<p/> 12th August 2016 (2016 edition #32) So, I m late getting the TT done again! Issues with internet at home haven t been helped by the huge amount of events that people are participating in and all of the new events that have been added to our Events page since last week. It s more work for me, but keep it up. There are a number of events coming up this week, not least the Olympic Men s race on Thursday and the Ladies Event on Saturday. Rob is organising social events around these so please follow the link below and get signed up. I m away for the next couple of weeks so Rob Lines will be taking over editing the TT, please continue to send through your results and any interesting articles that you find to tt@trianglia.co.uk. Congratulations to Craig Alexander, Lee Collins, Patrick Monk and Jane Blackwell who completed the London Olympic Triathlon on Saturday. Mia Bateson who was 2nd girl, Max Kirby with a new PB and Aidan Banfield at last Sunday s Norwich Junior Parkrun Thanks to Emily Jones, Di Swanepoel, Vince Butler, Lee Collins, Steve Hunter and Rob Lines for their contributions to this weeks TT News Items Autumn Waveney There are still places available for this end-of-season race hosted in the scenic Bungay countryside. Whether you're new to triathlon or an experienced racer this sprint-distance event has much to offer. Sign up here to support the last club event of the season! Otherwise, if you're not wanting to race, please come and help us run the event. There are lots of roles to fill on the Saturday and Sunday setting out the course and marshalling/cheering the competitors on! If you can help, drop Steve a line waveneytriathlon@tri-anglia.co.uk - we need all the help we can get! OWS update Whitlingham lake is warming up nicely and still open for swimming every Wednesday evening (until the the end of August), and Saturday mornings through September. However if you are swimming we just need to make you aware of a potential issue. A member who has swum recently has been diagnosed with folliculitus, for which the possible cause is the bacteria Staph aureus which may be present in the lake. This is still to be confirmed for definite, however we would urge all swimmers to wash thoroughly with soap after being in the lake in order to minimise the risk to themselves. Olympic Triathlon Olympics starts today (Friday 5 August). Triathlon takes place at 3pm on Thursday 18th for the men and Saturday 20th for the lady. We are considering using the Whitlingham Boathouses as our viewing venue. Care to join us? Let us know via the two FB events we've created: Mens Womens Regional Academy trials This year's Regional Academy trials will take place at New Hall School, Chelmsford on 11th and 18th September. As in previous years the format of the trial is swim followed by run. The distances depend on your age on the day of the trial. If you are 16 or under the distances are 200m and 1500m. If you are 17 or over the distances are 400m and 3,000m. Each trial is solo and unpaced. There is a gap of approximately an hour between

the two as we complete the trials in the pool and then move to the running track. Your 'score' in points is based on the aggregate of your two times. The baseline for the Regional Academy programme is 310 points (Silver). Points are based on age and gender. As a guideline the following times score 155 points: Age 14 boy - swim 2:22, run 4:57 Age 14 girl - swim 2:30, run 5:25 Age 17 boy - swim 4:42, run 10:04 Age 17 girl - swim 5:03, run 11:13 The Regional Academy is the first step of the British Triathlon Talent Pathway. All British Olympic talent programmes are based on Olympic disciplines, so for triathlon that means draft legal racing. The British Triathlon Youth and Junior Superseries is a key aspect of the Academy programme and Academy members are expected to compete in as many of these events as possible. The trial target times are based on the minimum swim and run speeds required to be able to race in the Superseries. Please note that the trials are not 'for a place in the Academy' and that scoring over 310 points does not guarantee a place. Those scoring 310 or more will be invited to apply for an Academy place. Please also note that the Academy programme is for athletes competing in the Youth and Junior age groups. i.e This year's trials are open to those born in 1998 to 2002 in inclusive. If you would like to come for a trial please let me know which date you would prefer (Tim@Perfectcondition.ltd.uk). For further information on the Regional Academy, the British Triathlon Talent programme and the Youth and Junior Superseries, please visit the new British Triathlon website, www.britishtriathlon.org That s Interesting Little things that have caught our eye this week that you might find interesting.
