Our success has depended mainly on the help of every organization of men and women in the county and numerous county and city officials. At the risk of leaving someone out, we especially want to express our appreciation for the assistance given to the Fair by the following: City of Conway (especially the Mayor s office, the City Council and the Parks & Recreation Department), Faulkner County (especially the County Judge s office, County Road Department, and Quorum Court), the Agriculture Teachers at all of the County Schools, the many 4-H volunteers, Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, Faulkner County Master Gardeners, the numerous individuals that volunteer to serve on the many Fair committees and all our exhibitors. 2017 CAMPER RESERVATIONS - Due to increased requests for camper spaces in 2016 we have reconfigured the camping area to allow for more campers. In 2017, each electrical pedestal will accommodate three (3) campers. Space should be available for approximately 42 campers. We had more than 42 requests for camper spaces in 2016. - Camper spaces are available on a first come, first served basis for livestock exhibitors only. If we receive more requests than spaces available on the first day reservations are open we will draw names for the available spaces. Once all spaces have been reserved, no more reservations will be accepted. Camper reservations will be assigned a camper space number. Campers must be located in their assigned space. - The fee for a camper space is $50.00 for the week. Non-payment of the $50.00 fee will result in forfeiting of the reservation. - No campers will be allowed before Saturday September 16, 2017. All campers must be removed from the Fairgrounds by 3:00 pm Sunday September 24, 2017. - Due to an increase of camper spaces and overall limited space, each camper will be allowed parking space for ONE VEHICLE. Each camper reservation will receive ONE VEHICLE PASS. This pass must be displayed on the vehicle as instructed. Only one (1) vehicle with the required pass will be allowed to park at each camper space. All violators of this policy will have their vehicle towed at the owner s expense. - Reservations will be accepted beginning on Saturday July 1, 2017. FAULKNER COUNTY FAIR BOARD SCHOLARSHIP The Faulkner County Fair Board Academic Scholarship is open to any senior graduating from a Faulkner County High School (public, private, or homeschool). The applicant must have participated in activities of the Faulkner County Fair. The total scholarship amount and number to be awarded is determined annually, and is prorated on a per semester basis for the winning student s first year of post high school education. Funds are paid directly to the school of higher education the student will attend. Applications are available in the counselor s office of all high schools in Faulkner County and online at www.faulknercountyfair.net. The application deadline is April 1 st of each year. FAULKNER COUNTY FAIR DOG SHOW Dog show begins Friday, September 22, at noon (12 p.m.) until all classes are finished or approximately 5 p.m. 1. Dogs are required to show proof of Rabies. Dogs are encouraged to have Distemper, and Parvo vaccines but not required. 2. Dogs will not be permitted in the livestock barn area at any time. 3. Dogs do not need to be registered or purebred. 4. Dogs do not need to be spayed or neutered, however no dog in season will be allowed to show. 5. Exhibitors will wear jeans and Faulkner County Dog Show T-shirt for the show. 6. Exhibitors may substitute another dog with a note from their vet. 7. Exhibitors should have ownership of the dog by June 1, 2017. 8. Exhibitors should be in good standing with a club. 9. Dogs should be at least 6 months old to compete, except for agility, which is one year. 10. Exhibitors must clean up after their dog and carry bags with them at the show site. 11. Dogs must be kept on leash or in a crate, except when being judged. 12. Dogs cannot be left unattended in a crate or especially in a hot vehicle. 13. No aggressive dogs will be allowed at the show site. This includes aggression toward humans or other animals. 14. No electric collars, no pinch collars Dogs should be trained in the class they are competing in. Exhibitors should display good sportsmanship. Exhibitors are expected to use good judgment and proper care for their dog at the show site (providing water and exercise during the show). Exhibitors should have their dogs clean and free of fleas and ticks. There will be a fee of $5 per class for obedience and agility classes for exhibitors 9-19 years of age. No charge for PeeWee exhibitors (ages 5-8). No charge for showmanship classes. The other classes will be divided into Junior (ages 9-12), Intermediate (ages 13-15), and Senior (ages 16-19). Ages per class may vary as needed to fill classes. Show Prep classes offered: This is an important step in training your dog to have fun with you! This can keep your dog safe.

Classes Obedience, Beginning Novice- Flat buckle collar or choke (nylon or metal) 6 foot leash, treats are allowed. All exercises on leash. Heel, Heel fig 8, sit or stand for exam, recall, long sit 1 min, long down 3 min, (handler may remain next to dog) Obedience, Advanced - Heel on leash, Heel off leash, fig 8, stand for exam, recall across ring, long sit 1 min, long down 3 min, (handler across ring) Treats are not allowed. Showmanship- this class judged on the handler s ability to present the dog. Handler needs to be able to gait the dog and stack the dog to be examined by the judge. Handler may be asked questions about their dog. Treats and toys are allowed. Agility, Beginning- This is a very active and entertaining class. Keeps you and your dog exercised.-flat buckle collar and no tags only. There will be jumps, and tunnels for this class. This will be a timed event. Exercises may be performed on leash, leash may be dropped at tunnel. There will be 5 jumps and 2 tunnels. Handlers and dogs will have a time to walk the course before competing. Treats and toys are allowed. Agility, Advanced- Jumps, Tunnels, 6 Weave poles and A frame. Exercises are off leash. Penalties for refusals, off courses and dropped bars. Handlers will walk the course before competing. Treats and toys not allowed. FOOD PRESERVATION DEPARTMENT B FOOD PRESERVATION & REGULATIONS***see new rules Exhibits MUST be checked-in Thursday, September 14th, 3-8 p.m. All exhibits MUST be picked up between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017. 1. General Rules and Regulations apply. 2. All entries must have been preserved within the previous 12 months and can only be entered once. 3. Canned products must be shown in standard pint or quart jars or jelly jars. One jar constitutes an entry. 4. For judging and safety reasons jars must be clear glass with Mason-type labeled on jar or box with a clean metal lid and ring, vacuum sealed and of acceptable size per recipe instructions typically quart, pint or smaller. Jars with rusty bands or without bands will not be accepted. 5. Exhibits must be labeled with the date of food preservation and method of preservation. Method must state whether canned in water bath, pressure canned or other, the process time and the pounds of pressure where appropriate. Entries without required labeling will not be judged. Labels are available at http://faulknercountyfair.net/fcfp or the County Extension Office at 844 Faulkner Street. 6. Jams and Jellies: ¼ inch head space. No paraffin sealed jars will be accepted. 7. Vegetables: 1 inch head space. 8. Pickles: no artificial coloring, ½ inch head space. 9. Fruits: ½ inch head space. 10. Due to safety reasons no canned squash including summer, zucchini or spaghetti, pureed or mashed pumpkin, sweet potatoes, or potatoes will be judged. Pickled summer squash and zucchini are allowed. 11. All entries must be prepared by exhibitor. No store-bought items will be allowed. Points That Will Be Considered in Judging Judging will be done by comparison to recognized standards of quality and safety first and then potentially when met by comparison to other exhibits to determine placing within a class (first, second, third). 1.
