Captain's Report April 2015 Midweek PM Ride 11-3-2015 23 Riders 1 Passenger Despite numerous groans because Donnybrook was todays destination where people participating in the two day rally visited several times over the course of the weekend, the group headed off ably led by Neville G. on a Bernie inspired route, Ye Olde Capel/Tutunup Rd!, Bob Brittain joined the ride today but had the misfortune stop to his bike on Ludlow/Hithergreen Rd and couldn't restart. Carty tried push start but gave up as a bad joke and towed Bob and his bike to start. Once started there was no stopping consequently any afternoon tea for Bob. After goodies in a couple of cafe`s and wishing John & Tracy bon voyage for the caravan trek, the group broke up and headed in a few different directions home. Busso Boys 18-3-2015 12 Riders Weather not looking good however, 12 hardy souls turned up. Decision was made to ride to Capel bakery which made Darryl's eyes light up. With Darryl the leader and Terry tail end charley we headed along Layman Rd, detouring around some road works to Tuart Dr. onto Ludlow Rd Nth, Roberts Rd, Bussell Hwy Bentley Dr, Railway Rd and the a meander round the back streets of Capel to the bakery where we all enjoyed some goodies. Our return journey was roughly the same, calling into Peppermint Grove Beach for a short stop. Midweek AM 25-3-2015 21 Riders 1 Passenger Perfect day for a ride, Neville G. herded the group meandering around Gelorup, West Dardanup, Boyanup, Crooked Brook, Ferguson, Henty, Burekup, To Forrest Hwy and then onto Eaton where Margaret G, Lyn, Fay and I had the pies, sausage rolls ready and waiting as well as other stuff. After almost eating everything the group left about 1130. ONCE AGAIN RIDERS DON T WAIT AT CORNERS FOR FOLLOWING BIKES. Please consider riders who are not as familiar with the surrounding areas as you may be. Busso Ride Report 1/4/2015 We had 21 bikes turn up for the ride on a magnificent autumn day although a bit on the chilly side at the start. We had 1 new visitor and 4 riders from Bunbury, there were 10 club eligible bikes also President Bob was there to see us off. (He couldn t come with us as he had some business to attend to in Busso) We headed off down Chapman Hill Rd R into Doyle Rd L at Queen Elizabeth and Payne Rd, L into Jindong Treeton Rd, R at Rosa Brook Rd, L into Rosa Glen Rd to the Berry Farm for Morning Coffee break 4

where we enjoyed delicious coffee, jam cream and scones. We then headed South, R into Davis Rd, and L at Bussell Hwy stoping at Karridale for fuel and waiting for a few riders that went via Warner Glen Rd for a bit longer ride. Heading South again to Augusta and the new boat harbour, we all agreed that the new harbour was a magnificent set up, well finished, a credit to the builders. We then headed back to Karridale for lunch, heading home via Caves Rd, Cowaramup Rd, Bussell Hwy, Treeton Rd, Jindong Treeton Rd, Payne Rd and Queen Elizabeth Rd arriving at Busselton about 3 PM, a very enjoyable day was had by all. Peter Whiteside Glen Britza Run 12-4-2015 This run had been postponed for a couple of weeks, so it was disappointing to see the wet weather settling in for a few days prior to the event. However on the day there were just a few showers about with lengthy fine spells. Obviously most members thought it looked pretty good as we had 34 riders and 1 passenger arrive for the start at the Entertainment Centre. Glen Britza had prepared the route and was busy handing out route sheets. The ride was broken up into 2 legs with the first taking us to the Wellington Dam for a 15 minutes break. We travelled through the Ferguson Valley and Pile Road and used the recently sealed Falcon Road to the dam. After the break we travelled back across the dam and Falcon Road but turned up Lennard Drive to the top of the hill. We then made our way down Henty Road to the SW Highway, then across to Leschenault. It's worth mentioning here that we went via Alma Road which is a well-known dairy area - which, combined with a bit of rain, equals brown coloured motorcycles! Anyhow we made it to Neville & Margaret Greens' place where they had prepared morning tea / lunch with a great variety of food and drinks. The weather here was now sunny and very pleasant so most people stayed a while enjoying the food and others company. Many thanks to Glen, Neville and Margaret and all the other volunteers that helped make the day a good one. We have had 72 responses from 143 requests sent out. This is a response rate of 50% which is excellent. We have gained lots of useful feedback and this information will be presented at the next committee meeting and will be used when planning future events. Richards' Run and Presentation Day will be held on Sunday 24 th May. As we have done previously this event will be held at the BMCC clubrooms and will be a family day out. Registrations are now open and 5

