President: Gale Haas 715-271-1844 Vice President: James McDonald Secretary: Etta McDonald Treasurer: Harold Snortheim Past President: Linda Soltis-Schroeder March, 2017 Hallie Optimist Club PO Box 3011 Eau Claire, WI 54702-3011 hallieoptimist@gmail.com Hallieoptimistclub.org Hallie Optimist Club News BOB RADANDT; AN OPTIMISTIC GUY WITH A CAN DO ATTITUDE Bob Radandt is one of those people who always has a smile for you. We asked him a few questions about what it is like to be an Optimist. Bob joined Hallie Optimist on July 28, 1992. Why did you join the Hallie Optimist Club? Because of John Van Beek. He lived next door and kept asking me to join. Prior to that I got to know the Optimist because of the snowmobile races they used to have across from the old town hall. They always asked to borrow my generator. What is your favorite event and why? Hooked on Fishing at Lake Hallie. The kids are so proud of the little fish they catch! I ve always gone to that event. I always weigh the fish and see how long they are. And these little kids come with minnows and they think they are whales. I get a kick out of that. What is your most notable accomplishment within the Optimist? Picking up the aluminum cans for so many years. I put out receptacles so the businesses could recycle the aluminum cans and would pick them up every week. We take those cans to Victor Spickler who always gave us a good rate. We use that money to help families of kids with cancer in the Chippewa Valley. (continued on page 8) OUR MISSION By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids. OPTIMIST CREED Promise Yourself- To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
