Synopsis This musical is a colourful journey toward a colourful Christmas. The adventure begins when, amongst the shoppers, Millie admits to her brother Sam that she feels Christmas is not as colourful as it was. Unfortunately she declares her sentiments within earshot of two Magical Makeover Marketeers from the MMM (Magical Makeover Market). The triple MMM, the marketeer s Manager and Grimkin, his servile assistant, comply with her apparent preference for a grey world by transporting Millie and Sam into Greyland. This is a world were both colour and Christmas are forbidden. Here they are met by the confusing Guardians of the grey, Lon, Don, and Ron, whose job is to take all those that do not adhere to the grey world laws to King Ming, the odious ruler of Greyland. Other colour transgressors join them on the way. A blind Hedgehog guilty of thinking in colour, a Pelican who possesses a truly colourful character, and a cool Chameleon who can change the colour of himself. For his own reasons King Ming however does not care to have any colour in his domain and the Guardian s prisoners are marched, by his regimented Greylanders, into a darkened cell. It is here that a Band, (Rocky, Ozzie, Chic and Chad = ROCC) who wish to restore colour and Christmas to a land, where a Greypole Dance has taken over, eventually rescue them. Harvard Hepstine, the Band s manager, who secretly plans a way of defeating the King and restoring the Greylings and Greyland to colourful normality, instructs everyone on how he sees the fight should go. Will his plans work? Will King Ming and his servant Grimkin hold sway? Will Millie and Sam get back to there own colourful Christmas? More importantly, can Millie sort out the true colours of her own emotions that began the adventure in the first place? Why don t you sing along to find out or at the very least, put the kettle on! The bells and baubles shine I see a brighter sign, For everyone. Christmas nights. A tree and festive lights A time for magic sights has just begun. Page 5 (CD tracks 1 and 17) We ll buy the lot. Take what they ve got We re in a shopping whirl I ll join each queue, well wouldn t you? For every boy and girl. Christmas cheer The tinsel time is here Family and friends are near It s so much fun. Christmas song With festive tunes so strong A carol sing along Has just begun. Think of Christmas year by year The message, will we ever learn? The brightest thing we all can do Is say thanks and give love in return. Think of Christmas year by year The message, will we ever see? The brightest thing we all can do, is say thanks and give love for free.

Parents: Everyone: Mum: Mill: Mill: Verse 2 It s shopping time, the gifts are fine I ll buy them one by one A shopping spree, until we see, That the money has all gone! We ll buy the lot. Take what they ve got We re in a shopping whirl I ll join each queue, well wouldn t you? For every boy and girl. Chorus Christmas time. The bells and baubles shine I see a brighter sign, For everyone. Christmas nights. A tree and festive lights A time for magic sights has just begun. For everyone. It s Christmas time. It s Christmas time. It s Christmas time. Sam, Millie! Will you stop dawdling, I haven t got time, and there s shopping to do, a turkey to prepare and a hundred and one other things besides. Now get a move on. (To Sam) Everything gets so crazy at Christmas time. Yeah! Brilliant isn t it. (Shouting from a nearby stall.) Have yourself a Magic Makeover at Christmas! Change the colours of your life! (Ignoring the MMM.) There s a rush for everything. (Looking at her list.) Is there anything you haven t asked for? (Also shouting from MMM stall) Let the Magic Makeover Manager change your world! (Slightly worried.) Have you noticed that things seem different this year? What do you mean? I don t know, it s hard to say exactly (Getting irritated) Millie, what are you talking about? Roll up, roll up! Get your Christmas magical make-over! I don t know, I think it s got something to do with the colours. The colours? Yes, they ve changed. Page 6

Eh? How do you mean they ve changed? Well the reds and greens are sort of faded this year, and there's more erm grey! (Puzzled) More grey? (Listening in) What did she say? Yes, that s it, there s more grey this year. She said more grey, Sir. Well it s an unusual request but we aim to please. (Calling to Millie and Sam) Excuse me children! (They look over) Please come over here, I believe I can help you. I wonder what he wants? C mon let s go and see. (He dashes across) Sam, where are you going? We ll be late. (She follows him) I m so tickled pink you ve come in here. Tickled pink I am. Sam, let s go! Millie, don t be rude. Sir we have two customers. So I hear. (To Millie) Seeing red with anger this festive season are we? Feeling green that all you ve seen, with envy, will be on someone else s Xmas list. Lists even longer than yours. Oh no, that s so not true. (A list like toilet role unfold in Millie s hands) Yes your list is rather long. Then what colours are you searching for? Maybe a Magic Makeover might help you. What do you mean, what colours? Browse, take your time we re not bulging with custom. Follow me Grimkin. (They move to the side) Have we made them angry? I don t know. (Reads off wall advertising) Change the colour of your world (Yawning) You know, to me Christmas has turned a little Grey. I definitely heard the girl say that she wished her Christmas to be grey. Are you sure she wants a grey makeover As sure as the grime on my neck my liege. That sure? Alrighty! We ll get on with it then. (To Millie and Sam) If you step through this door, I do believe we have in store, the Christmas wish you re asking for. Page 7

