BOISE STATE BOASTS 7-3 RECORD AGAINST HAWAI I: Boise State enters its game at Hawai i on Oct. 24 boasting a 7-3 record all-time against the Warriors. The Broncos are 7-1 against Hawai i since joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2001, with their only loss to the Warriors in conference play coming at the end of the 2007 season (27-39). Boise State opened its series against Hawai i with a pair of losses, in 1996 (14-20) and 1999 (19-34). The Broncos won six straight against Hawai i from 2001-2006. Boise State also won its last meeting with the Warriors in 2008, 27-7. BOISE STATE IS 3-4 ALL-TIME ON THE ISLAND Although Boise State has a 7-3 advantage against Hawai i in the two schools alltime series, the Broncos have not faired that well when traveling to the island. The Broncos are 3-3 against the Warriors and 0-1 in bowl games when playing in Honolulu, Hawai i. Boise State lost to Hawai i in 1996 (14-20), 1999 (19-34) and 2007 (27-39). The Broncos beat the Warriors in 2001 (28-21), 2003 (45-28) and 2005 (44-41). Boise State s have played only one bowl game in Hawai i, which was the Broncos 38-41 loss to East Carolina in the 2007 Sheraton Hawai i Bowl. BRONCOS HAVE A HISTORY OF CLOSE GAMES AT HAWAI I: Boise State has earned a reputation for big wins in recent years, but that hasn t been the case when playing against Hawai i on the road. In Boise State s three road wins against the Warriors, the Broncos average margin of victory has only been nine points. Boise State s most lopsided win was 17 points (45-28) in 2003. The last time the Broncos beat the Warriors in Hawai i was in a 44-41 nailbiter in 2005. In Boise State s three losses at Hawai i, the Warriors average margin of victory is 11 points, with their biggest win coming in 1999 (34-19). BRONCOS 34-7 ALL-TIME ON NATIONAL TELEVISION: Boise State s all-time record for games on national television is 34-7. The Broncos have six games scheduled to broadcast nationally this year, with three having been played already on Sept. 3 (Thursday) against No. 16 Oregon, Sept. 18 (Friday) against Fresno State, and Sept. 14 (Wednesday) against Tulsa, all of which were on ESPN. BOISE STATE 4-1 ALL-TIME IN WEDNESDAY GAMES: With a 28-21 win at Tulsa on Oct. 14, improved their overall record in games played on a Wednesday to 4-1. Since 2001 the Broncos have played 33 non-saturday games, four of which have been on Wednesday. Boise State is 4-0 all-time in regular season games that were played on Wednesday. Boise State s only Wednesday loss came in the 2005 Humanitarian Bowl on Dec. 28 against Boston College (21-27). (see complete list of non-saturday games on page 13 of release). BOISE STATE TRAILS FOR THE FIRST TIME ALL SEASON: The Broncos found themselves in unfamiliar territory in the first quarter of their 28-21 win at Tulsa, as Boise State trailed for the first time all season. Tulsa struck first against the Broncos with a 53-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. After evening the score at 7-7, Tulsa took the lead again, 14-7, with 00:16 in the first quarter. Prior to the game Boise State had not trailed in any of their five games so far this season. BRONCOS OUTSCORED IN FIRST QUARTER FOR FIRST TIME IN OVER A YEAR: Boise State was outscored by Tulsa in the first quarter of the Broncos last game, 14-7, which marked the first time Boise State trailed going into the second quarter since trailing Oregon 6-0 on Sept. 20, 2008. The last time Boise State allowed a 14 point first quarter was Oct. 26, 2007 at Fresno State. The Broncos were deadlocked 14-14 after the first quarter of that game, and went on to win 34-21. BRONCOS HAVE BACK-TO-BACK GAMES WITH SCORELESS FIRST QUARTERS: The Boise State offense broke out of its first quarter scoring slump against Tulsa, after the Broncos did not score inthe first half against Bowling Green or UC Davis. The last time Boise State had consecutive scoreless first quarters was at the end of the 2005 season in the season finale against Louisiana Tech (W, 30-13) and in the MPC Bowl against Boston College (L, 21-27). In fact, the Falcons held the Boise State scoreless during the first quarter for the first time since 2007 when the Broncos were shutout in the first quarter of play on Nov. 3 against San Jose State, before Boise State went on to win the game, 42-7. BOISE STATE BECOMES JUST THE SECOND FBS TEAM WITH 100 WINS: Boise State s 48-0 win against Miami (OH) put the Broncos in select company, becoming just the second NCAA Division I FBS team to earn 100 wins since 2000. With their 34-16 win against UC Davis, Boise State now has 104 wins since 2000. The Broncos joined the University of Oklahoma (105 games) and Texas (103 games) with the most wins since the turn of the century. BRONCO OFFENSE SHARES THE WEALTH: In three of the Broncos five games this year, Boise State has had five or more different players record a touchdown. Boise State