HUNTER DIVISION Point Tabulations (GR1131 & GR1132) UNITED STATES EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION AWARDS ALL BASED THINGS ON EQUESTRIAN POINTS AWARDS BASED ON POINTS Point Tabulation: In A, B or C rated hunter sections, points are determined by adding one point for each entry to the base points listed on the increment chart below. Base points per section rating: C B A AA 1 st 10 15 20 25 2 nd 6 10 15 20 3 rd 4 8 12 16 4 th 3 6 9 12 5 th 2 5 8 11 6 th 1.5 4 7 10 7 th 1 3 6 9 8 th.5 2 5 8 For the purpose of calculating points, the number of entries for all classes in a hunter section is determined by the number of entries that compete in the first performance class of the section, except the High Performance Hunter, Performance Hunter 3 6, and Performance Hunter 3 3, where points will be calculated based on the number of entries that competed per individual class. In the under saddle classes points will be calculated on the number of horses entered. Points are calculated by adding the point value on the increment chart to the number of entries that competed in the first performance class of the section. For example, in a C rated section with 5 entries in the first class, the value of a third place ribbon will be 9 points. This is calculated by adding 4 points from the 3 rd place ribbon in the C rated chart to 5, which is the number of entries that competed in the first class. If the first performance class of the hunter section has fewer than three entries that compete, points will be determined by the number of entries that competed in the second performance class of the section. **Please note the definition of compete can be found in HU133 of the rulebook.** To determine points for Zone Awards, ribbons won in any A or B rated section will receive base points plus number of entries that competed based on the B point chart. Small Hunter, Ladies Side Saddle, Adult Amateur, Children s Hunter and Pre-Green are always C rated and will receive base points plus number of entries that competed based on the C point chart. Half points are given for all model classes. Model points are determined by taking half of the points listed on the chart and then adding the number of entries. Championship and Reserve Championship: Division champions will be awarded 2.0 times the total 1st place point value of the first class in that section. The first place point value is the number of entries that competed added to the base points on the chart. For example, in an AA section with nine entries that competed in the first class, the Championship for that section would earn 68 points. This is calculated by adding 9 (#of entries that compete) to 25 (1 st place base points for AA ) and then multiplying the outcome by 2. Division reserve champions will be awarded 1.2 times the total 1 st place value of the first class in that section. This is calculated the same way as the Championship except you multiply by 1.2. 12.1.16
There are two National Horse of the Year Awards offered for Green Hunter 3, 3 3, 3 6, and 3 9, High Performance Hunter, Performance Hunter 3 3 and 3 6, Green Conformation Hunter 3 6 and High Performance Conformation Hunter. One national award will be based on points, and one national award will be based on money won. Zone awards in those sections will continue to be based on the point chart. AWARDS BASED ON MONEY WON The prize money awarded in individual classes of a hunter section that has an award based on money won will be reported by the competition to the Federation with the competition results. The Federation will maintain a record of money won to determine standings for National Horse of the Year Awards in the horse s respective section. Prize money won in the horse s respective hunter section and prize money for hunter classics will be included. Prize money won in the International Hunter Derby will be awarded to a declared hunter section if the horse competes in the declared section at least five (5) times during the competition year. Championship and Reserve Championship: Section champions for First and Second Year Green Hunter, High Performance Working Hunter, Performance Working Hunter, Green Conformation Hunter, and Regular Conformation Hunter will be awarded points equal to 10% of the total prize money for each section towards National Horse of the Year awards. Reserve Champions will be awarded points equal to the amount of 5% of the total prize money for each section. HUNTER CLASSICS Bonus points will be awarded for Horse of the Year Awards in the horse s respective section. These points are calculated by using the respective base value found on the chart in GR1131.5 (see below), adding one point per horse that competes in the classic, and multiplying the result by the designated multiplier (determined by the type of classic and points being awarded). When the first round of a hunter classic is held as one of the existing classes in the hunter section the Zone point multiplier will be 1.25, and the National point multiplier will be 1.75. When the hunter classic has both rounds held separately from the hunter section, the Zone point multiplier will be 1.5, and the National point multiplier will be 2. Classic points are not affected by rating of competition. See the chart used to determine base points below: GR1131.5 Section Rating C B A AA 1st 10 15 20 25 2nd 6 10 15 20 3rd 4 8 12 16 4th 3 6 9 12 5th 2 5 8 11 6th 1.5 4 7 10 7th 1 3 6 9 8th.5 2 5 8 Designated Class as the 1 st Round National Points multiply the result by 1.75) Designated Class as the 1 st Round Zone Points multiply the result by 1.25) Separate 2 Round Classic National Points multiply the result by 2) Separate 2 Round Classic Zone Points multiply the result by 1.5) *denotes these points are awarded based on the number in the first round only. HU143 Example: A horse competes in an A rated separate 2 round classic with 12 entries and wins 1 st place. The base points for an A rated classic equals 20 points, plus the number of entries (12), which totals 32 points. In order to calculate the National points, multiply 32 by 2 to bring the total to 64 bonus points. In order to calculate the Zone points, 32 should be multiplied by 1.5, providing a total of 48 bonus points.