What? More presents? The missing colours! Indeed! Follow your dream. (They both go through the door. Under music as they disappear accompanied by strange light effects:) A peculiar wish to request Days before Christmas anyway. A world that s made over, whole into many shades of grey. Let it be as the girl requests! (Grimkin is performing a strange ritual) Be careful Grimkin or you ll bust a blood vessel. (Grimkin laughs hysterically as the scene fades.) Song 2 - The Grey Spell (CD tracks 2 and 18) Let my skills, fulfil her dream. She ll find a world, a colour scheme Towards a single hue. Worlds were greyness dominates. A mass of darkened states. Where only dark shines through. Page 8

SCENE 2: IN THE LAND OF GREY (Millie and Sam appear at the other side of the door. Everything around them is grey). Where are we Sam? I don t know but everything is different. It all looks so dark. Wait a minute, it s not dark, everything is grey. This puts everything in the shade. Sam, I m scared. What s happened? I don t know Millie, but I think it s got something to do with you saying that everything seemed grey. (Upset) I didn t wish for it to happen though. I know Millie. (Three people dressed in Grey scurry about staring at Millie and Sam.) Mill: Look, there are some strange looking people over there. Perhaps they can tell us where we are I ll go and ask them. Be careful, they look odd. Excuse me! You mean we? Yes you. Who are you? I m Lon. I m Don. And I m Ron. Lon, Don, Ron.wow! (More relaxed) What do you do Ron? I do what Don does, for definite. And what do you do Don? I do, do what Lon does exactly. So Lon what do you do. I do, do what Ron does, don t I? Mill: All 3 Do you Lon? Yes I do Ron, Ron! (They all laugh at their joke) Please do tell us now, what the thing that you do, do is! (Very impatiently) Oh Dear. (Very put out) Ooooooh! Temper, temper! I m sorry. I didn t mean to snap. Page 9

All 3: All: Neither did the twig! All right, we are Guardians of the grey. We look out for oddities like you. Oddities? Yes. You see.. Song 3 - Cor Look At It. (Lon, Don and Ron) (CD tracks 3 and 19) Verse 1: Who needs to mix and match? Who needs to match and mix? You re never in a quandary You re never in a fix You re always in business When style come to play Cor, look at it. Everything is grey. Chorus: Cor, look at it, cor look at it No colours to confuse Cor, look at it, cor look at it It s the same you can t lose Do yourself a favour Do yourself some good Get into grey like you know you should. Get into grey, get into grey. Get into grey like you should. Verse 2: Who needs to match and mix? Who needs to mix and match? There is no confusion There isn t a catch You re always in harmony Everyone s in sight Cor, look at this now everything s right. Chorus: Cor, look at it, cor, look at it Each colour s the same. Cor, look at it, cor, look at it We re equal, we re plain Do yourself a favour Yes do yourself some good Get into grey like you know you should. Do yourself a favour Yes do yourself some good Get into grey like you should. Get into grey, get into grey. Get into grey like you should. Colour Criminals. Your colours are not right. Page 10

(Hiding eyes) That shirt s so loud my ears are hurting. (Getting angry) Well at least we re not dull. (Becoming official) Not dull but certainly illegal. We on the other hand, and this hand as well, match the territory of Greyland exactly. That s how it should be. Couldn t have put it better myself. (Pointing at her jumper) This is a very pretty shade. It s not grey so it s not! It is! It isn t. It is! (A passing Pelican walks up to them and interrupts.) Pelican: Sam; Pelican: Pelican: Mill: Pelican: Excuse me. Who s this? Excuse me if I may suggest something. Pelicans making suggestions now there s a thing. If I may be allowed to suggest. If anyone can, a Pelican can. What made you say that? I don t know. I suggest you try to see each other s point of view. A very necessary thing to do in these troubled times. You may even come to agree on certain aspects, and perhaps begin to see the colour of a different boat. The colour of a different boat? The Colour of a different boat? Is that legal? (The Pelican begins to sing) Song 4 - The Colour Of a Different Boat. Pelican: Verse 1: Everyone is different. That could apply to two. You're not the same as me. I'm not the same as you. We all have our opinions. Sometimes they strike as true. But always, always, always think Of the others point of view. Page 11 (CD tracks 4 and 20)