held a streak of three consecutive games, which began against Miami (OH) when five different Broncos scored a TD, followed up by five players combining for six TDs at Fresno State, and the most recent was a season-high six Broncos tallying for seven TDs at Bowling Green. The last time Boise State had six or more players record a TD in a single game was in 2008 against Fresno State when seven Broncos combined for eight touchdowns. Last season, Boise State had five or more players record a TD in a single game five different times. BOISE STATE RANKS IN TOP-10 NATIONALLY IN FIVE CATEGORIES: Boise State has used a balanced offensive, defensive and special teams attack to improve to 6-0 this season, which is showing in its national statistical rankings. The Broncos currently rank in the top-10 nationally in five different statistical categories. Offensively, Boise State is tied for fourth in sacks allowed (three), third in pass efficiency (164.69) and seventh in scoring offense (38.17 ppg). On defense, the Broncos are fifth in first downs allowed (13.3 per game). On special teams Boise State is seventh in net punting (40.63 yards per punt). BOISE STATE DEFENSE PICKS OFF OPPONENTS: Boise State has now recorded nine interceptions already this season, following two interceptions in the Broncos win at Bowling Green. Junior safety Jeron Johnson recorded his second interception of the season, while cornerback Brandyn Thompson joined the ranks as he recorded his first of the season on a 14-yard pick. Sophomore linebacker Aaron Tevis and Johnson lead the team with two interceptions a piece, while junior linebacker Derrell Acrey, sophomore safety George Iloka, freshman linebacker Tommy Smith and junior safety Winston Venable have each recorded an interception this season. MARTIN RECORDS CAREER DAY AT BOWLING GREEN: After spending most of the season on defense, Doug Martin returned to the offensive side of the ball for Boise State s matchup against Bowling Green. Martin had a career day after carrying the ball 13 times for 116 yards, including a 34-yard long which resulted in a touchdown, and averaged 8.9 yards per carry. 13

WINTERSWYK SACKING THE COMPETITION: Boise State defensive end Ryan Winterswyk has been tormenting opposing quarterbacks as of late, recording at least half of a sack in four consecutive games. Winterswyk leads the Broncos with five sacks and eight tackles for loss this season. The junior ranks 27th nationally in sacks per game and 30 th in tackles for loss. With two sacks at Tulsa, Winterswyk tied Bronco defensive line coach Pete Kwiatkowski and former Bronco linebacker Colt Brooks for 9th in the Boise State record books for most career sacks (15). With another 0.5 sacks, Winterswyk will tie his career-high of 5.5 sacks in a season. He only needs 1.5 more sacks to move up to 8th in the record books and tie former teammate Mike T. Williams. RUN AVERY RUN: Boise State junior running back Jeremy Avery has proven to be a speedster for the Broncos as he has recorded a 70+ yard run in two different games this season. In Boise State s game at Bowling Green, Avery opened the second half of play with an incredible 71-yard run touchdown. This would have been the second 70+ yard TD for the junior, but upon crossing the goal line on a 74-yard run Avery fumbled the ball which was recovered by teammate wide receiver in the end zone. The last player to record two 70+ yard runs in a single season was David Mikell during the 2003 season with a 78-yard TD against Idaho and a 75- yard TD against TCU. VENABLE RETURNS INTERCEPTION FOR TOUCHDOWN: Junior Winston Venable had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown at Fresno State, marking the first time the Broncos have returned a pick for a TD since Marty Tadman returned a 27-yard interception against No. 10 Oklahoma during the infamous 2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. AVERY AND HARPER HIT CENTURY MARK FOR SECOND TIME: Boise State had two players rush for over 100-yards in the Fresno State game as Jeremy Avery gained 186 yards and DJ Harper 107. Avery and Harper were the last two players to both go over the century mark in a game when two years ago, also against Fresno State (Oct. 26, 2007), Harper gained 153 yards and Avery 124. AVERY SETS SINGLE GAME RECORD: Boise State junior running back Jeremy Avery led the Broncos in their conference opener at Fresno State recording a career-high 269 all-purpose yards. In addition, he had 186 yards rushing to average 16.9 YPC (11-186), setting a single-game school record. Avery owned the previous single-game record after averaging 14.2 YPC (11-156) last season against Idaho. BRONCOS STAY PERFECT IN WAC CONFERENCE OPENERS: Since joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2001, Boise State has yet to lose a conference opening game. After a big 51-34 win at Fresno State on Sept. 18, the Broncos improved their