the program s success in the classroom did not go unnoticed during Potter s tenure. He has helped mentor 103 student-athletes that have earned academic all-conference accolades and Washington State received the NSCAA Team Academic Award in 2011, marking the seventh time the program earned the honor under Potter. Renae Cuellar scored her seventh goal of the season in the second half against the Bears, tying the game before the two teams fought through two overtimes without a score. Two days later against the Longhorns, OU was defeated 1-0 with Sooner keeper Kelsey Devonshire totaling five saves. Next Week Oklahoma will take a break from Big 12 play to travel to Virginia Tech in the Sooners only game of the week. OU will face the Hokies Sunday, Oct. 7, at 12 p.m. CT. Devonshire s Shutouts Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Devonshire set an OU career record against Baylor on Sept. 21, becoming the Sooners all time saves leader. Devonshire s third save against the Bears put her past Catharine Wade s record of 345. Devonshire currently sits at 354 career saves. Hired in December of 2011, Potter comes to Norman after nine successful seasons at Washington State where he led the Cougars to three NCAA tournaments, including a pair of second round bids in the last three years. Joining Potter in 2012 is assistant coach Graeme Abel, also from Washington State and formerly an assistant at OU in 2008 and 2009, and Kacey White. White held previous stints SMU and Texas Tech and was a member of the 2003 National Championship team at North Carolina and a member of the U.S. Senior National Team (2006-2010). 2012 Newcomers In February, head coach Matt Potter announced the signees joining OU for the 2012 season, including Devin Barrett (Corona, Calif.), Jade Dapaah (Bedford, Texas), Katie Marcheso (Littleton, Colo.), Madison Smith (Edmond, Okla.) and Kenzie Sublett (Norman, Okla.). OU also announced the addition of Martha Turrentine (Plano, Texas), who signed an agreement to enroll at the University of Oklahoma in the fall. In December, the Sooners added Cassidy Nangle (Issaquah, Wa.,) to a financial aid agreement. The Sooners also brought in freshmen Kassidie Stade (goalkeeper) and Jordan Voth (defender). Senior forward Renae Cuellar transferred from Arizona. More on Cuellar Renae Cuellar, who has one year of eligibility left, was recently selected to play with the Mexican National Team and will travel with the team to Brazil this December. Cuellar previously participated on Mexico s 2011 World Cup team that played in Germany in addition to playing for Mexico in the U-20 Women s World Cup in 2010, scoring the gamewinning goal in a 1-0 win over England in group play. She also found the back of the net in a 3-3 draw with Japan.
