Total Cycling Distance = 977 km (607 miles) An exotic road bike journey on traffic deserted roads along the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, going from Bangkok to the island of Phuket in the south of Thailand. This trip is full of variety as we pass lush plantations, green rice paddies, magnificent temple sites, as well as tropical jungle and bizarre limestone karsts. We ride mostly on roads that are practically traffic deserted, directly down the coastline where we experience lots of traditional villages. Most stages finish at beautiful beaches, perfect for swimming and relaxing. Enthusiastic cyclists and culture lovers of all ages, this is the cycling tour for you! Bangkok Bangkok, the pulsating metropolis of Thailand, offers uncountable choices for excursions, including temple visits, palaces, klongs, museums. With all the culinary treats that one could desire and a true shoppers paradise. There is the opportunity to visit the huge Chatuchak weekend market on the Saturday before the tour starts. We recommend that you stay a couple of days before the road bike tour in Bangkok. We are happy to help you book your accommodation in Bangkok and can provide you with further information as required. 1 st day - arrival to Bangkok The participants check in to their rooms in the 4* Hotel on Sukhumvit Road in the heart of Bangkok. In the evening we welcome you in the hotel lobby. You will receive all the information regarding the tour, as well as interesting details about your host country. Afterwards, we will hand over the team jersey to all participants, followed by the opportunity to get to know each other over dinner. 2 nd day Bangkok City bike tour After lunch, we meet at the hotel lobby for an excursion to the original Bangkok City. We ride on city bikes through narrow streets and past colourful markets. After visiting a Buddhist Temple we cross the majestic Chao Phraya river by boat. On Pak Kret Island, we dive into a completely different Bangkok with lots of plantations and green jungle. At approximately 5 PM, we start the short journey back to the hotel. The evening is yours, to enjoy at your own leisure. Prepare yourself for the unique culinary variety of Bangkok's gourmet world. 3 rd day 1 st stage, Bangkok Phetchaburi Hua Hin = 73 km (45 miles), flat We leave Bangkok in a comfortable minibus in the direction of Phetchaburi, for a 1.5 hour drive to the start location. For our starting stage, we roll along the flat side roads along the shoreline to Cha Am, where we rest for lunch. For the last miles to Hua Hin we ride along the lightly trafficked main roads. Hua Hin is Thailand s oldest seaside resort and welcomes us with plenty of good restaurants, shops, and a 5 km (3 miles) long white sandy beach. In the afternoon, we will check in at the 5* Hua Hin Hilton Hotel and refresh ourselves in the big pool. page 2 of 8
4 th day 2 nd stage, Hua Hin Prachuap Khiri Khan = 119 km (74 miles), flat After a delicious breakfast, we drive the first 13 km (8 miles) on the main road, and then continue riding on very smooth rural roads where plenty of shrimp farms shape the country side. We cross the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and head towards the sleepy town of Prachuap Khiri Khan. We arrive on the seaside promenade and ride on to our hotel located directly by the sea. In the evening we have the opportunity to enjoy plenty of fine local specialities. 5 th day 3 rd stage, Prachuap Khiri Khan Haad Ban Krut = 63 km (39 miles), mostly flat We ride along good quality side roads, and then continue on the main road. We then leave this road and ride the last 15 km (9 miles) back on side roads to the beach of Haad Ban Krut our finishing point for the day s stage. The tiny village is one of Thailand s hidden gems. At the end of the idyllic beach, perfect for swimming, is a very nice hilltop temple site. Here, we enjoy the view over the enchanting bay and the surrounding area covered by green foliage. The resort is located directly on the dreamlike sandy beach, beckoning us to relax. page 3 of 8
