We have been preparing classes and activities that will ensure that your time at camp and with your team is Simply the Best! We know that you will find the classes and activities challenging, exciting and beneficial to your team and your individual needs and goals. The information below will help you plan and pack! WHAT TO PACK Refillable Water Bottle- Bottled water will not be sold this year! 1. Signed Medical Release Form - each dancer should have in hand 2.Ballet Shoes or soft jazz shoes for ballet class if you have them available 3.Bedding - Towels Pillows sleeping bags are best! 4. Lunch for first day 5. Practice clothes/personal items 6. Dance Shoes/ballet slippers (not required) 7. Personal first aid supplies/ tape and pre wrap for wrapping 8. Warm sweats/sweatshirt 9. Suntan lotion/glasses/hat 10. Knee Pads - strongly suggested for int 2 and advanced 12. Fan/Alarm clock 13 Spending money/change for vending machines 14. Black dance clothes/leo/unitard/etc. 15. 50 s/60 s/70 s/80 s clothes for novelty dances or other dress up garb in your closets! Poms if you have them. See website the middle of June for list of novelty dances! 16. Signs to decorate doors/masking tape University Rules BE SURE TO LEAVE ORIGINAL ROOM NUMBER SHOWING. GLITTER OF ANY KIND IS NOT ALLOWED!!!!! CREPE PAPER CANNOT BE HUNG FROM CEILINGS - IN HALLS OR IN ROOMS! PLEASE LEAVE VALUABLES AT HOME!!!!! The University and Thunderbird Camps will not be responsible for lost items. NOTE: Lost Key: $175 Lost Slide Card: $15
GUIDELINES 1. Students are required to stay on campus at all times. 2. Boyfriends and girlfriends are not allowed to visit. 3. Candles, incense and glitter are not allowed in the dorms. 4. The use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco or illegal substances will be cause for dismissal from camp. 5. Stay with a buddy when walking around campus. Stay in the designated areas for our camp. Leave early enough to arrive on time to the classes and activities. 6. Please respect the property at the University. If something breaks, or is broken or damaged when you arrive, please notify your coach so we can take care of the situation. Respect each others property. Do not take what is not yours. 7. Please respect the rights and privacy of the other people on campus. Keep noise levels down in the dorms and on campus. 8. Your bracelet is your ID tag and meal ticket. Please wear it at all times as campus security may ask to see it. You will not be allowed in the cafeteria or in the dorms without it!! 9. Leave valuables at home. Thunderbird Camps and the college cannot be responsible for lost or stolen articles. Please mark your belongings. 10. Aspirin will not be distributed by Thunderbird Camps. 11. If you are taking medication please note at time of registration. 12. Please keep track of your room key. $175 lost key fee. 13. Do your best not to lock yourself out of your room. You will be charged a fee each time the staff needs to unlock your room. 14. Please be inside by 10:15. Rooms must be quiet by 11:00pm 15. Do not lean out of windows or sit in window ledges. Please leave the screens on the windows. 16. If you decorate your halls or doors please clean them before you leave. Use only Masking/painters tape and items that will not leave permanent marks. Fire laws prohibit hanging crepe paper or tinsel from the ceilings. The original room number must be visible if you decorate your doors! No Glitter please! 17. Bring quarters for the vending machines! 18. Shoes must be worn at all times. Sports bras need to be worn with a shirt. No midriff tops 19. Please have a change of shoes when dancing in the Gym. 20. Students are required to attend all classes. If you are ill check with your coach. 21. Please bus your own tables in the cafeteria. You may have as much as you like to eat and drink in the cafeteria but we are asked not to take food or beverages out. There will be water you can fill water bottles with at the Stoller Center.. 22. Please do not chew gum during class. AWARDS
Class One Shirts and ribbons are awarded daily in these classes for students who demonstrate outstanding: Technique Precision Showmanship Class Two Ribbons and Back Packs will be awarded daily in this class. If you receive a back pack in this class you will be asked to take it back to the room and sign it and return it the next day. At the end of camp one student in each class will get the back pack to keep. Daily back pack winners will receive a trophy. NOVELTY DANCES These classes are evaluated daily and ribbons are awarded daily to students demonstrating outstanding effort, improvement and showmanship. At the final showcase of these routines on the third night, trophies will be presented in these classes. TECHNIQUE CLASSES Temporary Tattoos will be awarded daily in these classes. KICKLINE CLASSES Dancers are evaluated on accuracy, technique, showmanship, and style. There will be All Star Kick Ribbons awarded daily in each kick class. Advanced Kick classes will perform on the last day and trophies will be awarded at this time. DRILL DOWN Drill Down classes will take place during the week. Drill Down will be done in levels - Beg. Int. Adv. The Final Drill Down competition will take place at the Novelty Dance Showcase. ALL STAR TEAM Dancers will be selected to the Thunderbird All Star Team by the Camp Directors and Staff based on an outstanding display of ability, effort, and attitude. From this group the staff will select the Thunderbird Award.
