PROPOSAL Body, Balance & Mind Yoga Retreat in Stonington, CT About Escape to beautiful Stonington Borough for an all-inclusive getaway. This retreat is hosted by New England Science & Sailing, an ocean adventure nonprofit in Stonington, CT. Our highly trained yoga, surf and paddleboard instructors will get you out on the water and help guide you to strengthen your mind and body. Deepen your connection to yourself and to nature with daily yoga and SUP yoga practices, destination-by-power boat surf trips, and a sunset sail cruise in Stonington s stunning harbor. Hike local trails and enjoy a SUP-to-supper tour to one of our local restaurants. Look at the stars as your paddle board lights up beneath you. Enjoy the peaceful historic Stonington Borough, walk to Dubois Beach to sink your toes in warm sand, travel by boat to the most incredible beaches of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. With a thoughtful balance of outdoor adventure as well as down time to simply relax on the beach and the docks, this retreat has something for everyone. Retreat options Fall Restorative Retreat (Tuesday, Oct. 18 Friday, Oct. 21) Power it Up (TBD May 2017) Spring Restorative Retreat (TBD May 2017) Each retreat will be capped at 12 participants to ensure that each student receives individualized attention and the most detailed yoga, surf and paddle instruction. About the Instructors Mistral Dodson Mistral graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and Conservation with Honors from Murdoch University, Western Australia. Mistral has worked with students aged 4 18 in both marine and terrestrial environments. Past experiences include Natural Resource Management in Western Australia, Marine Turtle Research Assistant and Educator in Western Australia, Teaching
in Nicaragua, surfing instructor in Tortola, BVI, and of course currently working across many fields within NESS. Mistral is a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, PADI Divemaster, US Sailing Level 3 Coach, ACA Coastal Kayak Certified, NSSIA SUP/Surf Instructor and USCG Master 50GT Captain. Mistral was named to Southeastern Connecticut s 2016 "40 Under Forty" list for her work at NESS and in the community. Lauren O Donnell Lauren O Donnell grew up by the ocean in Cape May County, New Jersey, where she worked as a naturalist on a whale watch & research vessel. Her interest in how our bodies work and her love for nature led her to graduate from Stockton University with a degree in biology. She then moved to California to teach marine science at the Catalina Island Marine Institute where she led paddle board and kayak adventures in addition to wide variety of marine science programs. Lauren is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher through Live Love Teach and actively teaches at Studio 4 in Downtown Westerly in addition to being an Assistant Lacrosse Coach for Narragansett High School. She is certified in CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and an American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard in addition to being an advanced NAUI Scuba Diver and a USCG OUPV boat captain. With a passion for the ocean and teaching yoga, a trained naturalist and certified lifeguard, Lauren is thrilled to combine and share what brings her pure joy with you through paddle boarding, yoga, and general fitness. Accommodations The Inn at Stonington is a beautifully appointed 18-room inn located in Stonington Borough, Connecticut, a village rich in New England history. Set along the waterfront, The Inn is a short stroll from a host of award-winning restaurants, shops and galleries an ideal setting for relaxing and restorative yoga retreat. During your retreat you will have time to take in the Borough s variety of restaurants, antique and gift shops, and galleries all within walking distance from the beautiful Inn. Area attractions include Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, beautiful Watch Hill and Rhode Island beaches.