6 th day 4 th stage, Haad Ban Krut Chumphon = 122 km (76 miles), rolling We cycle this slightly rolling stage on side roads rich in variety, passing many plantations, rice paddies and palm tree groves. In the little villages, we are always greeted with heartily "Hellos". The beach of Ao Thung Wua Laen is our finishing point for the day and is located 15 km (9 miles) outside of Chumphon. 7 th day R&R in Chumphon The rest day offers us the opportunity to sleep in, relax or stay by the hotel pool. Nature lovers may prefer the white sandy beach and the warm sea. Later on treat yourself to a massage! Those with energy can enjoy an additional ride in the area. Chumphon is considered as the door to the South of Thailand, and therefore there are plenty of places to explore. Or you can enjoy the day on this beautiful beach, which is another hidden gem! 8 th day 5 th stage, Chumphon Ranong = 140 km (86 miles), rolling After 15 km (9 miles), we arrive in Chumphon, the capital of the province. The road then gets a bit steeper, rolling and winding through splendid fruit orchards and tall palm trees with fan like tops. On the way, we will taste the local Dim Sum specialities. We pass the Isthmus of Kra, the narrowest part of the Malaysian peninsular. Ranong, our destination for the day, is located on the Indian Ocean. Here we check in to the hotel, which offers a hot spa, thermal pools and a swimming pool where we can unwind. The thermal waters are highly regarded for their healing effects. The wellness facility invites us to a well-earned massage. page 4 of 8
9 th day 6 th stage, Ranong Kuraburi = 127 km (78 miles), rolling We gently make our way on flat roads, with our view set on the rain forest in the distance. We climb for the last miles up to the stage finishing point, where our hotel is located like an oasis in the middle of the jungle. The beautiful resort is set in a splendid garden with a little lake and a swimming pool inviting us for a refreshing bath. We let the feeling of the evergreen rain forest sink in. 10 th day 7 th stage, Kuraburi Khao Sok National Park = 86 km (53 miles), gently rolling, final ascent Our stage begins today with a descent winding through rubber plantations, coconut groves and little villages. After 35 km (22 miles) we reach the quiet main road to Khao Sok. Shortly before the stage ends, a 5 km (3.2 miles) long ascent leads us right thro ugh the jungle into the National Park. After enjoying a short descent we reach today s final destination. We move into our nice bungalows for a refreshing shower. As part of the program, we will go to the nearby river for a canoe tour where we pass by bizarre limestone rocks and dense jungle. The Khao Sok National Park is famous for its huge variety of plants and wildlife, such as bears, leopards and tigers. page 5 of 8
11 th day 8 th stage, Khao Sok Phang Nga = 81 km (50 miles), gently rolling For the first 40 km (25 miles), we ride on the quiet main road to Phanom. We carry on through limestone rocks topped with jungle vegetation. Pedalling on a beautiful rural road, we reach Thap Put where we spend the next 2 days at the 5* Resort Borsaen Villa, located near Phang Nga, the provincial capital. Every participant stays in an exclusive villa with private pool. This unique resort is nestled in a scenic park, where you have the choice of relaxing, wellness treatment or a mini-golf tournament. 12 th day Day of rest and boat trip to Phang Nga Bay The extravagant resort makes this rest day a special delight. In the afternoon we glide in longboats through a world of stony isles, overgrown with lush green vegetation. The Phang Nga Bay national marine park is well-known for its unspoilt mangrove landscape. The rock formations are famous from the James Bond film "The man with the golden Gun", giving the trip it s name as the "James Bond Island Tour" 13 th day 9 th stage, Phang Nga Khao Lak = 75 km (47 miles), gently rolling, 1 long ascent We retrace our steps back to Thap Put along a gently inclined road that twists and turns through the thick jungle. After the descent, a rolling rural road leads us through a wonderful tropical landscape to the shore of the Andaman Sea. The hotel is situated on the seafront of Nang Thong Beach. page 6 of 8
14th day, final stage and end of an exciting tour 10th stage, Khao Lak Phuket island = 90 km (56 miles), rolling / flat We ride to today s finishing point on the main road towards Phuket. After 55 km (34 miles) we cross the famous Sarasin Bridge, and reach Thailand s biggest island. The exciting journey finally ends at the Siam Bike Tours Shop in Choeng Thale (Laguna). Proud of what we have achieved, but with a little melancholy that this incredible road bike tour is already over, we lift our glasses with a refreshing drink to propose a toast to the tour.
