The APS Ski Championships will take place as follows: APS Qualifying Race and Team Selection at: Passo de Tonale, Tues. 8 th March APS Fun Slalom and Team Selection Wed. 9 th March APS Ski Championships and Plate Finals at: Passo de Tonale, Thurs. 10 th March THE COMPETTON This will comprise Age Groups which are: A U9s (U9 only) B U11s (U9-U11 inclusive) C U13s (U9-U13 inclusive) Teams must be made up of pupils from the same school. The races are for School Teams, which consist of a maximum of FOUR skiers and a minimum of THREE. Skiers must be genuine full time pupils on the roll during the Spring Term of the school they are representing. Schools may enter up to TWO teams in each age group. Mixed teams of four MUST comprise at least one other gender whose time will be counted. f mixed teams have 2 boys and 2 girls the fastest 3 times will be counted. Only ONE Mixed team per school is permitted. The team must compete in the age group of the oldest skier in the team on the day of the Qualifier. No skier may have their times counted more than once and may only race for one team. The Qualifying Race will consist of only one run over a modified giant slalom course. The team score will be the aggregate of the best three times per team. f less than three team members complete a run, the team will be allocated a competition place at the discretion of the committee. 1
Ski Helmets must be worn. Responsibility for getting skiers to the start area is the responsibility of each individual school and good provision needs to be made for this. t is assumed that all APS member schools have a Safeguarding Policy. Each school group attending the races must be in the charge of a designated adult, preferably a member of the school staff. f teams are in the charge of a nominated parent the Head must sign a declaration that the school has complied with normal checking procedures. A generic risk assessment is available for site awareness and travel issues that are common to most schools. A management plan for the hotel is available on request by emailing Hotel Mirella. THE CHAMPONSHP FNALS The Championship Race (Advanced) and Plate Race (ntermediate) will consist of two runs over a modified giant slalom course. The team score will be the aggregate of the best three times for each run. t is expected that teams that qualify for the Finals will take part, unless they have previously stated that they only wish to race in the Qualifying Race. Requests for team changes between The Qualifying Race and The Finals must be submitted in writing to the Race Secretary by 2:00p.m. on Wednesday 9 th March 2016. Any change after that which would alter the category of the team would NOT be permitted. FUN SLALOM For schools who wish to enter, there will be a Fun Race held on Wednesday 9 th March. The Ski School will organise this event. One girl and one boy, selected by their school, will participate in this race which will be organised as a knockout, round-robin competition. BB SELECTON There will be a bib selection for the Championship Race and then another draw following this for the Plate Race. A qualifying time is agreed after the Tuesday Qualifier to assist coaches in determining their team composition: which skiers will race as either Championship or Plate contenders. The submission of names for teams, for either Championship or Plate category races needs to be made by Wednesday lunch time and handed to MO D at that time. The Championship bibs will be drawn first. Team coaches are able to nominate a skier to be drawn in the first and then subsequent draws. So, if there are 5 2
schools in Championship category, then the first draw will have 5 names in it for the first 5 bibs. Schools will then nominate their next skier for the second draw of 5 names. Coaches are encouraged to attend the bib selection which will take place at 6:00p.m. on Wednesday evening in the Hotel Dolomiti. APS regrets that, in the absence of negligence, it cannot accept liability for loss or damage however caused to the personal property of any person attending this or any other event organised under the auspices of the Association. f any item is of significant value then participants are advised to check the cover that may be in place under existing policies (eg House Contents nsurance etc) and, if in doubt to effect specific insurance to cover the item in question for the duration of this event it is suggested that this should include travel to and from the event venue. 3
