Turn right onto WA-516 / S Kent Des Moines Rd. 5. Turn left onto Central Ave S / WA-516. 6. Turn right onto E Smith St / WA-516. 7. Continue to follow WA-516. 8. Kent-Meridian is on the left. WEIGH-IN - Saturday, February 14 th - 8:00 am Kent-Meridian Wrestling Room Athletes will need photo ID and weigh-in cards to weigh-in. Weigh-in cards will be distributed at TEAM CHECK IN. When wrestlers enter the wrestling room, they will only be allowed their weigh in cards and the clothes they are wearing. No bags or cell phones will be allowed in the wrestling room. All teams should report at weigh-in time. We will weigh in by Wrestling Federation Rules. Any skin irregularities / diseases must be accompanied by a note from a physician stating the disease in non-communicable. Physician must have clearance filled out on STATE APPROVED FORM (please use the attached link to copy the form). http://www.wiaa.com/condocs/con150/2011-2012%20april%20wr%20skin%20form.pdf SESSION SCHEDULE Times are approximate Final two rounds will not start ahead of time Session One: there will be 4 mats for rounds 1-4 o Round 1 -- 10:00 am o Round 2 12:00 noon o Round 3 2:15 pm o Round 4 3:30 pm Cons. 3 rd 4 th and 5 th 6 th places Session Two: o Switch to 1 mat only o Open lower seating area o Introduction of finalists o Round 5 5:00 pm Championships ADMISSION: Ticket prices are good for all sessions o Adult $8.00 o Student w/ ASB $6.00 o Child/Sr. Citizen $6.00 Acceptable passes: Press Pass, WSCA, and WIAA Lifetime Pass ** NO OTHER PASSES, INCLUDING LEAGUE PASSES, WILL BE ACCEPTED** Schools will EMAIL the included pass list to the tournament manager no later than WEDNESDAY, FEB. 11 th. Cheerleaders in uniform will be admitted free, with an accompanied cheer advisor. Their names should appear on the attached pass gate list. NO cheerleaders will be allowed on the floor. News media and photographers - only those approved by the tournament director will be allowed in the mat area. **Mat Classic (State Tournament) All Tournament Tickets will be available on a pre-sale basis and will be sold on Saturday evening. Ticket prices will be: All Sessions Adult $23.00 All Sessions Student/Seniors $17.00 Single Session and All Day Tickets can be purchased at the Tacoma Dome.
STATE QUALIFIERS & AWARDS The first FOUR (4) place finishers in each weight division will qualify for the State Wrestling Tournament to be held in the Tacoma Dome February 20 th and 21 st. Medals will be awarded to the first 4 place finishers in each weight class. Pictures for the state program of the top four (4) place finishers will be taken immediately after the awards presentation for that weight class. Please have the wrestlers in their school warm ups. The 5 th place finisher will become the alternate at the State Tournament. The alternate will be used in the event of a scratch by a higher placer for their district only. Individual awards will be presented during the championship session. Team scores will be kept and those teams will be recognized. There will be no team trophy. MATCHES ENDING IN A DRAW Federation overtime rules will apply. PRE-TOURNAMENT COACHES' MEETING Wrestling Room - Immediately following weigh-ins Please have a representative present for the meeting. OFFICIALS Will be assigned by the WIAA For the Consolation & Championship finals, two officials will be used. MEDICAL/FIRST AID Certified Athletic Trainers will be provided. The training area will be in the training room off the northeast corner of the gym. TOURNAMENT GAMES COMMITTEE: Head Official Tournament Director Lisa Kelly Site Director Todd Owens Coaches (2 3) from neutral schools (to be assigned at the coaches meeting) DISPUTES Any disputes occurring at the tournament will be presented to the Tournament Director and she will confer with the Tournament Games Committee. Their decision will be final. The WIAA expulsion rule (23.32-Conduct eligibility rules and penalties) will be followed. GENERAL INFORMATION TEAM CHECK IN Teams will check in before weigh ins in the foyer of the gym Teams will receive a packet with passes, weigh in cards and other pertinent materials
LOCKER ROOMS Wrestlers please deposit all debris in trashcans. P. E. Baskets are not to be disturbed. Bulletin boards are to be left untouched. Coaches should discuss proper care of locker room area. Each school must furnish their own towels FLOOR RESTRICTIONS Only participants and coaches with passes will be allowed on the main floor and in the wrestling room. Spectators will sit in the upper bleacher section only. The limit is two coaches per mat. Only approved press will be allowed on the floor. Video is limited to the bleachers. WARM UP AREA Mats will be available in the East Gym behind the wrestling room. (athletes must be accompanied by a coach in this area) HOSPITALITY ROOM A hospitality room will be in the culinary arts room off the southwest corner of the gym. Access to the hospitality room will be reserved for coaches, officials, and designated staff. PARKING FACILITIES Parking is available on campus. Bus parking is available on the North side of the gym. See map provided SIGNS No signs except official school banners allowed. T-SHIRTS Regional T-shirts will be on sale in the gym foyer. BANDS AND NOISEMAKERS Bands and noisemakers will NOT be allowed. COACHES Each coach is responsible for the conduct of his team. Each school is responsible for their valuables Each coach shall turn in a copy of the alpha master list from the weight management program.
SPECIAL INTRODUCTION BEFORE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND This procedure will be reviewed at the coaches' meeting February 14 th. The championships will be held on one mat starting as close to 5:00pm as possible. Finalists advancing from the top ½ of the bracket will be introduced and seated at the West end of the gymnasium (concessions side). Finalists advancing from the bottom ½ of the bracket will be introduced and seated at the East end of the gymnasium. TEAM SCORING All tournament scoring will be as stated in the National Federation Rule Book (Rule 9, Section 2) TEAM PLACEMENT 1 st Place 16 points 4 th Place 7 points 2 nd Place 12 points 5 th Place 5 points 3 rd Place 9 points 6 th Place 3 points TOURNAMENT SCORING Individual placement points shall be awarded as soon as earned. Placement points already earned will be deducted in case of forfeit (other than injury) or disqualification from the tournament. Points for team scoring shall be awarded as follows: Two (2) team advancement points shall be scored for each match won in the championship bracket, except for the final first place match. If a wrestler receives a bye in the first round, he shall be awarded 2 advancement points for that round if he wins his next match. No points are awarded for the bye if the wrestler loses his next match. One (1) team advancement point shall be scored for each match won in the consolation round, except for the final third and fifth place matches. A wrestler who has a bye in the consolations round shall receive one advancement point, provided he wins the next round match. POINTS FOR DEFAULT, DISQUALIFICATION, FALL, OR FORFEIT a. Two (2) additional points will be scored for each match won by default, disqualification, fall, or forfeit throughout the tournament. b. One and one-half points (1.5) will be awarded for each match won by a technical fall. c. One (1 ) point will be awarded for each match won by a major decision. OTHER SCORING In tournament scoring six places, the winner of each championship quarterfinals shall be awarded three points, and the winner of each championship final shall be awarded for additional place points. The winner of the quarterfinal consolation match shall receive three additional place points. The winner of the third place and the winner of the fifth place shall receive two additional place points. WITHDRAWAL OF QUALIFIERS Any school that intends to withdraw a qualified participant should contact Lisa Kelly at 206 229 7106 as soon as possible. This will allow time to contact the alternates.