all-time WAC opener record to 9-0. SHUTTING OUT THE COMPETITION: Boise State s 48-0 shutout against Mid-American Conference opponent Miami (OH) marked the first home shutout for the Broncos since Oct. 7, 2007, when Boise State shut out New Mexico State, 58-0. The win also marked the first time in Boise State history that the Broncos shutout a nonconference Division I FBS (formerly I-A) opponent. The last nonconference opponent the Broncos shutout at home was Aug. 31, 2006 against Sacramento State (45-0). BRONCOS RANKED FOR EIGHTH STRAIGHT SEASON: Boise State entered the 2009 season ranked in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls, earning its highest preseason ranking ever. The Broncos were ranked No. 14 in the AP, and No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches polls. Boise State has been fifth the past few weeks in the Associated Press or USA Today Coaches polls, depending the week and ranking, but never as high as fourth. In the three polls that are used for the BCS rankings all have Boise State at No. 5. The Broncos are fifth in the coaches poll, the Harris Interactive poll and the computer rankings, which averages six different computer rankings. Prior to today s announcement, the highest Boise State had ever been ranked in the BCS was seventh late in the 2004 season. The Broncos were ranked eighth in the final 2006 regular season BCS poll, which gained Boise State a berth into the 2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma. In the coaches poll this week, Boise State moved up one position to fifth following its 28-21 win at Tulsa last Wednesday (Oct. 14). The Broncos fell one spot from fifth to sixth in the AP poll. 14

After guiding the 2008 Broncos to a 12-1 overall record, a league championship and an appearance in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, Petersen was named the Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year by a vote of his peers in early December. In addition, it was announced in December that Petersen had been named a 2008 finalist for the Paul Bear Bryant Coach of the Year honor. Petersen is one of eight head coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly I-A) who were finalists for the award, which is considered college football s top coaching honor. Petersen was named the 2006 winner of the Bryant award after leading the Broncos to an undefeated season of 13-0 and their now-famous 43-42 overtime victory over the University of Oklahoma in the 2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. In addition to the Bryant Award, Petersen was also named a finalist for the Liberty Mutual and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year awards in 2008. Petersen, who has a career record of 41-4 for a.911 winning percentage, guided last year s Boise State team to its third undefeated regular season in five years, its sixth WAC championship in seven seasons, and finished the season with a No. 11 ranking by the Associated Press. The Broncos also fell just two points short of completing their second undefeated season in three years, with a 16-17 loss to No. 11 TCU in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. In his three seasons at Boise State, Coach Pete has clearly established himself as one of the top young football coaches in the country, leading the Broncos to a bowl game and a consistent presence in the national rankings each of those years. Under Petersen, Boise State has compiled an impressive 23-1 record in the WAC with a league championship in 2006 and 2008 and a runner-up finish in 07. Considered one of the most innovative offensive minds in the college coaching ranks, Petersen has guided an offense that continues to be among the nation s best. At the end of the 2008 regular season, Boise State ranked 11th in passing efficiency, tied for 12th in scoring offense (37.62 points per game), 13th in passing offense (288.54 yards per game) and 18th in total offense (440.85 ypg) among the nation s 119 Football Bowl Subdivision teams. The 08 Bronco defense fared even better in the national 1992 Pittsburgh Quarterbacks r a n k i n g s. Boise State 1987-91 UC Davis was ranked 1989-91 Receivers second in 1987-88 Head Freshman Coach pass defense e f f i c i e n c y, Bowl Experience third in 1995 Cotton Bowl s c o r i n g 1997 Las Vegas Bowl d e f e n s e 1998 Aloha Bowl (12.62 points 1999 Sun Bowl per game), 2000 Holiday Bowl 20th in total 2002 Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl d e f e n s e 2003 PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl ( 3 0 8. 