PROGRAM COMMUNITY INITIATIVES Dear Coaches and Club Sponsor: The York Parks and Recreation Department and the York Police Association would like to invite you to our 26th ANNUAL BASKETBALL CLASSIC TOURNAMENT for boys and girls in grades 3&4, 5&6, and 7&8. The tournament will be held at the York Middle School and York High School gymnasiums, beginning Friday, February 26th, 2016 and running through Sunday, March 6th, 2016. All games will be played on Saturday and Sunday and throughout the week in the evening. The tournament fee is $150.00. The tournament will be DOUBLE elimination and trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each division. The entry deadline will be Friday, February 5, 2016 as long as there is space available. Please make checks payable to THE ANNUAL BASKETBALL CLASSIC and have all registration fees and rosters submitted before the deadline date, as we anticipate a large turnout again this year and this ensures us the time to properly organize this event. Tournament Information 1. The Tournament will be double elimination. 2. Team rosters will be limited to a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 15. 3. Absolutely NO double rostering, including across divisions. Players are allowed to be rostered on one team only. Double rostering may result in expulsion from tournament play and/or team forfeiture. 4. All team players must have identical shirts and all shirts must be numbered. 5. All officials will be provided through the tournament director. 6. Each team will be responsible for their own valuables. Locker Rooms are not available for use. 7. Each team will be responsible for providing a scorekeeper for each game. Score sheets will be available for you to use. 8. Those teams finishing in the top two positions will be presented individual awards at a presentation at the conclusion of their final game. 9. The coach of the team is responsible for the proper conduct of his players, other coaches, team members and fans associated with the team as well as his own behavior while participating in the tournament. If proper behavior is not exhibited by those people associated with said team, it could result in forfeiture and expulsion from the tournament at that time and in future years. It is also the responsibility of each coach to make players and parents aware of tournament rules. 10. Admission fee per day for spectators will be $2.00 per person/$1.00 for students. GAME RULES 11. ALL TEAMS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE THE COURT UP TO 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED GAME TIME. GAMES MAY START EARLY AT THE REFEREE AND TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR S DISCRETION. 12. All games will be 2 (two), fourteen (14) minute halves, stopped time. In the last 7 minutes of each game, if a team is ahead by more than 25 points the remainder of the game will be played with running time. If the team that is down is able to bring the spread back within 20 points, stopped time will be resumed.
13. 3 rd & 4 th grade teams ONLY will have a designated foul line that is 3 feet forward from regulation. Players stepping over the designated foul line will result in a violation. 14. 3 rd & 4 th Grade and 5 th & 6 th Grade Divisions NO ZONE DEFENSE, teams are required to man v. man. 15. Teams that do not get back will be given a warning at the first and second offense and a technical for the 3 rd offense. 16. 3 rd & 4 th grade and 5 th & 6 th grade divisions will be allowed to FULL COURT PRESS AND TRAP in the final two (2) minutes of each half. Once the ball has crossed the ½ court line all players must return to a man v. man defense. 17. There is not a press rule for 7th and 8th grade, these teams will be allowed to press at their discretion. 18. All levels NO FULL COURT PRESS allowed if you are a team that has a 15 point (or more) spread over your opponent. 19. Each team will receive two full time outs and 2 thirty sec. time outs per game. 20. Two (2) minute overtime, if needed with one (1) time out. Time outs from regulation do not carry forward. For 3 rd & 4 th and 5 th & 6 th grade divisions, press will be allowed in the final minute of the overtime. 21. Any if necessary championship games will be determined in a one (1) quarter play-off game immediately following the scheduled game. Each team will receive two (2) time outs (regulation time outs are not carried forward). 3 rd & 4 th and 5 th & 6 th grade divisions will be allowed to press in the final 2 minutes. 22. Absolutely NO jewelry will be allowed for any reason during play. 23. Absolutely NO hard casts will be allowed to be worn during play. Travel about 1/8 of a mile on Organug Road and York Middle School is located on your left. Travel to the top of a hill and take a left at the lights onto Route 1A. Travel one mile to the monument and bear left. Travel six-tenths of a mile and turn right onto Long Sands Road. York High School is seven-tenths of a mile on the left.
