Friday 13 th January 2017 Barfield News Website: www.barfieldschool.com Email: admin@barfieldschool.com WELCOME BACK I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Christmas, and I would like to welcome you all back to a new term, and a new year, at Barfield. As usual, a busy term awaits, with the Calendar packed full of exciting events and matches, and I look forward to the school continuing to build upon its recent successes. 2016 was quite a year for Barfield. The "Excellent" ISI Inspection Report and joining The Cothill Educational Trust were two significant, stand-out moments; however, barely a week went by without members of the Barfield community, and those further afield, witnessing an event which showcased the children's talents in one way or another, and a year of these was brought to a wonderful close on the final day of last term with The Carol Service at The Royal Garrison Church. For the first time, we decided to hold a "whole school" Carol Service, and it was a great success. For a montage of photographs, please see the next page. Here's to a great 2017! James Reid A Warm Welcome... to William & Kitty Birkbeck and Kalash & Shristi Rai who have joined us this term. We hope you will be very happy at Barfield. Holiday Fun In The Nursery Happy New Year everyone, and welcome back to school! The Nursery children had a great time over the Christmas holidays, taking part in lots of activities! We came to school dressed snugly in our pyjamas on the 23 rd December for our 'Night Before Christmas' festivities, we made some cheesy biscuits, enjoyed party dancing, drank hot chocolate and had a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog!! It was so exciting! Throughout the rest of the holidays, the children also had a great time showing off their swimming skills, baking cakes and biscuits and taking long winter walks around the school grounds! The Owls children asked to go into the woods to see if the horses we found in the half-term break were still there we were not disappointed as we counted 7 altogether; 6 adults and a baby foal eating lots of hay for lunch!
