The central helm station gives perfect 360 visibility from above with all the control lines within easy reach to the helmsman. This allows even a shorthanded crew the ability to maneuver the Lagoon 440. The large bench seat in the helm station is a favorite hang out spot. A stainless framed sunbrella bimini top shades the flybridge. The sailing rig offers plenty of power for a cruising boat so the 440 will sail happily at 8 to 10 knots in a good breeze. Hulls are solid fiberglass below the waterline. Closed-cell foam core is used above the waterline to minimize weight and provide extra stiffness. The deck is cored with balsa, and areas where deck hardware attaches are reinforced with solid glass.
