Supplementary Rules and Regulations for AMA- Sanctioned Drag Racing These supplementary rules / regulations are specific to an AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) sanctioned sportsman drag race meet. The current published AMA Racing rulebook is also in force at an AMA sanctioned drag race meet covered by these supplementary rules. All general rules and all AMA policies contained in the AMA rulebook that would apply to the conduct of a motorcycle drag race meet will be followed and enforced in addition to these supplemental rules. If any conflict between these supplementary rules and the current AMA rulebook is found or perceived the rules as stated in the current published AMA Racing rulebook will prevail. Motorcycle drag race meets are included in chapter three (3) of the current (2016) AMA Racing rulebook and come under the direction of the track racing manager of the AMA amateur racing department. These supplementary rules are submitted for approval as stated in section 3.3 J, page 141 of the current (2016) AMA Racing rulebook. Supplementary General Regulations General rules of the meet: As printed in the current edition of the AMA Racing rulebook, Section 3.3, Page 130 as applicable to a drag race meet along with the following supplementary regulations. Riders: Supplementary General Regulations: 1. All riders entered in an AMA sanctioned drag race meet covered by these supplementary rules must be a full member of the AMA or have an AMA issued one event pass. AMA associate members cannot participate in AMA sanctioned competition. 2. Riders competing in ¼ mile classes covered by these supplementary rules must be 16 years old as of the date of the event. 3. Riders competing in ¼ mile classes covered by these supplementary rule must have a valid driver s license with a motorcycle endorsement. 4. Riders competing in 1/8 mile exhibition dirt bike classes covered by these supplementary rules must be 14 years old. Minors and riders under the legal age of majority in the state in which the meet takes place must comply with the 2016 AMA Racing Rulebook Section 3.1, pages 116 and 117 regarding parental/legal guardian consent to participate in the competition. 5. All riders in AMA sanctioned drag races covered by these supplementary rules must wear a full face properly fitted helmet that meets the following recognized standards and have a label affixed certifying its approval: USA: Snell M2010 or DOT FMVSS 218 Europe: ECE 22-05 P, NP or J Japan: JIS T 8133: 2007 1

Riders in drag race competition must wear long pants (i.e. jeans or other durable material such as leather), a leather jacket, leather gloves that cover the wrist, boots at least eight (8) inches high with any combination of laces, buckles or zippers, or specially designed and constructed for leg and foot protection. 7. Riders competing on motorcycles that exceed a 10:00 second elapsed time and/or 120 mph must wear full leathers. Either a one piece suit or a jacket and pants that zip together at the waist. General Equipment Regulations 1. Meets covered by these supplementary rules are designed to encourage and grow grassroots competition. In that spirit the use of two (2) steps, delay boxes, electronic throttle stops and electronic launch devices are prohibited. Delay boxes and throttle stops etc., must be disconnected and removed. 2. All motorcycles competing under these rules must be equipped with a hand operated clutch either cable or hydraulic capable of stalling the engine when released at idle with the front brake applied. Slider clutches and lock up clutches are prohibited. 3. All motorcycles in ¼ mile competition must have a chain guard. 4. Air, electric over air and electric shifters are permitted in all ¼ mile classes. Shift lights are permitted 5. All liquid cooled motorcycles may only use water or AMA approved glycol free replacement as coolant. 6. Motorcycles equipped with pressurized bottles for nitrous or air shifters must have the bottles securely mounted. No hose clamps or tie wraps. Bottles must meet and be marked/engraved as DOT- 1800 pound minimum. Swing arms may be pressurized. All bottles must be securely mounted within the frame. 7. All motorcycles entered in AMA sanctioned drag race competition covered by these supplementary rules must have a minimum two (2) inch ground clearance with the rider in full gear sitting on the bike. 8. All motorcycles entered in AMA sanctioned drag race competition covered by the supplementary rules must use only commercially available gasoline, sold as street legal fuel such as VP or Sunoco and other such suppliers or gasoline sold at commercial stations open to the general public is acceptable. No additives may be added except fuel stabilizer to preserve the freshness of the fuel. All fuel must be carried and stored in approved containers. 