When we can do that for a few days straight, most of us consider it to be one of life s epic scenarios. Now, imagine doing that with some of your best riding buddies every year, for 30 years. Straight. Without missing a single year. I said 30 years. The annual Nevada 200 Trail Ride is put on by two off-road living legends who have done just that. Casey Folks (Best in the Desert) and Scot Harden (Harden Off-Road) have been riding this ride together for more consecutive years than most marriages last. And rumor has it the quality of their ride is nothing short of blissful. What s their secret? Even while Folks was busy promoting some of the most well-known desert races in the west and Harden was competing across an impressive off-road motorcycle and rally racing career, the two

Cycle News was one of the lucky ones attending this year and we got a first-hand look at what keeps these guys, and the invitees, coming back. Spoiler alert it s 200 miles of really great trail. Oh, and a bunch of riding buddies. Harden and Folks split trail duties up for A and C rides and both routes received rave reviews from the attending riders at the end of each day. They organize the event along with a long list of dedicated volunteers, family and friends. And if you re lucky enough to attend, you ll be able to see, first hand, how epic it can be. (Top) Spring had sprung in the pits of the Nevada 200. While the air temperature required riding jackets for the mornings, the conditions couldn t have been better. A snowstorm the week prior left the berms deliciously tacky with some wet sand beneath. (Bottom) Participants start their weekend of riding with five free gallons of VP T4 Fuel. VOL. 51 ISSUE 21 MAY 28, 2014 P95 Approximately 150 riders made it to the event this year. We were honestly surprised more of the California-based motorcycle industry wasn t there. The drive is worth the trail, food and laughs for sure! (Left) There were zero starvation-related incidents at this year s Nevada 200 Trail Ride. (Middle) The Purvines Racing Beta team was out at the Nevada 200 in full force. They even brought heavy hitter Nick Burson to speed things up. Beta held demo rides after the first day for anyone wanting to ride a new machine. One participant even bought one of the demo bikes on-the-spot! (Right) KLIM has been on as a Nevada 200 Sponsor for a few years now. And every year they show up with some great gear. The riding population at this ride is more KLIM than ever now. This year, the KLIM crew was showing off their all new F4 Helmets in new colors and an ultra-light ECE version. They, too, went riding.
