FAQs How many miles are the races? The half marathon is 13.1 miles and the full marathon is 26.2 miles. Where can I stay in Madison? Please visit our website, www.madisonmarathon.org under the lodging tab for more information. What charities does the Madison Marathon support? The Madison Marathon s official charities are Badger Honor Flight and myteam Triumph. We also support many other local non-profit groups. Visit the Madison Marathon charity page to learn more about our charity partners. Where should I park? Race Day ing is available in all downtown parking ramps on Sunday. Street parking is also available - meters are not enforced on Sunday. Click here to see parking ramp locations. There is also parking near the course for spectator viewing. ROAD CLOSURES The traffic crossing the course and along the route will be delayed at times. The course will be staffed by Madison Police and volunteers. Please follow their directions for the safety of all. Roads that will be closed temporarily for the start of the race: W. Washington Ave. - Runners clear and road open by approximately 7:30 am St. - Runners clear and road open approximately 7:30 am Broom St. - Runners clear and road open by approximately 7:30 am Bedford St. - Runners clear and road open by approximately 7:30 am Roads with closures or lane restrictions: Sherman Ave. South bound traffic impacted from 7:00 am until approximately 10:30 am Use Packers Ave. Between Northport and Commercial Ave. Monroe St. ing removed and 1 traffic lane closed from Nakoma Road to Regent St. University Ave. - West bound between Breese Terrace and Walnut St. is closed University Ave and Gorham ing is removed and 1 lane is closed Roads that will be open and are recommended travel routes: John Nolen Dr. - Race does not impact E. Emergency Procedures Colored flags will be located at each water station and at the finish line area to alert runners to changing course and weather conditions. In cases of emergency, please follow the instructions below. In rare instances, it may be necessary to either close the race course or re-route participants. If this occurs, it is being done for the safety of the participants and volunteers. ALERT LEVEL EVENT CONDITIONS RECOMMENDED ACTIONS Extreme - Black Flag High - Red Flag Moderate - Yellow Flag Event canceled. Extreme and dangerous conditions or course emergency. Dangerous conditions Less than ideal conditions Extreme conditions: Participation stopped / Seek shelter immediately Course emergency: Follow directions from public safety officials, race staff and volunteers. The race is stopped. Finish times will not be published and no awards are given after a red flag. Runners should go to the nearest water station for shuttle transfer to the finish line. Slow down / drink plenty of water. Low - Green Flag Good conditions Enjoy the event / Be alert There is a medical tent located near the finish line on Mifflin St. There will be ambulances and medical personnel at the start line, finish line and along the course. 7
