It is the second time Brazil has hosted the Cup, the previous being in 1950. year s World Cup. The venues include Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Recife, Manaus and Curitiba. Many Brazilians have been sceptical about these claims with thousands taking part in street protests, many of which turned into riots. Many Brazilians have questioned the lavish spending on the new stadiums at the expense of schools and hospitals in a country beset with social inequality. Brazilians are right to doubt the economic benefits of hosting a World Cup. Is Brazil ready for the World Cup? Many would say the country isn t ready. Some stadiums and been on strike. There has been allegations of rampant corruption. With Brazil also hosting the Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro will the necessary work be completed on time?
