FOUR-ON-THE SNOW Newsletter A publication of Tucker Sno-Cat Corporation Made in the USA since 1942 NO SNOW TOO DEEP NO ROAD TOO STEEP August 2017 Volume 9 Issue 8 Tucker Sno-Cat Corporation will be taking its annual two week shutdown and vacation the first two full weeks of August. The plant and office will be closing at 12:00 noon Friday August 4th and open again at 7:00 am Monday August 21st. Most of us will scan our emails, if we are in range, and the automated answering machine will be on and will also list out important contact numbers. It has been a busy summer with lots of service machines, special projects, and machines to get out the door. We are all looking forward to the break, but after that it will be time to rock-n-roll because the work keeps piling up and before long we will be getting those reports of the first snow fall! Please go to our website and click on PRODUCTS and then on APPAREL to see our new line! Page 1 of 6
Sterling says...thank you for all the people that took the time to come to the Utility Maintenance Seminar! It was a good session and we all gained knowledge. The Groomer version will be September 12-13, please see page 3. Summer is the busy time for our Service Department and our schedule is full, however if you need to get on the list don t hesitate to call and we will figure out how to help you. Some things that we have seen this summer that I want to mention: 1.) Machines without a lot of usage that only get serviced every 2-3 years, having hydraulic filters that are several years old. You would do your hydraulic system a big favor if you just changed the filter annually. As part of your service work with us, we could wrap up a spare filter or build up a filter kit so you would at least have that. 2.) Some of the machines with Air Bag Suspension had slow leaks in the system that came from the supply hoses that were old and needed replacement. If you are experiencing a slow leak, check the hoses first. 3.) Slider blocks that are worn and need replacement, this is a wearable item and pretty easy to replace, see the April 2016 Newsletter for more info on slide blocks. 4.) Drilling holes or other structural changes to your ROPS cab. From time to time we see a machine that for whatever reason has had some modification done to the cab, this could be to add something on or drilling new holes because there was a problem with the factory ones. (See photos at bottom for examples) The special cab structure is certified based on specific drawings, changes to that drawing (structure) need to be preapproved. Changes made could affect the certified part of your cab, so before making ANY changes please call us for a consult. Helpful hint on electrical fuses.did you know that you can replace the Mini Spade fuses we use with ones that have a LED light which comes on if the fuse is blown? This could be a big time saver!
