Miller Avenue Elementary Husky News Bi-Weekly Issue: The newsletter, loaded with information pertaining to our school, can be found on the Garaway home page at www.garaway.org - hover over the schools tab and click on Miller Avenue from the drop-down. Call the office at (330)852-2441 for any questions you may have and we will be happy to help you. Thursday, September 29, 2016 Smile and Move: Wake Up Watching is an important part of listening. Over 50% of a message s meaning is communicated through body language...and another 38% is conveyed through the speaker s tone. We ve got to listen to more than just the words. (McKay, M. Davis and P. Fanning, 1995) This quote reminds me of the insurance commercial on TV, where a young girl is getting a new car, and a man sees his car up on blocks. The commercial shifts back and forth between the two. They are saying the exact same words ( Is this my car? This is ridiculous! ), but their situation, tone and feelings are totally different. Smiling and Moving (Waking Up) is about making that little bit of extra effort to communicate a positive message through serving others.

Congratulations to our Miller Avenue Students Jonathon Domer, Colton Domer, Emily Kuemerle, Colson Kuemerle, Hailey Schlabach, and Cede Schlabach for their efforts and showings at the Tuscarawas County Fair! Great job everyone! Grades K, 1 & 2 Monarch Butterfly Release Study The classes have released a combined total of 88 Monarch butterflies. At last count, it was a tie...44 boy and 44 girl Monarchs.

The Miller Avenue PTO sponsored a Spirit Night on Thursday, September 15th at Dutch Valley Restaurant. A very yummy buffet meal was enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks to all of you who came out and supported us! We hope you had a great time! Here are some pictures from that evening.

We will also play catch with scoops and Frisbees and be testing for push-ups, sit-ups and the shuttle-run. All of these will keep us all smiling and moving in gym class!
