Offcial Newsletter of the Rock Valley Anglers Your new club offcers are: President: Vice President: Treasurer: Secretary: Librarian: Activities: Denny Leis Craig Roberts John Driscoll Ron Snippen Rodney Bondele Agenda for our Next Club Meeting: As many of you are aware, a group of the newly elected board members have assembled a team that has spent the better part of the last five friday nights meeting to discuss the future of the club. I would like to thank Francine Ludtke, Ted Fish, Roger Sands, Dan Corfman, Mike Piranio, Rodney Bondele, John Driscoll, John Rassmussen, Dan ainger, and Jalen Riddle for taking as many as 15-20 hours away from their family's and other activities to contribute so much time and effort to our club. Even as the new board transitions to make many of these ideas a reality for our future, we continue to seek new ideas and input form any and all club members who would like to participate in this process! What we can share with you as of this newsletter is already quite exciting. We meet again this friday night, Please come join us!!!! This is the future of your club. First: The club has a new Facebook page. This is a new addition to our previously existing closed private group on Facebook. This new open public page has already had an inpact on internet / google searches as your club now shows up and is recognized by google!!! Just google our club and see what happens!! Now, anyone in the general public can find us in cyberspace and check out what we are all about!!! Second: New club member Dan Corfman has taken on the role of Media / Web Consultant / Public Relations Dierector and has given an enormous amount of time to help in these endeavors. As of this printing, we have an actual club web page under construction!, and has now gone live!!! We have a new home: WWW.ROCKVALLEY ANGLERS.COM This is a very cool and exciting development as well. This will be an invaluable tool for recruiting new members, advertisers, and putting our organization in a very positive public relations spotlight. Third: Our committee is prepared to step out on a major advetiser recruitment drive in the near future. You can help by suggesting businesses, guides, tackle shops, taxidermists ect... that might want ot sponsor our club and advertise with us. We already have commitments From four new advertisers! Fourth: Our committee is also prepared to undergo a major recruitment drive for new members. Our first phase will include getting brochures and bussiness cards made for our members. We would encourage all members to distribute these and help attract friends and Fishing enthusiasts to join us!!! Another part of this initial phase will be our club's presence at the Madison Fishing show handing out the new brochures to visitors at the show. Our presence there will include laptops with our web info, pictures and membership applications. Fifth: The club has reserved next December 6 th at the Road Dawg to hold our first Garage Sale event. More info. To follow!!!! Sixth: The club has confirmed a meeting this month (Feb. 22nd) with the members of the executive board of the Yahara Fishing club in Madison to formalize a working relationship with the two clubs. This has a real chance to be a great opportunity for both clubs!!! Club new business: Rest assured, this advisory group that has been meeting has been working very hard to make any and all positive changes that we agree will help strengthen and support the long term health of this club. There have been ZERO votes taken. ALL ideas and suggestions have gone through a thorough examination and discussion process. It is our intention to have essentially an open floor Executive Board meeting this month to lay out a set of goals, plans, ideas, and changes to move our organization into an even more successful future. We would ask each and every member to attend this meeting, and please be respectful and cognizant of all of the time and efforts our committee has put forth to be ready to present these ideas to the membership at large.. Due to time, and the amount of information you will be presented, we may need to get through the bulk of the presentation before engaging in an open forum of quesitons and answers. The topics to be presented include: Changes to the bylaws, structure of the Executive Board and the creation of new Directors, newsetter topics, fishing contest changes, fund raising programs, membership drive / recruitment, take a guide fishing program, advertising drive, changes to the Wingfest, Auction night (THIS MARCH!!!), membership rewards program, the new internet / web site, changes to our dues structure, meeting locations, and a potential change to our club's name. As you all can see, it is a very thorough examination of where we are as a club, and potential changes to make us a stronger and more successful organization!!! I firmly believe a strong team has been assembled, and the quality of the input and effort has been outstanding thus far. It is my hope that the membership will be able to see many of the benefits of these ideas and proposals, and will help us move many of these ideas forward!!! -2-

Offcial Newsletter of the Rock Valley Anglers Outings and fshing reports: Recent fishing reports: John Driscoll: The Perch have been active on Mendota over the last month. Groups of us have headed up there to try the deep water perch fishery and have been quite successful. The best option is to go out of the west side Mendota county Park at Middleton and walk out to the Perch grounds. These fish have averaged a solid 7.5-10 inches and each day we have seen between 25-40 or so fish. Look for 60-70 feet of water with fish suspended as high as 10-20 feet off the bottom. A good vexilar or marcum is a must as you will see these lone wolves as the locals call them. Those suspended fish are almost always very active and hungary and will strike you bait almost every time. Dave Dockus: The bluegill and crappie fishing at Delevan Lake has been spoty at best. Somedays there are good numbers being reported while other days they are seeing better size but fewer fish. The depth has been between 4-6 feet near the golf course or the marina on north side of the lake. Dave Dockus, John Driscoll, Rdney Bondele, and : The past weekend we tagged along with the Yahara fishing club on their annual whitefish outing. I was very impressed with their hospitality and willingness to help us rookies have success out on the deep waters of Green Bay near Sturgeon Bay. We fished in 65-100 feet of water, and once we got the hang of the whitefish bite, the presentation, and the rigging necessary to get the job done we ended up catching 60 very nice sized whitefish. A very big thanks to Tom Klein who put together a wonderful lunch out on the ice for the 30 of us who went on this outing. We had a great time and learned a lot about this great winter fishing opportunity. Upcoming fishing outings: The next club organized outings will be near the March time frame as we await the dying days of winter to head north on the annual trek to Depere for the tremendous spring Walleye run on the lower Fox river. Mark your calendars, set aside the last two weekends of March as possible outing weekends depending on when winter decides to loosen its grip on the midwest. The last few years we have been on the river by mid-march, so barring a very cold end of February or early march, look for updates on the club's website and facebook page for more information. The bay Motel will once again honor our club discount for weekend or overnight trips during this time. Also, we are inviting the members of the Yahara fishing club to join us, so look to these trips as an excellent opportunity to meet some new fishermen, and catch some of the biggest Walleyes in the midwest. The Yahara club has an outing planned for March on the Clement's barge on the upper Mississippi pools. Contact Rodney Bondele or to get more information about their outing. April will see us head back to the northland for a trip the first few weekends to the Menominee river for huge Green Bay Walleyes. This annual event has the real possibility to produce Walleyes in the 10-14 pound range. The best time on most years is April 1 st through the 8th. Early April is also when the early Crappie and Bluegill season gets underway, make sure to contact Leonard Doubleday to stay on top of the very best early season panfishing destinations. The month of May is chalk full of great fishing! Your choices should focus on the multiple White Bass destinations from the Wolf River, to the Wisconsin river at Neceedah and Necoosa. The Crappie bite at Lake Wisconsin becomes a very worth while endeavvor the first few weekends of May as well.. May is also when the Yahara club heads up to the Southern pat of Green bay for a trolling and drift fishing Walleye outing. Again, this is an excellent opportunity to experience some of the very best Walley fishing in the state!!!! May would not be complete withot our annual trips to the world class Smallmouth fishery of Big bay de Noc. We are headed to the UP to chase these trophy fish the wekend before Memrial day, and Memorial Day weekend. This can be a once in a lifetime experience, we will be taking tis outing with the Yahara club members, and the Nahma Inn only has about 12-15 rooms, so plan ahead and let Rodney or I know if you wish to be a part of this trip The Yahara club is joining with us to offer two Eagle Lake Ontario trips this summer. Please contact Rodney Bondele for details.. -3-
