We were blessed with ideal weather for footy no wind and Webb Oval again looked a treat with the coffee and food winning rave reviews! Unley Black came with a great attitude and a well structured game which gave our boys a challenge all game. Harry G was Captain and won the toss with Glenunga kicking to the northern end. With Josh and Will T on the interchange in the first quarter, all the boys stepped up across the 3 zones. Hugo, Ethan and William kept it tight at the back with some strong marks from Hugo and good passing play to Leroy, Harry N and Harry G. Leroy played his best game for the club and was strong in the contests and drove the ball forward where both Talan and Hudson kicked very good goals in the first quarter. Harrison was also busy supporting his mates. The second quarter was very tight with Harry N on the receiving end of good work in the midfield and Unley continued their good form in looking up and finding a teammate with their kick or handball. Coach Justin at half time pointed out that our boys needed to continue looking for their teammate when passing or handballing. The third quarter saw the midfield of Will T, Josh and Hudson work hard to gain possession and send it to the forward line. Hugo was able to deliver two excellent centring kicks which ended in great marks from Ethan who kicked his first goal. Hugo also kicked a nice goal from a difficult angle. Harrison, Talan and Harry N defended well against opponents who were passing well to a player in the clear. Like the other quarters, the last quarter was a tight tussle with both sides looking to find their teammates when they were in possession. Hugo, Leroy and Harry G formed a formidable wall which provided good rebound to Harrison, Talan and Harry N. Harry N copped a footy in the mouth from a long kick out of defence from Hugo. Ethan came on and provided a few handy touches before the brave Harry N came back on and got the ball forward which resulted in a Will T goal. Josh finished off the game in style with a nice opportunistic goal running into the goal square after a nice kick from a teammate. Coach Justin was very pleased with the endeavour of all the players against a quality opposition who were well structured and continually looked to find a teammate free. We can all learn from the positive way Unley play and the importance of finding an opponent when they have got the ball. Today we had 7 individual goal scorers and first goals in the official fixture to both Ethan and Hudson. Talan, Hugo, Harry N, Will T and Josh also added to the scoreboard. Best players were Hugo, Leroy, Harry N, Talan and Will T. Best Player to Hugo for a very strong marking, running and kicking display especially in defence and the many times he looked up and found a teammate with his kick. The Team Award goes to Will T for the enthusiastic training and the way he is always looking to give an effective disposal to a teammate and the way he always encourages his mates. Encouragement Award goes to Hudson for his first goal and his strong attack on the ball at ground level and especially in the forward lines where he held it in a few times. Next week is our first away game at Mitcham (white shorts). See you all on the training track and please read Justin s comments below for the players to read and work on for next weeks game.

Photos from Round 3 (thanks again Salli) The players are starting to learn the song and Harry N making good position to receive the ball. Hugo taking a big leap and Leroy in possession with Harry G and Harry N running to help him out. Ethan showing nice technique guiding the ball and Talan using his pace to run around his opponent.

William ready to go! Hudson about to win the centre ball up after a Glenunga goal. How high can you kick Harry N? Ethan with eyes on the ball. Hugo with dash and Leroy in action.

Harry G in defence and Will T with a nice handpass. Good eyes on the ball Harrison and great positioning from Coach Justin.

Good effort by William at the ball up and good chasing Will T and Josh.

COACH JUSTIN S COMMENTS FOR EACH PLAYER Leroy Excellent game Leroy. I was really happy with your positive attitude and the way that you looked for your teammates every time you got the ball. Great effort. Talan Another very good game Talan. You have been one of our most consistent performers so far. Remember to call for the ball nice and loud when you get in a good position to receive. Keep up the good work. Harrison Had another great last quarter with some good positioning leading to lots of possessions. I liked the way you passed the ball and looked for your teammates. Hopefully your foot will start to feel better this week. Harry G Well done Captain. Another very good game including good attack at the ball and lots of running to good positions. You also delivered a very nice handball to Harry N which set up a shot on goal. Hugo Fantastic game again Hugo. You are really desperate to win every contest and I really like the way you quickly recover back on to your feet. Some excellent courageous marking and good passing to Ethan to set him up for a couple of shots on goal. Harry N Great game Harry. You continue to provide lots of dash and ball carry which is really important. In the second half you looked for your teammates and gave out some excellent short passes. Good courage coming back on in the last quarter. Hudson Your best game so far Hudson. Led into some nice spots and was rewarded with your teammates kicking it to you. Remember leading is only half the job, you also need to call nice and loud so your teammates know where you are. You also kicked a great goal well done. William R The ball didn t really go your way on Sunday and that sometimes happens. I can see that you are trying hard and your kicking and handballing is improving every week. Keep working hard and practicing at home. Josh Another really good game Josh. You are a very consistent performer and always deliver the ball by both hand and foot to a teammate. I have also been really impressed with your attitude at training and on game day. Well done.

Ethan Good game Ethan. You took some strong marks and got into some good spots to receive kicks from Hugo. Let s work on your kicking for goal this week. Well done. Will T Once again, another top performance. Some great marks and handballs to your teammates. Great to see you get around Ethan and encourage him when he missed a goal. Your team spirit and attitude is outstanding! Oscar 4 weeks and counting! Great to see you out there again Oscar.
