HOWS AND EVENTS Campo The Arabian Horse joined Expo Grande between April 23 and 24, in Campo Grande, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, one of the largest agricultural fairs in Brazil, which stirred around US$ 100 million with the trading of cattle, horses and farm machinery. Located in the Midwestern Brazilian State of Mato Grosso do Sul, slightly larger than Germany, which has one of the largest cattle herds in the country and is a major grain producer. However, it is worldwide famous for its biodiversity. The Pantanal complex and Serra da Bodoquena National Park are two areas of great natural beauty that attract tourists from all over the world. The Arabian Horse was part of the colonization of the State. The Brazilian Army, which strategically cooperated in pioneering the area, created, in their stud farm, Thoroughbred Arabian horses, which provided stallions for the farmers to improve their work troops. 444 TUTTO ARABI www.tuttoarabi.com
Grande SHOWS AND EVENTS The raising of such horses is traditional in the region and ExpoGrande Arabian Show is the greatest expression of the breed in the State. The breeders develop very specific programs which often achieve national and international success. This year, in the exhibit opening, Haras Engenho, property of Laucídio and Inês Coelho, welcomed the breeders to present their new imported stallions: Primero Marc, imported from Poland in a leasehold, and Thee Apprentice (by Versace), imported from Belgium. Apprentice is part of a partnership between Haras Engenho, Meia Lua, property of Lenita Perroy, and Morab, property of Benedito Morato. Exactly 92 horses were taken to the tracks to be judged by Gary MacDonald from the USA. He made EZ Wajd Halston the Champion Stallion, and Monna El Hylan the Champion Mare of ExpoGrande Arabian Show. EZ Wajd Halston is a breeding of Ueze Zahran from Haras El Zahran and belongs to Raquel Robaldo from Estância Mita Porã. He is the grandson of Padrons Psyche through *Halston, imported by Polé Levy. Monna s father is Hylan (BF Renaissannce by Bey Shah) breeding of Haras Meia Lua, property of Lenita Perroy. The mother is Melina Vasc (AF Vasco by *Basco) breeded by Haras Engenho itself which, besides Monna, made the Reserve Champion Horse Horus El Jahad (Jahad El Ludjin x Hamar Nej by *Nejny); Champion Colt with Negueb El Hylan (Hylan x Nagoya De Wiec by Debowiec); the Reserve Champion Jr. Filly with Batys El Hylan (Hylan x Beatriz El Jamaal (by *Ali Jamaal); all three of its breeding, and the Reserve Champion Filly Thelia T (Dinar El Johann x Almoeda though *Nejny), Edson Tarifa s breeding. The Reserve Champion Mare *SW Magnolia (Magnum Psyche x RA Akua by Kadraj NA) is a breeding of Charles Moseley from the USA and was exhibited by Mauro Dodero from Haras Santa Rita. Campo Grande SHOWS AND EVENTS Champion Jr. Colt *Magwan HDT Reserve Champion Jr. Colt Furiat MTJ Jr. Colt *Magwan HDT and the Reserve Champion Colt Kameron Mirage OD. *Magwan came to Brazil at side of the Reserve Champion Mare SW Magnolia. His father is HDT Prince of Marwan (by Marwan Al Shaqab). Kameron is the son of Mirage LM and Kati Marines, a granddaughter of El Shaklan by Samr NA and was bred by Osmar Dutra from Haras Recanto dos Pássaros. From the sire Mirage LM also came the Jr. Filly Champion, Ametista Al Jade (x Tahyla HVP though *NV Sure Fire) breeding of Moacyr de Almeida Filho, and the Reserve Champion Jr. Macho Furiat MTJ (AF Falhoe by El Nabila B), breeding of Marco Túlio Lopes Filho. The Champion Filly, Phenycia AMW, is a breeding of Haras Jeribah, property of Flavio Regis Wanderley.