1 5 2004 AutoZone Liberty Bowl yards per 2005 MPC Computers Bowl game), 22nd 2006 (2007) Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in rushing 2007 Sheraton Hawai i Bowl d e f e n s e 2008 San Diego County Credit Union (118.00 yards Poinsettia Bowl per game) and 34th in pass defense (190.15 ypg). The unbeaten Broncos finished their 08 regular season ranked ninth in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, the USA Today coaches poll and the Bowl Championship Series rankings. Boise State s No. 5 ranking at the end of the 2006 season was the highest in school history. As the ninth head coach in the 40-year history of Boise State s football participation at the four-year level, Petersen led the 06 Broncos to their first undefeated season since 1958 (when the school was still a junior college), their first-ever BCS bowl berth, and their fifth straight WAC title. Honors and national rankings are nothing new to Petersen. In the history of college football, only one coach since 1900 won 13 games in his first season at the helm of an FBS team. That coach was Petersen in 2006. In addition to winning the Bryant award that year, Petersen was a finalist for the 06 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award, a semifinalist for the George Munger Coach of the Year award, and was named the Region 4 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association. As Boise State s offensive coordinator from 2001-2005, he was twice (2002 and 2004) a finalist for the Broyles Award, which honors the nation s top assistant football coach. During Petersen s stint as offensive coordinator, Boise 22 1993-94 Portland State Quarterbacks

State featured one of the most potent offenses in the country, averaging 41.3 points per game while also finishing as the nation s top scoring team twice (2002 and 2003). The Broncos also finished second (2004), eighth (2005) and 18th (2001) in the nation in scoring while Petersen was running the Broncos offense. During Petersen s five seasons as offensive coordinator, BSU finished in the top 15 in total offense four times, including three top10 finishes first in 2002, fourth in 2004, and seventh in 2003. The Broncos also had four top 20 finishes in passing during that time, including a high ranking of fifth in 2003. BSU also ranked in the top 25 in the country in rushing in three of the last four seasons that Petersen coached the offense, including 14th in 2004 and 15th in 2005. Several players have excelled individually under Petersen in his three years as head coach; the most recent example is freshman quarterback Kellen Moore in 2008. Moore, who was named 2008 WAC Freshman of the Year, finished the season ranked 12th in the nation in passing efficiency and 24th in total offense. In the WAC he was second in passing (268.20 yards per game) and total offense (265.85 ypg). In Petersen s three years as head coach, 17 of his players were named first-team All-WAC and 15 others were selected second-team all-conference. In 2008 the Broncos placed lineman Andrew Woodruff and wide receiver Jeremy Childs on WAC first-team offense and defensive end Ryan Winterswyk, cornerback Kyle Wilson and safety/linebacker Ellis Powers on the first-team defense. Players who earned second-team recognition were Moore, wide receiver Austin Pettis, running back Ian Johnson, defensive end Mike T. Williams, safety Jeron Johnson and Wilson (as a punt returner). In 2008 Boise State tied for the highest-scoring offense in the WAC, averaging 37.6 points per game. The Broncos were also second in the league in passing (288.5 yards per game) and total offense (440.80 ypg). On defense the Broncos led the league in several categories: fewest points allowed per game (12.6), fewest yards allowed per game (308.2), best pass defense efficiency and lowest opponents fourth-down conversion rate (27.8 percent). The Broncos also led the WAC in punting (39.6 net yards per kick). Given Petersen s ability to develop quarterbacks, the future bodes well for Moore. As BSU s offensive coordinator and then as its head coach, Coach Pete was instrumental in the development of quarterbacks Ryan Dinwiddie and Jared Zabransky, who are among the most successful collegiate signal callers in recent years. Dinwiddie, who guided the Bronco offense from 2001-03, finished as the NCAA career passing efficiency leader with a rating of 168.19. Dinwiddie had a career-best 188.18 rating in 2002 that would have set an NCAA single-season record if he played in one more game. (He missed four complete games and parts of two other contests because of a leg injury.) He also had a 164.69 rating in 2001 and a 163.72 rating in 2003, both good enough for fourth in the country. With Petersen as his quarterback coach, as well as the team s offensive coordinator, Dinwiddie led the Broncos to a 28-6 record as a starter. After Dinwiddie left, Petersen helped groom Zabransky into one of the nation s most successful quarterbacks from 2004-06. Zabransky led Boise State to three straight league titles, two undefeated regular seasons, and a 32-5 record in his three years as a starter, including a 23-1 record in WAC games. Offensive tackle Ryan Clady also excelled under Petersen. A consensus All-American in 2007, Clady