9. All motorcycles must have a 10x12 number plate securely mounted and visible with the rider mounted on both sides of the motorcycle. For the purpose of displaying class, entry number and dial in where applicable. 10. All motorcycles in competition covered by these supplementary rules must be self- starting with either a kick starter, self- contained electric starter or in the case of non- street legal modified drag bikes a remote electric starter. Push starts (AKA bump starts) and roller starts are prohibited. 11. All motorcycles in competition covered by these supplementary rules must have a securely mounted vented catch can mounted with all overflows routed to the can to prevent oil, coolant or other fluids from the racing surface. Additionally, all motorcycles with power adders or with 2
crankcase breathers not routed to the air box must route their crankcase breathers to a securely mounted catch can. 12. All motorcycles in the ¼ mile classes must have a positive ignition cut off switch attached to the rider with a lanyard. No part of the kill lanyard may be constructed of solid plastic. The switch must be mounted on the low voltage side of the ignition circuit. The switch must disable all fuel pumps and nitrous systems on any motorcycle so equipped. All motorcycles must be equipped with a rider operated switch that will allow them to kill the ignition without removing their hand from the handle bars. 13. All motorcycles competing must prominently display a minimum 4x1-1/2 AMA decal on each side. Stickers will be made available at sign up and/or tech. ¼ Mile Classes: Classes Run At Meets Covered by These Supplementary Rules: 1. Super Comp/ Krazee 8 s : - 8.88 index Heads Up -.400 Pro Tree Class Designation SC/K8 2. Street fighter: 9:50 Heads Up -.400 Pro Tree Class Designation SF 3. 600 Super sport: stock/stock modified/street legal 600 cc MAX displacement sport bike. Heads- up: 400 Pro Tree Class Designation: SS/A 4. Open Super Sport: same as SS/A 601- open displacement sport bikes. Heads up -.400 Pro Tree Class Designation: SS/O 5. Drag Bike E/T Bracket: Open to any motorcycle modified for drag racing:.500 Sportsman Tree Handicap Format Rider sets dial in max dial in 12.99 6. Street Bike E/T Bracket: Open to street legal road registered motorcycles:.500 Sportsman Tree Handicap Format Rider sets dial in max dial in 18.99 Cash awards for these classes will be based on entry fees (TBA) with a guaranteed 75% minimum payback. 1/8 Mile Exhibition classes: These classes are exhibition only. Trophies will be awarded to the top eliminator and runner up in each class and second runner up awards will be given to the two (2) riders eliminated in the semi- finals of each class. Note: In the Vintage Pushrod Twins Class in addition to trophies there will be a $100.00 award to the top eliminator and $50.00 to the runner up. 3
Classes: 1. 0 to 250 cc Dirt Bike -.500 Sportsman Tree Heads up all run field 2. 251 open Dirt Bike -.500 Sportsman Tree Heads up all run field 3. Vintage Pushrod Twins: Pre 1980 Triumph, BSA, Norton, Iron Head Sportster and Pre- Blockhead (Shovel- head and earlier) Harley Davidsons, Airhead BMW s and similar four stroke twins of the era. Flathead engine bikes may enter this class..500 Sportsman tree Heads up all run field. Specific Class Rules: In addition to the general equipment regulations, each class has specific regulations as follows: Class and Format: Super Comp KRAZEE 8 s : This class is run heads up started by a.400 Pro Tree. It is 8.88 index. Initially it will be an all run field. Pairings will be random until the competition is down to a sixteen (16) rider field at which time competitors will be placed in a sportsman ladder via a card draw or similar random chance method. Class designation SC/K8 Bye runs determined by reaction time. Riders are allowed only one entry in this class. General Lights: All motorcycles entered in this class must have front and rear working lights with a functioning brake light. Brakes: motorcycles must have functioning front and rear brakes Tires: Motorcycles must be equipped with DOT tires. Tires must have visible tread DOT slicks prohibited. Wheelie Bars: Prohibited Class and Format: Street Fighter: This class is run heads up started by a.400 Pro Tree on a 9:50 index. This class would normally run up to a 64 bike qualified field but for the sake of the initial event to re- establish AMA sanctioned drag racing this class will be an all run field. Pairings will be random until down to a sixteen (16) bike field at