1 Introduction The designation for the Copeland air-conditioning scroll compressors ZR Tandem was changed in January 2004 from ZZ to ZRT. This change comes at the same time as the change of the oil sight glass for the ZR90K* to ZR19M* compressors. The new oil sight glass has an external thread of 1 3/4. Up to the end of December 2003 the ZZ Tandem were built with different connections for the gas equalisation and the oil equalisation lines. The new design of the ZRT (combination of two similar compressors) and ZRU (uneven combination) tandem have got one common oil and gas equalisation line via the oil sight glass. 2 ZZ Tandem - Replacement of one compressor For the replacement of one compressor from a ZZ Tandem, Copeland recommends the following procedure: Replace the faulty tandem version compressor with a suitable single compressor (see the replacement table below). Remove the present gas equalisation and the oil equalisation lines. Use the Copeland adapter kit to install the equalisation lines (see the following pages). Shut-off the connection for the gas equalisation at the remaining compressor with the blanking cap B (over page) or crimp and braze the tube. Shut-off the connection for the oil equalisation at the remaining compressor with the blanking cap C (over page). Assemble the common gas and oil equalisation line: - Remove the oil sight glasses out of both compressors. - Install the adapter D and the o-ring on the oil sight glass connection of the compressors. - Use the teflon gasket to install the common equalisation line E on the Rotalock connection of the adapter D. - The common equalisation line E is available in two different lengths. 3 Replacement Table The following chart shows the replacement of the different BOM- versions ZZ- Tandem BOM Rotalock Compressor BOM Used on ZZ Replacement Compressor BOM Module 870 570 551 120/240 V 871 570 551 120/240 V 840 540 561 24 V AC 841 540 561 24 V AC C.5.5.1/1104/E 3
