I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone for the many years of support. Without your support we could not have accomplished so many years of success. Again I am expecting competitors from around the globe to attend this prominent event, so please come and enjoy the competition. I am happy to inform you that we are back at the Physical Education Building of the Westchester Community, which is located at 75 Grasslands Road, Valhalla, NY 10595. Once again we are hosting Sensei Tommy Hood, Jr., Coach of the USA Karate Team. Sensei Hood is a 6 th Dan and is 10 times National Champion and 3 times Pan-American Champion. Sensei Hood will conduct two Kumite Seminars at the Baxter Karate Dojo, located at 156 Mt. Vernon Ave., Mt. Vernon, NY 10550 which, will be held on Saturday, October 5th. Please refer to the following pages for the registration form. The tournament will be held on Sunday, October 6th. All events will start on time. Most importantly our tournament is supervised by experienced Officials, who are licensed by the USANKF. We also have highly qualified PKF and WKF Officials in attendance. All these Officials are known for fair and impartial officiating. We will be awarding $1000.00 total in cash for the Senior Black Belt Kata and Kumite winners. Please note; minimum of eight competitors in the Division to qualify for cash prizes. This is a pre-registration event and the deadline for early registration is October 1st, so please get your registrations done early so you can join us for some outstanding competition with athletes from other States and other countries. Rules & Regulations Kata: All contestants must perform Okinawan or Japanese Kata. Beginner contestants (10 th Kyu to 4 th Kyu) must use Pinan (Heinan), Gekisai, Tioshi Shodan, Konchabo, Fukyugata, Taikyoku, Tekki Shodan, Naifanchi Shodan, etc. All Beg., Nov. & Int. competitor has the choice to repeat their kata or perform a different kata each round. All black belt divisions must perform a different kata in the final round. All kata will be performed simultaneously, except 16-17 years & adult black belt divisions. Weapons: Only traditional weapons, Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Eku, Kama, Jo, are allowed. NO NUNCHAKU STATE LAW. SWINGING OF KAMA (SICKLES) BY STRINGS WILL NOT Kumite: BE PERMITTED. WKF modified rules. One minute stop time. 8-Point System will be utilized. Adult black belt matches will be two minutes female & three minutes male, all matches will be Stop Time. Equipment: MANDATORY: Protective headgear, red & blue WKF style kumite mitts, foot protectors, and mouthpieces are required for all participants; groin cups are required for males. Chest protectors for female participants is recommended and Body protectors recommended for all. Face mask is also recommended for 15 yrs. and younger.