which time riders will be placed in a sportsman ladder via a card draw or similar random chance method. If any by runs are required they will be determined by reaction times. Class Designation: SF General: Riders may have only one entry in this class Equipment, Lights, Brakes etc. Motorcycles in this class are required to be street legal and registered for road use. Brakes, lights etc., must be stock or equivalent aftermarket. Tires: Only DOT tires are permitted and must have visible tread. NO DOT SLICKS. Wheelie Bars: Prohibited Class: Super sport Classes:.400 Pro Tree Heads up - run in two (2) separate displacement classes 600 cc and 601 open. Open to street bikes, road racers and track day bikes. 4
Designation: 600 designation: SS/A 601 open designation: SS/O Format: This class is for sport bikes manufactured for the general public. The two (2) classes will be run heads up on a.400 Tree. All run field. General: Riders may enter only one (1) bike in this class. Equipment: Motorcycles must be as sold with all original equipment retained. Engine head, cylinders and cases must be as sold as original equipment. Frame and wheelbase must be stock. Brakes: Brakes must be stock or as stock. Wheels must be same size and widths as stock. Induction must remain as stock. Bikes that were sold originally with carburetors may use any commercially available carburetors. Bikes with fuel injection can re- map as desired. Any exhaust that is sold commercially is permitted. Tires: DOT tires only must have tread no DOT slicks. Bodywork must be stock or stock replacement. Power adds prohibited. Wheelie Bars: Wheelie bars Prohibited. Class: Drag Bike E/T Bracket Format:.500 Sportsman Tree handicap start on riders dial in. Designation: ET/DB max allowed dial in 12.99. This class is open to any motorcycle that is not street legal modified for drag racing. This class is pretty much anything goes. You run what you brung provided the motorcycle complies with the general rules for equipment and safety in these supplementary rules. This is an all run field necessary bye runs will be handled by card draw in the first round and will be determined by reaction time in subsequent rounds. Pairings will be random. Riders will alternate lanes from round to round. Tires: Any tires may be used in this class. Wheelie Bars: Permitted Class : Street bike E/T bracket Designation ET/MC.500 Handicap Tree Handicap start on riders dial in. Max allowed dial in is 18.99. This is an all run field the program format will be run same as the ET/DB class. Equipment: This class is for street legal, registered motorcycles that are or could be ridden to the track. Tires: DOT street legal tires only Wheelie Bars: Prohibited No Power Adds. 5
1/8 Mile Exhibition Classes Class: 0-250cc Dirt Bike Designation: DB/A. Format:.500 Sportsman Tree heads up all run field. 1/8 mile distance. Pairings will be selected at random first round bye (if necessary) will be determined by card draw and any subsequent bye runs will be determined by reaction time. Class: 251 open Dirt Bike: Designation: DB/O. Format: Same as DB/A Equipment standards for these classes are as printed in the AMA Racing 2016 Rule Book Equipment: Standards for the bikes dedicated discipline will apply i.e., motocross bikes must comply with the standards in the MX section. Dedicated track racing dirt bikes must comply with track racing standards and dedicated off road bikes must comply with off road standards as printed in the AMA Rulebook. Rider Protective Gear: For drag racing competition, dirt bike class competitors must wear a leather jacket and leather gloves instead of traditional dirt jersey/protector/and synthetic material gloves. Class: Vintage Pushrod Twins. Format:.500 Sportsman Tree Heads Up 1/8 mile distance Designation: VT This class is for vintage Triumph, BSA, Norton, Harley Davidson Sportsters and Big Twins, BMW Airhead Pushrod Twins, and other pushrod twins of the era of production prior to model year 1980, and like design. Flathead engines up to 80 cubic inch displacement may also enter this class. Engine: Stock heads, cylinders, and cases only. Engines displacing less than 750 cc (45 cubic inches) may bore to increase displacement to 750 cc (45 c.i.d) all others must retain stock bore. All engines must retain stock stroke. Any commercially available carburetor may be used mounted to the stock inlet in a workmanlike manner. Any exhaust may be used. No power adds. Frame: Stock or stock modified Wheels: Wheels must be the same size and width as stock. Tires: DOT tires or period slicks (rear only) that fit stock wheel rims and swing arm. Brakes: Front and rear brakes required stock or better than stock. 6