there is a cost of $15 per person, children under 14 years free. You can register online through the club website and you can also book for visitors or family members at the same time. Registration and payment is essential prior to the event and registrations close on the 17 th May to enable planning for catering. You will not be able to register after this date so if you're coming now is the time to let us know. We have posted photos from the Two Day Rally on our Facebook page. These photos were kindly provided by Jan McDermott and Jan & Rex Baker. Norm Hart asked the members present to wish Ron Gill Happy Birthday, Ron turned 90 YO. Terry Germain has obtained a quantity of route sheet holders; they are available from Terry at $50 each. Terry also bought along some Vintage new VCR tapes of the Isle of Man TT racing, and WSBK Racing which he donated to be auctioned.as there were no bidders he took them home again. Glen Britza reminded everyone the Don Collins run would be organised by him and takes place on the 3/5/2015. Librarians Report Amanda has asked for donations of newer magazines. Otherwise all good. Licensing Officers Report. Jeff Smith thanked all those examiners who had inspected machines. There had been in excess of 400 machines 20 machines still remaining unlicensed. There has been 20 letters sent to members who had not had their machines inspected, of those 15 members have responded to Jeff s letters. Murray Rudler announced the Hamish Cowan pre 48 run to be held on 17/5/2015 would commence at Hamish s place. The Boyanup Australia Day event which had been run in the past by him has not been cancelled as some had been led to believe. Next Year s event will be organised by Norm Hart. Thanks Norm for taking on this popular event. There still remain 15 machines not as yet bought to be inspected. Jeff has put in a huge effort to encourage these members who have not responded to his communications and he now considers the Club should have them struck off as Club members by evoking the Constitution. The committee to discuss his request. His request was generally supported by the members present at the meeting. Property Officers Report Nil report. General Business. The Glen Britza Run was won by Ray Buck. Ross Eaton announced he will not be able to organising this year s Wheat belt run, as he will be away from the State. Ross has asked if someone could take over running this year s event in his absence. Contact Ross on 9721 1779 if you can help. Acting Secretary Phil Bussanich reminded members the importance of when participating in an event where there is no backup to make sure they were vigilant on keeping the following rider in view and that they knew where to turn. A couple of riders were lost temporarily on the Glen Britza run due to the field splitting up over a long distance. 6

Auction. There were a bundle of magazines won by Brian Cartwright for $3 Book on The History of Harley Davidson, beginning to 1994 won by Glen Britza for $35 Meeting closed 8.45PM Committee Meeting to be held on 22/4/15. first fatality occurring whilst conducting a club run. This has put extra pressure on the committee members as they try to ensure that it is not repeated. The year has also seen the 40 th running of the Two Day Rally, which by all accounts was very enjoyable and very successful. Minutes of AGM 10 June 2014 Those Present As per General Meeting dated 10 June 2014 Apologies As per General Meeting dated 10 June 2014 Visitors As per General Meeting dated 10 June 2014 Minutes Minutes of previous meeting were tabled and received by Phil Bussanich seconded by Neville Green Carried. Business Arising. Nil Letters In. Nil Letters Out. Nil Treasurer s Report Glenda briefly explained the year s financial activities, which resulted in the following: Total income $38,937.45 Total expenses $40,133.65 Net income negative positive $1,196.24 Thanks Glenda for a job well done. President s Report Another year has already passed, and it is time for the AGM. This year has had its downs and ups, with the The IHC, as a club is progressing along comfortably with new member applications being processed, it seems every month. To comply with the 404 licensing requirements, the committee is looking at ways to involve more members within its activities, as it seems that some members are only joining to take advantage of the licensing concession. I urge all members to support the club activities as this is a requirement of the 404 concession. We only see 1/3 of members throughout the year at activities. To the new President, I wish whomever it is, the support of the club, and say that I will be able to help, if needed.to the rest of the elected committee you have my support. Finally I must thank the ladies, who have supported the club at functions, with their catering. Also to the committee members that have supported me during my time as President, and lastly all club members that have attended the activities during the year and generally supported the club. Captain s Report In what has been a very eventful year for the club, there was an increase to approx. 60 rides this year due to Pre-48, Busso Boys and Mandurah Mob having designated runs. We also tried a couple of new places to have midweek am rides which worked out. With the weather being 7