decided to skip his senior year of college and make himself eligible for the 2008 NFL draft. In April he became the first Bronco ever selected in the first round, going to Denver as the 12th overall selection. In 2006, Petersen s first season as head coach, Clady earned second-team All-America recognition from SI.com while Ian Johnson (first-team SI.com and CBS Sportline; second-team Sporting News; and third-team Associated Press) and linebacker Korey Hall (second-team Sporting News) also earned All-America honors that year. In his five seasons as offensive coordinator, Petersen had two players earn All-America honors running back Brock Forsey in 2002 and offensive tackle Daryn Colledge in 2004. He also helped 12 Broncos earn first-team All-WAC honors, while two (Dinwiddie in 2003 and Forsey in 2002) were named WAC Offensive Player of the Year. Petersen came to Boise State as Dan Hawkins offensive coordinator following the 2000 season from the University of Oregon, where he was the wide receivers coach. He joined the Oregon staff in 1995 and immediately helped contribute to a passing attack that ranked among the nation s elite each of the six seasons he was an assistant. Twice during Petersen s tenure at Oregon, the Duck offense broke the school record for single-season passing yards, and three times in the same time period the team broke the single-season school record for most touchdowns. Prior to working at Oregon, Petersen served as the quarterbacks coach at Portland State from 1993-1994, helping the Vikings advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs both seasons. In 1992 Petersen was the quarterbacks coach at the University of Pittsburgh. That season the Panthers established a school record for passing yards and ranked eighth nationally in total offense and passing. In addition, he contributed to the development of first-team All-Big East Conference quarterback Alex Van Pelt, who eclipsed the school s passing yardage totals previously held by Dan Marino. Petersen s success as a coach can be linked to his record-setting career as a quarterback at the University of California, Davis. As a senior with the Aggies, he was named the Northern California Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was the top-rated Division II quarterback in the nation. Petersen received second-team Kodak Division II All-America honors and still holds the Division II record for career pass completions at 69.6 percent. Petersen was inducted into the UC Davis Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993. After receiving his bachelor s degree in psychology from UC Davis in 1988, Petersen started his coaching career at his alma mater, serving as UC Davis head freshman coach in 1987-88 and the receivers coach from 1989-91. Petersen holds a master s degree in educational psychology from UC Davis. He and his wife, Barbara, are the parents of two sons, Jack (13) and Sam (10). 23

Last Week for the Broncos... No. 5/6 Boise State 28, Tulsa 21 October 14, 2009 - H.A. Champman Stadium - Tulsa, Okla. TULSA, Okla. (AP) -Kellen Moore threw two short touchdown passes to Tommy Gallarda, and No. 5 Boise State survived a late scare from Tulsa to escape with a 28-21 victory Wednesday night in one of the last road tests standing between the undefeated Broncos and the BCS. With Boise State (6-0) trailing for the first time all season, Moore was perfect on two scoring drives to put the Broncos ahead to stay. Tulsa (4-2) got within 28-21 in the fourth quarter when G.J. Kinne and Slick Shelley connected on consecutive passes for 91 yards, including a 55-yarder for a touchdown. The Golden Hurricane had one last chance to tie it in the final 2 minutes, but Boise State forced its fourth three-and-out of the second half to ice the game. Moore finished with 187 yards passing and three touchdown passes. Doug Martin had 112 yards on 23 carries in his second 100-yard game since moving back to offense after the Broncos lost running back D.J. Harper to a knee injury. Jeremy Avery added 73 yards as Boise State trampled Tulsa on the ground in the third quarter and then held on for the win. Except for the two long connections between Kinne and Shelley, Boise State s defense limited the Golden Hurricane - who led the nation in total offense each of the last two seasons - to 30 yards in the second half. Kinne missed a wide-open Charles Clay on fourth-and-6 to end Tulsa s last possession, as he rolled out of the pocket to the left. He finished with 154 yards on 14-for-27 passing. ``Our O-line got going pretty well and it would have been nice to punch it in down there for some breathing room, Boise State coach Chris Petersen said. ``If our O-line is doing what they need to do we can make some plays. Tulsa represented one of the few challenges remaining on Boise State s schedule as the Broncos move into Western Athletic Conference play. The rest of the teams