President s Letter to Members by Sean Craig, President of LCC I want to thank everyone who bought or sold a raffle ticket in our Spring Raffle. We came up short in our goal to fix the pool wall before the pool could open. We are putting the project on hold for now, and we hope this project can be finished in the next year. I want to thank everyone who helped get the club ready for summer, planting flowers, cleaning the pool area and cleaning up club areas. I want to thank Tim and Robbie for all their hard work I hope everyone gets involved in activities at the pool and on the golf course as we look forward to a great summer! Last year it seemed like people got to know each better due to the Wild Wing Wednesday excitement. Also the pool was busy with lots of families with little kids. The patio area is a great way to enjoy lunch or dinner outside. Please come out and get involved this summer. If you have any questions or suggestions please contact me by email at seanpcraig@yahoo.com or my cell number (309) 531-1109. Sincerely, Sean P. Grounds Committee Report by Doug Brent & Tim Hezlep We hope that everyone has had a chance to get out and play some golf this season. However, the weather has not been cooperating like we all would like. That being said, if you have been able to play a few rounds, you may have noticed a few new things going on the golf course. First, we would like to mention that Hole #8 is now back open to be played as a Par 4. The drainage problem project that the club took on last year is working great. Hopefully you have noticed that even after some big rains, there has been very little standing water on Hole #8 fairway. This has allowed the maintenance crew to allow golf carts to go out, when in the past, we would not be able to do so. We do however still have areas of concern with growing more grass out in Hole #8 s fairway which is why we are asking members to PLEASE KEEP THE GOLF CARTS OFF Hole #8 FAIRWAY. Please stay in the rough or on the cart path while playing Hole #8. Second, the LCC Board over the spring brought in a goose specialist to get some ideas as to how to limit the goose population here at LCC. One of the suggestions that this specialist made was to create a natural barrier between Holiday Pool and LCC. This is the reason for the high grass along McGregor St. The goose specialist said the the geese will not walk through high grass due to the fact there might be a predator waiting for them in it. So the Board made the decision to grow the grass high along McGregor St. as well as having it sprayed with goose deterrent. With this plan of action, we would like to ask everyone please DO NOT DRIVE YOUR GOLF CARTS through the high grass. Golf carts will lay the grass down and defeat the purpose of the goose detraction plan. Feel free to play your ball out of the high grass, but please do not drive your carts through the grass. Finally, you may have also noticed that during the last storm, we lost a tree on Hole #2. The tree has since been removed, along with three other dead Ash trees along Morrissey Dr. We hope to plant new trees to take those trees place in the future. Thank you for your cooperation with these matters! Lakeside is the Best Kept Secret By Bill Donnelly Lakeside Country Club; the best kept secret in Bloomington-Normal time to let folks in on our secret! As the membership chair for LCC, I d like to take a few minutes to address a pressing issue and ask for some assistance. As you may know, a club of any type is as strong as it s members and can be considered healthy only when it s growing. My family and I joined in 2014 and looked to Lakeside to fill the time previously spent doing kid s activities while meeting some new people and working on our golf game. Since then I have discovered this place to be much more than that. It s a place to feel welcome, to get involved, to make new friends, and to connect with old ones. We have shared our experiences with others and our membership tree has grown. I am now challenging you to do the same. Tell our story. Where else can you play golf (without a tee time and at a moments notice), have virtually unlimited access to a pool (without the maintenance), and have access to banquet facilities, a golf pro, and fun for the entire family? Our challenge is to recruit more members! We have an incentive that benefits both the new member and the referring member, however the true incentive is TIME. Time spent doing the activities you enjoy with the people you know. We at Lakeside have much to be excited about in the coming years and if we tell our story and let out our secret we can strengthen our club and make it a better experience for all. Thanks for the time. Bill Donnelly Bill Donnelly Lakeside CC Membership Chairman 2017 Membership Incentives All New 2017 Members will Receive: 10% Discounted Credit For Their Membership! Referring member will receive a 10% credit in year two. Stop by the Office or talk to a Board member for more information! From The Desk of the Manager June 2017 Pool Hours: The Pool will be open from 11am ~ 8pm, seven days a week (weather permitting). Please do not swim when lifeguard is not present unless you have spoken to me and signed a pool waiver. Automatic Gratuities: If you order food or drink and do not close out your ticket, your account will be charged for the amount owed and an automatic 18% gratuity may be added. Please make sure to sign out before you leave. Patio Reservations: Due to limited seating, please call ahead and reserve a table, especially on band nights. Reservations will be first come, first serve. If you do not arrive within 15 minutes of your reservation, your table will be given away to another group. Also, if you see a reserved sign on a table, do not sit at it without talking to me. Payment Updates: With the new online portal, we will no longer be responsible for running cards each month. It is your responsibility to make sure you pay your bill in a timely manner. Please use the online portal, mail in a check, or pay while you are at the club using cash, check, or credit / debit card. Late Payment Reminders: We cannot accept payments for member balances after the month ends without a 2% late fee. Timely payment avoid those late charges. If you need to make payment arrangements, please contact me by the 25th of of the month. Also, any member who is over 60 days past due on their account cannot charge, and their name will be posted on the delinquent list located outside the office. If your account is over 90 days past due, your account will be involuntarily suspended, and will need to pay the full amount due in order to be re-instated as a member of the club. You will not be allowed at the until your balance is paid in full. Fireworks Night: Our busiest week is almost here! If you are a new member and have never been here for the week, it is sure a great experience for you and your family! Our fireworks night brings hundreds of members, families, guests, and friends here for a great show. The fireworks will start at dusk, around 9:15pm. The course needs to be clear by 3:00pm, so the pyrotechnics can set up across the lake. Here are a few tips to help out your club for the night: 1. If you plan to picnic, please make sure to pick up all of your garbage. We will rent an extra trash dumpster for the weekend. It will be located by the Maintenance Shed. Do not leave your garbage on the course! Each year, the maintenance staff, cleaning crew, and club staff spend hours picking up cans and garbage left over by members. This is unacceptable and very disrespectful to YOUR club. Thank you in advance. 2. We are renting three Port-a-Potties. They will be located by the Cart Shed. Please use them at your convenience. 3. The parking lot will be full, please try to carpool the best you can to have more spaces for members. Arrive early to make sure you get a space. 4. If you plan to dine with us, please make your reservation no later than June 29, so we can plan for everyone. 5. Enjoy the show and have great night!
