RULES TEST: LINE JUDGE 1 True or False. The pylons on the inbounds lines (hashmarks) along the endline are three feet off the endline, and may be red, orange or yellow in color. 2 After team A s try and before the following kickoff, all 11 players of team A wish to confer with their head coach (a) on the field within a huddle, or (b) within about nine yards of the sideline near their team s bench. A1's legal forward pass is intercepted by B2 at the A43. B2 advances to the A30 where he fumbles. A3 recovers there and throws a forward pass to A4 who advances for a touchdown. Result? 10 A1 is running for a touchdown. Just before he reaches the goalline, B2 knocks the ball out of his possession and rolls into and out of the endzone. Result?

11 Airborne A1 grabs a pass the A30. B2 grabs him and carries him back to the A27. In the process, A1 drops the ball which rolls out of bounds at the A32. A1 never touched the ground. Result? 12 1st & 10 at the A40. A1 runs to the A44 where he is met by several B players. His progress is slowed but not stopped. The ball is rolling at the B12 when A1 kicks the ball. A2 falls on the ball in end zone for an apparent touchdown. Result? 14 K's free kick is at rest at the 1yd line next to the pylon corner. R1 muffs the ball and it hits the pylon. R1 eventually recovers the ball in the endzone. Result? 15 1st & 10 at the A40. B6, standing in his team box, realizes the defense has only 10 players. He runs 2 yards onto the field at the 50yd line when the ball is snapped. A1 runs to that side where B6 makes the tackle at the A45. Result? 16 1st & 10 at the A20. A1 runs to the A30 where he fumbles near the sideline. He inadvertantly takes couple steps out of bounds without the ball and immediately returns inbounds where he regains possession at the A35 and advances for a TD. Result? 17 1st & 10 at the A20. A1 is calling signals. A77 who is positioned as a tight end is in a 3 pt stance. During A1's cadence, he lifts up and shifts to another position. A2 runs to the A25. Result? 18 R1 leaps and has both feet off the ground when he grabs an untouched free kick near the sideline. R1 lands out of bounds at the R30. Result? 19 1st & 10 at the A40. B1 linebacker is positioned in the gap between the tackle and noseguard. He runs up between them and stomps his foot without encroaching into the NZ. He does this repeatedly in front of guard A2 who flinches. Result? 20 3rd & 7 at the A23. A77 is lined up as a fullback. A1 takes the snap and throws a backward pass to A77 at the A 18 who then throws a forward pass that is caught by A3 who advances for a touchdown. There were five 'other' players wearing 50-79 on the offensive line. Result?

21 2nd & 10 at the A20. Snapper A1 snaps the ball to A2. The ball touches A2 hands for a moment. A2 takes off on an option play leaving the ball between the snapper's legs who just sits there a moment. Soon after, A3 comes up to A1 and takes the ball from the same position and advances to the A35 where he is downed. Result? 22 2nd & 10 at the B45. A1 runs close to the B35. After the play, A1 leaves the field of play to his team box. The officials have ruled 2nd down, but after a closer look and after A1 leaves the field, the R asks for a measurement. After measuring, the line to gain was reached and it is 1st down. A1 attempts to re-enter the game after the measurement. Result? 23 Kickoff hits one of the up players for R and then caroms back to the K40 where it is recovered by K. 24 Kickoff is 1st touched by K1 at R s 30. It then goes out of bounds. 25 A breaks the huddle and A1 goes immediately to his sideline. a-this is your sideline; b-it is the opposite sideline and your coach is calling for a penalty. 26 1st & 10 at the A40. Prior to the snap, B1 shows a blitz and A1 flinches. 27 Same as 7 but B1 enters the neutral zone and then retreats before the snap. 28 A s linemen go into a three point stance and back A1 goes in motion simultaneously. a-a1 sets before the snap; b-a1 continues in motion 29 1st & 10 at the A35.
