Winnipeg Jets: Media Notes Anaheim Ducks @ WINNIPEG JETS MTS Centre Wednesday, April, 5. 8:3p.m. Playoff Game 4 (-3) Home Playoff Game (-) GAME PREVIEW The Winnipeg Jets find themselves with their 4-5 season on the line Wednesday night at the MTS Centre, as they re facing a 3- hole in their series with the Anaheim Ducks. The Jets have fallen to the Ducks by scores of 4-, - and 5-4 (OT). Adam Lowry leads the Jets in scoring, with a point in each of the three games (G, A), while Anaheim forward Corey Perry is tied for the league lead both in points (5) and goals (3). The Jets power play finally struck during Monday night s 5-4 overtime loss, as Tyler Myers scored with the man advantage. The Jets power play is now / in the series, while the Ducks are 3/. Winnipeg has held a lead going into the third period of each of the last three games, but has been unable to secure a victory in the series. A win Wednesday night would keep the Jets season alive, and send the teams back to Anaheim for Game 5. TEAM NOTES Crash and bang The Jets have been one of the most physical teams all year, finishing with,49 hits during the regular season, good enough for eighth in the league. The playoff version of the Jets has been no different, using their body in what s been a very physical series with the Ducks. Monday night s game saw the two teams combine for 5 hits 6 which were credited to Winnipeg. Jets captain Andrew Ladd led all skaters with hits on the night, surpassing his season high of hits (Feb.6/5 vs. St. Louis). Ladd now has a total of 7 hits through three games the most of anyone playing in this series. Playing with the lead A 3- series lead might mean that one team has jumped out ahead and severely outplayed their opponent. However, this series hasn t quite gone like that. Winnipeg has actually led far more than they ve trailed in games during this series, holding the lead in a game for 65:53 compared to just : of time when they ve trailed. The Jets have taken a one-goal lead into the third period in each game during the series, but have been outscored 7- by the Ducks during the third periods and overtime across the first three games of the season. White Noise Winnipeg hockey fans waited 9 years for the return of an NHL playoff game to their city, and they brought their A-game Monday night at the MTS Centre. Crowd noise was registered at 4 decibels at times - for reference, a military jet taking off registers at around 3 decibels. The game also marked the return of the White Out, as the majority of the 5,-plus fans who filled the MTS Centre dressed in white, bringing back the tradition to its original NHL home for the first time in nearly years. Rings in the room While the Jets are in the middle of their first post-season series since moving to Winnipeg, that doesn t mean they re devoid of playoff experience. In fact, multiple Jets hold Stanley Cup rings from previous runs with other franchises. Captain Andrew Ladd has two rings in his jewelry collection, winning his first as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes in 6 and his second with the Chicago Blackhawks in. Defenceman Dustin Byfuglien was Ladd s teammate when they won the Stanley Cup in, and Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff was a part of that team as the assistant general manager as well. Forward Michael Frolik also won a cup with Chicago, as a member of the Blackhawk s 3 championship team. Behind the bench, assistant coach Charlie Huddy has a handful of championship rings, winning them while playing with the Edmonton Oilers in 984, 85, 87, 88 and 9. PLAYER NOTES Spreading it around The Jets have seven different goal-scorers in this series so far, as Adam Lowry, Drew Stafford, Adam Pardy, Lee Stempniak, Tyler Myers, Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little have all found the back of the net. Each of those players is tied for the team lead with one post-season goal. different Jets have recorded at least a single point, while three Jets (Lowry, Stafford and Jacob Trouba) have earned multiple points. Lowry, the team s points leader, is also tied for the league lead in rookie playoff scoring with Ottawa s Mark Stone and Vancouver s Bo Horvat.

Big man, big minutes Winnipeg Jet defenceman Tyler Myers scored his team s first power play goal of the playoffs in the second period of the Jet s 5-4 OT loss Monday night. Myers has seen plenty of ice time since coming over to Winnipeg, and led his team with 6: Monday night. Myers leads all players in the series in ice time in the playoffs at 7:54. In his previous five games, Myers has played under 4 minutes only once. The 6 8 Texas native now has 8 points (3G, 5A) in 6 career playoff games. The kids are alright The playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks is the first taste of the NHL post-season for Jets players who have been drafted since the franchise relocated to Winnipeg. Young Jets Jacob Trouba, Mark Scheifele and Adam Lowry all recorded points in their playoff debuts on Apr.6/5 against Anaheim. Lowry scored the Jets first goal while Trouba and Scheifele each earned an assist. The trio accounted for three of the Jets five total points in the game, and were a combined +3. Lowry and Trouba, along with Drew Stafford, are two of the only three Jets to record multiple points in the series so far, while Lowry leads the team with three points. UPCOMING MILESTONES Andrew Ladd is two playoff goals away from in his career Adam Lowry is one playoff goal, point, or assist away from the franchise record in all three categories JETS-DUCKS CONNECTIONS Jets forward Mathieu Perreault played last season with the Anaheim Ducks collecting 43 points in 69 games Ducks defenceman Colby Robak hails from Gilbert Plains, MB Ducks leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf and Jets captain Andrew Ladd were WHL teammates on the Calgary Hitmen for two seasons, 3-4 & 4-5 Ducks centre Ryan Kesler (3-5) & defenceman Mark Fistric (8-9) are former members of the Manitoba Moose Anaheim s Cam Fowler & Winnipeg s Blake Wheeler were teammates on the 4 U.S. Olympic team that competed in Sochi, RUS The Winnipeg Jets were at the Honda Center on Jan./5 when the Ducks honoured former Winnipeg Jet Teemu Selanne by raising his jersey to the rafters BY THE NUMBERS Centre Bryan Little is 7- (69.%) in face offs over the last two games Adam Lowry scored his first career playoff goal in his first career playoff game Apr.6/5 at Anaheim.