generally kind on ride days there were not many really damp days however, there were some pretty hot rides. The most spectacular ride I think was Roy's ride where 49 bikes and 12 passengers descended on Murray Coopers to view his collection of restored petrol bowsers after which the group travelled to Muriel Melvin's for lunch. In all there were approx. 75 people who honoured Roy that day which was greatly appreciated by the family. The 40th Two Day Rally was huge success. I think it will be hard to top this particular year s event. As always no event would be possible without the continued support of the hardworking volunteers, THANK YOU. In conclusion I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the club, also thanks to people who have had input into ride ideas and supported me throughout the year. The cash raised on the day came to $3,300 and was presented to Salvation Army Officer Major Trevor Wilson. The cash would be used to make up food hampers and to buy Xmas gifts to go to the less fortunate people of Bunbury and surrounding areas. I have enjoyed being Publicity Officer these past 2 years and have learnt a great deal. I thank the Members of the Committee and Club Members for their support, help and guidance. Licensing Liaison Officer Another eventful year come and gone sadly again as I pointed out last year a lack of members willing to put their hand up to assist in the running of the club. This makes it difficult for the few hard working members to shoulder all the workload of what is becoming a very busy organisation. Librarian s Report. Nil to report Publicity Officer Another successful Xmas Charity Ride was held on 13 th December 2013. A lovely summer s day with a turnout of 330 bikes starting at Capel 10.00 am. Led by Santa in a sidecar the procession of bikes left Capel and proceeded down Bussell Highway turning off to collect more bikes at Dalyellup Park then went down Ocean Drive and eventually gathering at the Foreshore Inlet opposite B.R.E.C. After much needed refreshments our newly appointed Bunbury City Mayor Mr Gary Brennan greeted and thanked everyone for their support of cash donations, food items and Xmas gifts. We finished this year with 38 Machines on A class, 336 on B class and 2 Specials. Ray Buck and I have had busy year in processing 47 new registrations through the Department of Transport and a few bikes have left the club or the member handed their plates in. These have been replaced by the hard working, inspired and dedicated restorers in our club which has maintained the number of bikes on our register. Many of these restorations are pure works of art and there never seems to be a shortage of raw materials still out there waiting to be touched by their magic wands - Well done to you all! There are changes coming to the Licensing Category Concession 404 which covers our bikes that are 25 Years or older. These will be detailed in full when the Department of Transport in conjunction with the CMCC issues the updated information booklet. IHC Members will be kept informed of the effects of these changes as soon as the laws 8

are passed through parliament until then, NO CHANGES can be initiated and rumours that other clubs have already changed are seen by the D.O.T. as jumping the gun. The IHC committee has worked through them in regard to the Constitutional effects so we will be ready to act as soon as we are given the green light. 2014 Examination Day in February this year proved to be a bit slower than last year but as usual was carried out with professional enthusiasm by our hard working team of Scrutineers and was well supported by the ACTIVE members of the club. However there was it was a significant number of INACTIVE Members that required a waste of valuable time and club resources chasing up errant/ lost or missing members without current Roadworthy Certificates. In closing I would like to thank the President and the Committee, a very special thankyou to Ray Buck for all his hard work, encouragement and enthusiasm for the job over many years. Last but not least, all the Scrutineers for their support that makes my job a pleasure. Property Officer. Nil to Report Website Manager During the last year we have added interactive forms to our site that have allowed us to offer online applications and payments for events like the Two Day Rally and also membership payments. We have also started a Facebook page that allows us to offer an alternative to using our main website for displaying photos and posts. Members who have a Facebook account can post photos, videos and comments directly to the page. 9 Unfortunately we have been informed by our website service provider My Southwest of their intention to close the service in September. Although this is an unwelcome development, it does present the club with the opportunity to look at how our website, online and manual payments and back office systems interact and to considerour future requirements. There may be a period of disruption in our services whilst any upgrades take place. Our Facebook page will continue as normal. Election of Office Bearers The President vacated the chair and Mr Ross Eaton took over as Returning Officer, and thanked Eric and the Committee for their good work, then declared all positions vacant and called for a new Committee. The following Members were elected to the Committee for the next 12 months: President Vice-President Secretary Bob Brittain Eric Lawrence Faye Carn Deputy Secretary Vacant Treasurer Captain Vice-Captain Editor Librarian Glenda Patterson Leith Presland Neville Green Doug Baker Amanda Bernhardt Website Manager John Presland Publicity Officer Property Officer Licensing Liaison Officer/Registrar Dating Officer Machine Examiners Bill Pike Eddie Laing Jeff Smith Norm Hart Ray Buck (D of T approved), Murray Rudler, Doug Craigie, Brian Cartwright, Bernie McCormack, Colin Batley, Eric Lawrence, Darryl Warner (BSN area), Graeme Squires (Mandurah area). The Returning Officer thanked the new Committee for standing for office and wished them well for the coming year. The new President Bob Brittain then took the chair.

General Business. There was no general business. Motions put to the 2014 AGM The following motions were put to the Members: Proposed Bernie McCormack, Seconded Richard Clark, that the IHC Membership Fees stay the same as last year Carried. Proposed Bernie McCormack, Seconded Brian Cartwright, that Mr Len Huf, Mr Wally Turner and Mr George Johnson are made Honorary Members of the IHC for the next 12 months Carried. Eric Laurence then auctioned the following: Harley Davidson Jacket - Carl Rogers - $16.00 Leather Jacket Kelly Owen - $15.00 2012 TDR listings - Kelly Owen - $5.00 Mystery Box Max Beatson - $4.00 This resulted in $40.00 being raised for the shed fund.
