THE SHOE THAT BREATHES waterproof and breathable membrane THE GEOX PATENT Geox has perforated the rubber soles of its shoes and inserted a special microporous membrane that absorbs and expels sweat without letting water in. The membrane s micropores are smaller than water drops, which therefore can t pass through the membrane, but are larger than the water vapour molecules. Sweat, in the form of water vapour, can pass through the membrane and out through the perforated sole. THE JACKET THAT BREATHES THE GEOX PATENT The practical solution patented by Geox makes use of the convection principle, which causes warm air to rise. In Geox apparel, the humid air generated by the evaporation of sweat passes through a threedimensional spacer in the interior lining of the garment surrounding the body. The air then escapes through a breathing tape that runs from one shoulder to the other. The interior of the tape features a special waterproof, breathable membrane that has the dual function of allowing the warm, humid air to escape while keeping water out. THE BENEFITS The effi cacy of the Geox apparel patent has been proven in tests conducted using specifi c patented equipment in Geox research labs.
