EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ~ ELIGIBILITY, SELECTION, CORONATION ASSEMBLY GUIDELINES FOR ALL KING, QUEEN, AND COURT ACTIVITIES The decision to kiss or not to kiss will be left up to the participants and their parents. Each participant will sign a written statement (attached), compiled by the committee, as to whether they agree or disagree to include a kiss as part of the crowning ceremony. Candidates will be responsible for vehicle to ride on in parade/ceremony if applicable. Candidates are required to participate in all parades, assemblies or other related events for homecoming. If any candidate becomes ineligible the after nomination and before the ceremony, an alternate may be selected who received the second most votes for that class s attendant/queen. A special vote for that position may be held upon notice of ineligibility if no clear runner up in the original voting was made. If runner up declines, the next in line shall be offered the position. BASKETBALL The basketball teams and managers will elect the homecoming court for basketball homecoming. The election rules will be as follows: Each senior girl who is affiliated with basketball, whether it be a senior basketball player, senior cheerleader, basketball trainer, manager, filmer or stats keeper will be a Senior Candidate for Basketball Homecoming Queen. The Homecoming Court will also include: 1 Junior, 1 Sophomore, and 1 Freshman attendant, being voted upon by the same members of the basketball team as listed above. The principal will provide a list of eligible candidates to the coaches and sponsors the meet OSSAA academic, attendance and disciplinary requirements. (Students cannot be failing any classes, suspended or ineligible.) The names of the eligible candidates nominated the will be placed on a ballot. The voting of the candidates will take place during the basketball period and will be conducted by the coaches and cheerleading sponsors. The ballots will be counted by the cheerleading sponsors, coaches and one administrator. Escorts will be selected by seniority using the captain (s) first. Once a student has won Homecoming queen she will not be allowed to be nominated for Homecoming Queen for another sport for that school year but may be a attendant. Any girl nominated (Junior, Sophomore, Freshman) for basketball candidate will not be eligible to be a candidate in another sport the same school year. The Homecoming court will be voted upon two full school weeks prior to the Homecoming Coronation date.

FOOTBALL The football players and managers will nominate the candidates for Homecoming Queen. Any eligible 9-12 girl can be nominated. The principal will provide a list of eligible candidates to the coaches and sponsors the meet OSSAA academic, attendance, and disciplinary requirements. There will be one girl nominated from the remaining classes (9th, 10th, l lth) for Football Candidate will not be eligible to be a candidate in another sport the same school year. Students nominated should be positive representatives for the football team. Students should do well academically. The winning girls will be given two full weeks to get their formal dresses. The Queen will be voted on the day of the game by the Football team. One coach, one cheerleader sponsor, and one administrator will count the votes. The Queen must be a senior. The escorts will be senior Football players. If there is not enough senior players, juniors will be used. The captain for Homecoming will be selected by the Football team and/or coaches. YEARBOOK The Yearbook King and Queen Race is an annual event which takes places during the first 15 days of October starting on a Monday and concluding at the end of the lunch period on the seventh school day. The king and queen nominees in the class raising the most money will be the Yearbook King and Yearbook Queen. Monies raised will be split half & half between the yearbook fund and each class fund.

Candidates are selected in class meetings five days prior to the start of the contest. 2. One boy and one girl are selected to represent each class, grades nine through twelve.. 3. The nominees cannot by any other homecoming royalty or FHA beau. 4. Candidates chosen cannot be former yearbook royalty candidates. 5. Candidates nominated must have at least a 2.0 or "C" grade point average. (~ 6. Students nominated must be present during nominations and willing to accept the nomination. 7. Students nominated must agree to be photographed together for the yearbook. The Band Queen may be included in Football Homecoming ceremonies as part of the Football Homecoming royalty. Band queen is nominated from the senior class band members. The attendants are nominated out of the rest of the members of the band but will not participate in Football Homecoming activities. The nominations are then voted on and the students with the most votes will be named Band Queen. If there are no senior band members the following procedure is followed: 1. A list of all students will be passed out and each band member will select four (4) queen candidates; 2. The votes are tallied and the top eight (8) candidates are placed on a nomination ballet; 3. A second vote of the band members will be held using the eight (8) finalists; 4. The band member receiving the most votes will be named Band Queen;.'. 5. A band member cannot be selected as Band Queen a second time.

HOMECOMING QUEEN PARENT CONSENT FORM This parent consent form must be submitted to the homecoming queen nomination committee/sponsors before naming the homecoming queen. "Since being chosen as a Homecoming Queen candidate, it is my understanding that the "Homecoming Queen Coronation Kiss" is optional. I agree that a Homecoming kiss will be appropriate for me, with the approval of my parents, as part of the Homecoming Coronation Ceremony if I am chosen as queen. I disagree that a Homecoming kiss will be appropriate for me as part of the Homecoming Coronation Ceremony.
