I only have one item to go over this month and it is an important one, election of new officers. To start with I will NOT rerun for president. I have done it for around 9 years and I am getting close to being burned out and that would not be fair to the club or all of our members. Also Red Coniston has decided not to re run as treasure, Sidewinder Sid is undecided if he will rerun as VP or not. We still have two positions that were never filled from our last election Secretary and Executive officer. We do have one brave person who wants to throw his name in for President and it is Shady McClary (hope I spelled it correctly). Also I would like to throw my name in for the Executive officer position, this is so I can represent Wild Bunch and can spend more time growing Wild Bunch. If you all have not figured it out by now I really like Wild Bunch, don t misunderstand me I still like to shoot Cowboy and have no plans to stop shooting Cowboy. For me Wild Bunch is a lot more challenging and I like that. Back to elections our bylaws do not say how to do elections or when they need to be (or how long a term is) so what I would like to do is do nominations this month and in FROM THE LSFSC PRESIDENT By Rock Rotten SASS # 90073 Man this year is just flying by and I ve been to more big shoots than ever before. It seems every time I turn around I m loading up the truck and heading out for some major fun. I m readying things as I write this in preparation for the SW Regional. OKC Gun Club is one of my very favorite places to shoot and I sure enjoy the banquet at the Cowboy Hall of Fame. Fortunately I have been steadily improving and had three very good performances in a row. It sure feels good when everything works and Rotten sits by and lets Rock shoot. I suppose embracing my inner Rotten, along with the new hat and Uncle Si beard, have really helped. Now look here Jack.. we gotta get dem gators outta dere! I hope I can hold it together once again. I m sure Rusty Remington won t lie down for me but I got ole Possum Skinner good and sceert. While I m tooting my own horn I have to tell you I was inducted into the Jedi Gunfighters at the Hellfire match. Widdermaker Hill and Possum Skinner inducted me, my brother Stumpman, and Texas Jack Daniels during the Saturday night banquet.

Then we can use December as a transition month with the new officer will take over in January. So if you are interested in any of the positions let me or any of the current officers know. ROCK ROTTEN CONTINUED It sure was a surprise and an honor. Congratulations to my brother and TJD! I can now levitate from shelf to shelf and curve bullet trajectories in flight. I m having a little trouble corralling that shotgun pattern though. My light saber is still at the gunsmith s getting all slicked up probably be a good year before I get it back. There is no try, only do. So the Russian bear is restless. I d be very wary of the bear. I hear lots of comments commending Putin for going after ISIS and I must say it s about time someone did but this could get ugly. Very ugly and this is definitely not about fighting ISIS. Obama is poking that bear make no mistake. We have that worthless commander in chief to thank for all this turmoil and now he wants to resettle how many Syrian refugees in the US? And Angela Merkle? That hag is asking for trouble. Germany can no more handle a million refugees that I can eat one of those Amarillo steaks. I feel for the everyday German. They will pay and pay dearly. Pick your conspiracy theory. I think they all fit. So they think they can round up 300 million guns but they say you can t round up 10 million illegal aliens. Don t you just love the common core math this administration uses? It s the same math they use to calculate the unemployment numbers no doubt.

ROCK ROTTEN CONTINUED So how about Boehner finally deciding to get the hell out of the way and resigning as speaker of the house? And Kevin McCarthy backing down from the nomination? Whew! Dodged a bullet there. Can we please elect a conservative, a real conservative to this post? Someone who will not capitulate to the liberal commie democrats. Someone who will do what we elected all these conservative to do. I think the American people are screaming We are tired of your political crap! We are tired of a lawless government! Do your job and obey the constitution! Get off your gun control high horse. We WILL NEVER give them up! Now that s got me good and ready to sling some iron and throw some lead downrange. Paint some jihadi s on the targets and watch me go under 10 seconds! I m using my 2nd Amendment right! Southwest Regional, here I come! The Recapture of Cynthia Ann Parker What Really Happened By German Jack Fordern SASS# 101556 We have all read many stories about the recapturing of Cynthia Ann Parker. The story is one of the most well known and oft-repeated accounts in the frontier history of northwest Texas. As the story goes, Texas Ranger Captain L.S. Sul Ross led a Texas Ranger victory against a superior force of Comanche warriors in December of 1860. As the story goes, so singular a victory had never been gained over the fearsome Comanche. As a result, the great Comanche Confederacy was broken forever. Supposedly, the Comanche village contained between 500 and 600 Indians, of which 150 to 200 were warriors. The story goes that Rangers attacked and chased fleeing Indians 12 miles; by the end of the chase they counted 70 Comanche on horseback carrying 32 dead or wounded companions. Returning from the chase, the Rangers carried seven Comanche scalps. We are to believe that the Texas Rangers, on tired and worn out horses, chased 109 Indians for 12 miles, inflicting 39 casualties, while at the same time suffering no losses of their own. Many different versions of the battle keep floating around. History is written by the winners, and recorded by the publishers. Capt. Ross and his Texas Rangers reportedly recaptured Cynthia Ann Parker. So, what really happened? Sul Ross led 47 Texas Rangers, but there were also 23 U.S. Army troops. A third group included 70 or more militiamen. Charles Goodnight was a scout for Sul Ross. Half the Ranger horses (and all of those used by the militiamen) were in poor condition. As a result, the citizens and at least half of the Rangers fell behind. By the time of the raid on the Comanche camp, they were four or five miles behind, and did not participate in the attack. So the Battle of Pease River wasn t really a fight between a company of Texas Rangers and a band of Comanche warriors. This was a swift, early December morning attack by federal troops and a few Texas Rangers on a small Comanche hunting camp one populated by women and children. In reality, just off the Pease River along Mule creek, not more than 23 federal troops surprised a small Comanche hunting camp. There were about 15 of them in all, mostly women and children. The fight was over in 20 minutes. The Texas Rangers and federal troops killed seven Comanche, four women and three men. The U.S. cavalrymen captured two Comanche, Cynthia Ann Parker and her infant daughter; about six Comanche got away. The Texas Rangers had not captured Cynthia Ann Parker at all. Charles Goodnight said later that none of the Rangers killed any of the women or children. The Truth: One Texas Ranger from 1928 was quoted as saying, I was in the Pease River fight, but I m not very proud of it. There was no battle, but just the killing of women and children. Sul Ross served in the Confederate Army as a general. In 1886, he was trying to get elected governor. By then, the legend was spread that so singular a victory had never been gained over the fearsome Comanche. According to the legend, the Battle of the Pease River was what broke the great Comanche Confederacy. While totally untrue, such stories made Sul Ross famous. He was able to become Governor of Texas, and an early President of the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas, now Texas A&M University. German Jack Fordern (a.k.a.
