, monitor, measure, and sample the fluids that are produced from the reservoir during the production testing process Course Objective : Define the reasons for well testing Gain a basic understanding of well testing operations Know different types of equipment used in well testing operations Know the different types of well test Learn basic reservoir understanding and reservoir concepts Know the reasons for performing well tests Gain basic knowledge about surface & down hole well testing equipment description and operation State the surface equipment functional requirements for well testing Specify the requirements for a well test program including safety Describe the function and operation of well test tools How to perform flow rate calculations? Understand how well test planning is performed How to conduct a well test? How to follow agreed safety guide lines on surface pressure testing ESD? How to carry out the appropriate selection and positioning of gauges? Course Content & Outline : 3
Day One : Introduction Objectives of well test operations Impact on the design and equipment of the well test Evolution of equipment and operations Needs, requirements, and results expected from well testing (On this day, participants will begin with a basic introduction to the process, objectives, and impact of well testing, other topics discussed will include the evolution of equipment and operations over time, participants will learn the needs, requirement and resulted that can be expected from well testing) Day Two : Surface Well Testing (SWT) SWT equipment Purpose, benefits, limitations SWT practical exercise in Schlumberger s flow loop SWT will be introduced and discussion will follow the equipment, purpose, benefits and limitation, Participants will learn how SWT can affect a rig layout, The class will include a practical exercise using Schlumberger s flow loop, This exercise will include the discussion of the opera on of a 3 phase separator, choke manifold, and the tanks Day Three : Testing Data Acquisition (TDA) and Fluid Sampling and Analysis (FSA) TDA and FSA down hole and surface equipment and specifications 4
TDA and FSA practical application Participants will start the day off discussing TDA and FSA equipment and specifications, including downhole gauges, fluid sample carriers, and acquisition systems, The day will send with a TDA and FSA practical application, This will include the set up and acquisition of well testing data using Schlumberger tools and systems Day Four : Drill Stem Testing (DST) DST down hole equipment String design and Diagrams DST practical Participants will be introduced to DST and the equipment used, Other topics will be string design and diagrams including, packers, safety joints, hydraulic jars, tester valves, circulation valves, and safety valves, Participants will also do a DST practical where they will be introduced to the tool preparation and operation in a DST workshop Day Five : Subsea Landing String Systems (SLSS) and Basic Well Testing Interpretation SLSS considerations, tool space out SLSS impact on BOP operations Well testing interpretation This day will be used to introduce participants to SLSS, SLSS considerations and tool space out will be discussed as well as what impact it will have on BOP operations, Participants will also learn the basics of well testing interpretation 5
