Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links JGAOML Information Pack 2014
Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links 2014 Information Pack The Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links is a partnership between the Broughty Golf Club, Grange Golf Club, Monifieth Golf Club, local club professionals at Ron McLeod Pro Shop; and Monifieth Links. We are supported by ClubGolf Scotland. The aim of the Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links is to create a development pathway from entry level through to the highest levels of achievement. We wish to enable: increased access to golf; higher participation levels; improved standards of performance; sustained growth in the future; and enjoyment of golf. The ClubGolf programme was launched in 2003 to fulfil the Scottish Governmentʹs promise to provide every child in Scotland with an opportunity to experience golf, part of Scotlandʹs commitment to the game which formed part of the successful bid to host the 2014 Ryder Cup. Visit www.clubgolfscotland.com for more information. Should you wish to know more about JGAOML or play golf, please do not hesitate to contact any of us. Contact information is at the end of the leaflet. Andy McLaren, Chairman
Primary Schools The Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links in local Monifieth Primary Schools have a six week programme designed to give children aged nine a first introduction to golf. It is designed as a fun activity using colourful, modified golf equipment. ClubGolf in Primary Schools is delivered to P5 children in curriculum time by class teachers or suitably trained and disclosed volunteers. Please ask your Head Teacher for details. The schedule is agreed with Head Teachers at the start of each session. Young golfers will expect to learn some basic golfing concepts and terminology. They will receive a positive first experience of golf, and an opportunity to progress on to a ClubGolf Stage 1 programme at a local golf club or facility. Secondary Schools The Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links have recently been granted funding to offer local Monifieth High S1 and S2 pupils. Professional golf coaches Gordon McLeod and Lee Sutherland host an after school class on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm at the Monifieth Practice Ground. Appropriate clothing is widely available such as golf caps, polo shirts, sweaters or sweatshirts, trousers or dress shorts. These and specialist shoes may be obtained at The Pro Shop. Football shirts, Tee shirts, beach shorts and jeans are not permitted. Volunteers Required The Junior Golf Association of Monifieth Links wishes to have more PGA Level 1 coaches trained.
