5v5 WYSL Festival Rules The players are the focus of the event! They are the stars! Players play. Coaches coach. Parents watch and encourage from the sidelines. Only players and coaches are allowed onto the turf fields. Parents / fans must stay on the perimeter of the fields at all times. - The coach of each U8 team will form two (2) teams of equal ability for this event Team 1 & Team 2 - Typically the rosters for the U8 teams are between 10-14 players in total - The rosters for Team 1 & Team 2 for this event should be between 5-7 players each to encourage maximum playing time - Each team is allowed a maximum of 5 players on the field at any time (4 outfield players plus 1 goalkeeper) - Substitutes can be made on the fly as the game goes on BUT the player leaving the field must be off the field at the half way line before the incoming player enters the field at the halfway line. - Ideally substitutions should be made when the ball is out of play or during a stoppage in play. - Each team will play 4 games. (See schedule for details). Team 1 & Team 2 will play alternately - Each game is 18 minutes long. No half time. No added time. No injury time. All Games start and end at the same time with the air horn from the official timekeeper. There is a 2 minute break between games on each field. - To maximize quality and fun each Team will play for 18 minutes then rest for 18 minutes. - Players remain on the turf area at all times. Resting teams are encouraged to support their team mates from the perimeter of the fields. - Games must start on time. Waiting teams should be next to their field ready to kick off immediately. Teams must exit the field as soon as the game finishes!
- All games are played on turf. Fields/goals are smaller in size to facilitate maximum skill development - Players must wear shinguards. Players without shinguards cannot play. - Players should bring warm ups as well as uniforms in case of inclement weather. We will play rain or shine (except in case of thunderstorms). - There are no offsides. - There are no throw ins. Play is restarted with a pass along the ground. - Goalkeepers are encouraged to quickly pass or roll the ball out to a team-mate on the ground. They cannot punt the ball past the half way line. If they do so an indirect free kick is awarded where the ball crossed the halfway line. - Teams should rotate / change goalkeepers quickly and frequently. - Players should rotate positions frequently throughout the event. The coach should ensure that every player should play in every position at some time during the event. - With the fast-paced, small-sided nature of this event where we re encouraging ball on the ground soccer, heading is not allowed. - Each team must clean up the field / sidelines after their games. No garbage is to be left on the field at any time. - No food or drink is to be consumed or brought onto the fields at any time. - No animals are allowed on the playing fields by order of the Village of Rye Brook and Blind Brook School district. - Be polite! At the end of the ramp make a right turn. Travel to the end of the road (traffic light) and make a right turn. Next left into the SUNY Campus. Once you turn into the campus, make a right at the T and go about a ¼ of a mile and park in the first parking lot on the left. From the South: Take the Hutchinson River Parkway to exit 28, Lincoln Avenue. At the end of the ramp make a left turn. Travel to the end of the road (traffic light) and make a right turn. Next left into the SUNY Campus. Once you turn into the campus, make a right at the T and go about a ¼ of a mile and park in the first parking lot on the left. From the East or West: Take Interstate 287 to the Hutchinson River Parkway, to exit 28. At the end of the ramp make a right turn. Travel to the end of the road (traffic light) and make a right turn. Next left into the SUNY Campus. Once you turn into the campus, make a right at the T and go about a ¼ of a mile and park in the first parking lot on the left.
Girls Field SAXON WOODS PARK 1800 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, NY 10605 From the North: From I-287 eastbound, take exit 9S, Hutchinson River Parkway (south). At the traffic signal make a right onto the Hutchinson River Parkway southbound. Take Exit 23N onto Mamaroneck Ave (northbound).at the end of the exit ramp turn right onto Mamaroneck Ave. At the next traffic signal make a left into Saxon Woods Park. Make a quick left and proceed to the back of the parking lot. From the South: Take the Hutchinson River Parkway north. Take Exit 23N and turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Mamaroneck Ave (north bound). Note that Exit 22 is Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale and be sure to pass Exit 22 and go to Exit 23N. Proceed north along Mamaroneck Ave. At the next traffic signal make a left into Saxon Woods Park. Make a quick left and proceed to the back of the parking lot.