on their schedule have a combined 16-21 record, and in-state rival Idaho (5-1) is the only one with a winning mark. Petersen wouldn t look far down the schedule. ``Next week is a new challenge, he said. ``We ll reload and go then. The Golden Hurricane - playing in front of a sellout crowd of 30,000 - jumped on top early, capitalizing on a muffed punt by cornerback Kyle Wilson with some trickery on the very next play. Kinne pitched the ball to A.J. Whitmore, the Golden Hurricane s usual wildcat quarterback, and he found speedy receiver Damaris Johnson behind the defense for a 53-yard touchdown pass. It was the first time Boise State had trailed this season, and Moore immediately led a 68-yard scoring drive the opposite way. He hit all three of his passes for 45 yards and converted a fourth-and-1 at the 10-yard line with a sneak to set up his 8-yard scoring toss to Gallarda. He went 6 for 6 for 62 yards on the Broncos next drive, answering Kinne s 15-yard scoring pass to Trae Johnson with a 17-yard TD connection to Austin Pettis. It was Pettis sixth straight game with a touchdown. Gallarda caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Moore in the third quarter. Boise State had 367 total yards, 111 on the ground by its corps of three tailbacks. Last Time Against the Warriors... Boise State 27, Hawai i 7 October 17, 2008 - Bronco Stadium - Boise, Idaho BOISE, Idaho (AP) -Kellen Moore threw three touchdown passes and cornerback Brandyn Thompson had three interceptions to lead No. 15 Boise State to a 27-7 victory over Hawai i. The Broncos (6-0, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference) intercepted Hawaii s Inoke Funaki five times, turning three of them into 17 second-half points that put the game away. The Broncos smothering defense pressured Funaki all night, sacking him five times and holding the Warriors (3-4, 2-2) to just 288 total yards. Moore finished 25-of-34 for 256 yards. The left-hander s three touchdown passes gave him 16 on the season and 11 over the last four games. The victory was Boise State s 17th straight at home and avenged a bitter loss to the Warriors last year that cost them the WAC title. The Broncos took control in the third quarter when Thompson and safety Jeron Johnson intercepted Funaki on Hawaii s first two possessions, both times returning the ball into Boise State territory. The turnovers shifted momentum in a game that the Broncos led 10-7 at halftime and was statistically even. On Hawaii s opening possession in the third quarter, Thompson stepped in front of an errant throw by Funaki and returned it to the Warriors 46-yard line. The Broncos scored six plays later when Moore tossed a 12-yard pass to Julian Hawkins to make it 17-7. After the kickoff, Funaki, under pressure, overthrew his target and the pass was picked off by Johnson, who returned it to the Warriors 41. Moore, a redshirt freshman, wasted little time making the Warriors pay when he capped a six-play drive by throwing a 16-yard pass to Austin Pettis that put Boise State ahead 24-7. Early in the fourth quarter, Thompson again picked off Funaki at the Warriors 31. The Broncos offense sputtered, but Kyle Brotzman kicked a 43- yard field goal. Hawaii, which has never won in Boise, scored in the second quarter after Boise State tight end Kyle Efaw coughed up the ball at the Warriors 46. Five plays later, Daniel Libre scored on a 3-yard run to make it 10-7. To derive the three percentages, each team is assigned an inverse point total (25 for No. 1, 24 for No. 2, etc.) The two poll percentages are calculated by dividing each team s point total by a maximum 2850 possible points (Harris) and 1475 possible points (USA Today). The computer rankings percentage is calculated by dropping the highest and lowest ranking for each team and then dividing the remaining total by 100 (the maximum possible points). The BCS Average is calculated by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive Poll, USA Today Poll, and computer rankings. The teams BCS Averages are ranked to produce the BCS Standings. The six computer ranking providers are Anderson & Hester, Richard Billingsley, Colley Matrix, Kenneth Massey, Jeff Sagarin and Peter Wolfe. Each computer ranking provider accounts for schedule strength within its formula. The BCS is a five-game arrangement for post-season college football that is managed by the 11 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) conferences and institutions. Its purpose is to match the top two teams a bowl game and to create exciting matchups in four other games. The No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the Dec. 6 BCS standings will play in the Citi BCS National Championship on Jan. 7, 2010 in Pasadena, Calif. The winner of the game will be presented the Coaches Trophy, emblematic of the national championship. For more information, visit www.bcsfootball.org. WWW.BCSFOOTBALL.ORG
