Istallatio (cotiuous) Valve moutig Before valve moutig the pipes have to be cleaed ad free from abrasio. Valve must be mouted accordig to flow directio as idicated o valve body. Mechaical loads of the valve body caused by the pipes are ot allowed. Valve should be free of vibratios as well. Sizig Flow Rate (liquid with specific a gravity of 1) l/sec m 3 /h Δpmax FOW Pressure drop kpa (100 kpa = 1bar = ~ 10 m H 2O) Example Desig data: Flow rate: 6 m 3 /h System pressure drop: 55 kpa ocate the horizotal lie represetig a flow rate of 6 m 3 /h (lie A-A). The valve authority is give by the equatio: Valve authority, a p 1 p p 1 2 Where: Δp 1 = pressure drop across the fully ope valve Δp 2 = pressure drop across the rest of the circuit with a full ope valve The ideal valve would give a pressure drop equal to the system pressure drop (i.e. a authority of 0,5): if: Δp 1 = Δp 2 p a 1 0,5 2 p1 I this example a authority of 0,5 would be give by a valve havig a pressure drop of 55 kpa at that flow rate (poit B). The itersectio of lie A-A with a vertical lie draw from B lies betwee two diagoal lies; this meas that o ideally-sized valve is available. The itersectio of lie A-A with the diagoal lies gives the pressure drops stated by real, rather tha ideal, valves. I this case, a valve with k VS 6,3 would give a pressure drop of 90,7 kpa (poit C): 90,7 hece valve authority 0,62 90,7 55 The secod largest valve, with k VS 10, would give a pressure drop of 36 kpa (poit D): 36 hece valve authority 0,395 36 55 Geerally, for a 3 port applicatio, the smaller valve would be selected (resultig i a valve authority higher tha 0,5 ad therefore improved cotrol). However, this will icrease the total pressure ad should be checked by the system desiger for compatibility with available pump heads, etc. The ideal authority is 0,5 with a preferred rage of betwee 0,4 ad 0,7.
