Watson s 17 points tied his second-highest total of the season, which he previously accomplished on Nov. 23 vs. Washington. His season (and career high) is 21 points, which he scored on Feb. 12 vs. New Jersey. S HOOTING WOES The Grizzlies are mired in a seven-game losing streak, and a major reason for the skid is team shooting. The Grizzlies are shooting only 41.2% in this stretch, and have shot under 40% twice. Their best shooting night was a 45.3% effort in Los Angeles against the Lakers on Mar. 31. The 41.2% shooting in this losing streak is well below the 45.3% the Grizzlies are shooting overall in the season. OH-FOR-ATLANTA The Grizzlies 97-91 loss in Atlanta on Apr. 5 dropped their record to 0-8 against the Hawks on the road all-time. The Hawks are one of only four teams the Grizzlies have never beaten on the road, the others being Indiana (0-7), the Los Angeles Lakers (0-16), and Seattle (0-15) IT S HOW YOU FINISH The Lakers set a new record for largest comeback by a Grizzlies opponent, coming back from a 23 point deficit on April 4 in the Pyramid. The Grizzlies led 89-66 at the end of the third quarter. However, the Lakers went on a 24-6 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game 98-98 with 1:39 left to play. The previous record was +20 set at the LA Clippers on Nov. 12, 1996. B ATISTE OFF THE BENCH In 25 minutes against San Antonio on Apr. 2, Mike Batiste scored 14 points on 7-13 shooting, and pulled down six rebounds. The 14 points marked his highest total since scoring 15 at Philadelphia on Feb. 26, while the 6 rebounds was his highest rebounding total since pulling down 6 in consecutive games on Mar. 3 vs. Boston and Mar. 5 vs. Denver.

REN S BIG ON THE BOARDS Lorenzen Wright has been a rebounding machine of late, pulling down 10+ rebounds in six of the last eight games, averaging 10.9 boards in that span, including two games with 15 rebounds, tying his season-high. From Mar. 24-31, he went five straight games with 10+ rebounds, the first time this season he s had five straight games with 10+ rebounds, and the second time as a Grizzlie. In addition, Wright tied his season high on April 2 vs. the San Antonio Spurs with 24 points to lead all Grizzlies scorers. MARCH-ING TOWARDS THE END OF THE SEASO N Despite ending the month of March with 3 straight losses, it was the Grizzlies best month of the season and one of the best in team history. With an 8-9 record, the team set a franchise record for wins in a month, which included a six-game winning streak from Mar. 5-16. The Grizzlies set season-highs in points, field goal percentage and assists in March: Month Points Per Game FG% Assists March 102.1.473 26.3 February 100.3.450 21.1 January 97.6.450 21.0 December 93.4.447 23.6 November 95.2.449 21.8 The Grizzlies also had their second-highest three-point percentage of any month at.391, and second best month in points allowed at 99.7 per game. BIG NIGHT FOR MIKE Despite still being bothered by back spasms and being limited to 26 minutes of action, Mike Miller had his biggest game as a Grizzlie on Mar. 30 in Los Angeles against the Clippers. He scored 29 points on 11-19 shooting, his highest point total since joining the Grizzlies. He was also on fire from three- range, going 5-6 from behind the arc. Since returning from his back injury seven games ago, Miller has been on fire from behind the arc, shooting point 53.3% (16-30), contributing to his 53.8% (42-78) shooting from the field overall in that span. Against the Clippers, Miller added 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. A PERSON-AL LOW FROM BEHIND THE ARC Grizzlies shooting g uard Wesley Person struggled from three-point range in March, shooting 38.3% from three-point range. Aside from January, when he played only 3 games due to a fractured finger, that percentage was his lowest of any month this season so far: Month Three-Point % November 44.2% December 60.0% January 28.6% (Limited to 3 games due to a fractured finger) February 41.3% March 38.3% SETTING TEAM RECORDS FOR This season, the Grizzlies have set 24 team records and tied 8 others. GRIZZLIES HEAD COACH HUBIE BROWN The Memphis Grizzlies took a positive leap back to the future when Hubert (Hubie) Jude Brown, one of the premier basketball minds in the business, returned from retirement as an NBA head coach to become the Grizzlies sixth head coach on November 12, 2002. Brown, 69, returns to coaching after leading the New York Knicks to two playoff appearances during five seasons (1982-87) and the Atlanta Hawks to three playoff appearances in five seasons ( 76-81) and spending the last 15 years teaching coaching clinics and serving as an NBA broadcast analyst for three television networks. Over a 30-year successful basketball career - 12 spent with the NBA - Brown has coached teams to five NBA playoff appearances and a championship in the ABA (American Basketball Association). He began his coaching career on the high school level at St. Mary s School in Little Falls, NY (nine years) and then served as an assistant coach for one year at William & Mary (1968) and four years at Duke University ( 69-72). He first moved to the NBA in 72 as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks. After two NBA seasons, Brown accepted an opportunity to serve as head coach of the ABA s Kentucky Colonels, winning the Colonels only ABA championship in franchise history in 75 and reaching the ABA playoffs semifinals in 76. After the ABA and NBA merged in 1976 and the Colonels franchise folded, Brown returned to the NBA as head coach of the Hawks. He finished his first year in Atlanta in sixth place with a 31-51 record. The following season, Brown orchestrated a dramatic improvement in his second season as the Hawks became recognized as a Cinderella team with the youngest cast of players and lowest payroll in the NBA to earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time in five years. He was named NBA Coach of Year in 77 and CBS Coach of the Year in 78. The Hawks captured the Central Division Title with a 50-32 record for the 79-80 season. He compiled a 199-208 (.489) all-time record with the Hawks, ranking fourth among coaches in franchise history. Brown continued his coaching career with the Knicks and led the team to consecutive playoff appearances (1982-83 and 83-84), guiding New York to a memorable first-round playoff victory over the Detroit Pistons in 84. He compiled an 8-10 playoff record in two years, ranking fifth among top coaches in Knicks playoff history. He also ranks among the top five in Knicks coaches history with a 142-202 (.413) overall record. Brown s all-time record as an NBA coach is 341-410 (.454). Since 1982, Brown has served as a sports analyst for both college and pro basketball broadcasts. After leaving the Knicks in 86-87, Brown became the lead analyst at CBS in 1988 where he served for two years. He also worked for the Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons local broadcasts during the 87-88 season in addition to serving as lead analyst with the TNT network for 12 years. He was nominated for a Sports Emmy in 94 and 99.
