On your free time, spend a lazy afternoon on Waikiki s golden sands, take a surfing lesson, hop aboard a catamaran, and sail off towards Diamond Head or enjoy some shopping time at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, an open-air shopping oasis, minutes from Waikiki. As the sun sets, find that special spot, sit back, sip a mai tai and be hypnotized by the views while listen to the harmonies of a slack key guitar. At night, come mingle with the local folks who have made this their lifetime playground. We suggest that you allow a minimum of two hours in advance. Aloha! Welcome to Honolulu, Hawaii! On arrival, please make your way to the baggage claim area. You will be met by our local staff and greeted with a traditional fresh flower lei, a Hawaiian tradition and symbol of hospitality, love, respect, and Aloha. Once everyone has claimed their bags, we are off by chartered bus to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, your home for the next seven nights. Ideally located, right across from Waikiki Beach and offering a wide variety of shops and restaurants within steps. Once you have your room keys, drop your bags, and enjoy a swim or bask in the afternoon sun. The remainder of the afternoon and evening is free. Day 2 September 19 th, 2018 Wednesday Honolulu (B/L) After breakfast at the hotel, please meet your local guides in the lobby as we are off on a full day of touring, The Grand Circle Island Tour. During this captivating, wraparound adventure, you will be swept off to the island s most awe-inspiring landmarks and destinations, including the world-famous Hanauma Bay, the spouting Blow Hole, Pali Lookout and the sacred Kualoa Ranch nestled against the stunning Koolau Mountains. Below is an overview of the sights you will be seeing along the day. Lunch is included in today s tour and will be at Kualoa Ranch.
Tour Overview (*denotes stops made) Diamond Head A 200,000-year-old defining volcanic structure formed from the Honolulu Volcanic Series. It is a symbol of the worldwide recognition of the Hawaiian Islands. Kahala Estates A large concentration of some of the most expensive real estate and beachfront properties in Hawaii. Many celebrities and business moguls have their vacation home in this area. Hanauma Bay Lookout* Once a recreational area of the Hawaiian nobility, today this sheltered bay is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island. It is closed on Tuesdays. This tour does not include swimming at the Bay, stopover is access permitting. As the Bay is a strict conservation area, on occasion when capacity is reached, we may not be allowed to stop. Halona Blow Hole Lookout* This volcanic lava tube propels water into the sky like a whale s blowhole. Waimanalo Town* This quaint scenic town is known for its local flavor and numerous plant nurseries and agricultural lots that extend back towards the Koolau Mountains. Nuuanu Pali Lookout* This bewitchingly scenic lookout was also the site of the Battle of Nuuanu, one of the bloodiest conflicts in Hawaiian history. It was here that Kamehameha I conquered the island of Oahu on his quest to unite the Hawaiian Islands. Byodo-In Temple* This picturesque Buddhist temple tucked in the Valley of the Temples is a half-sized scale replica of the 900-year-old temple in Japan. It has been featured in Hawaii Five-O, Magnum, P.I., Lost and the 2001 movie Pearl Harbor. Kualoa Ranch* Enjoy a tram ride around one of the most sacred places on the island. The sacred hill of Kauakahi-a-Kahoowaha, found here, was the key to sovereignty of the Kingdom of Oahu. Laie Hawaii Mormon Temple The first temple built by the LDS Church outside the continental United States, this beautiful complex features breathtaking lush tropical gardens of Hawaiian foliage and flowers, cascading water features and more. North Shore Surfing Beaches Welcome to the surfing Mecca of the world! Watch out for the massive winter waves that have attracted so many surfers to its shores. These beaches are also a popular Hollywood area for filming. Dole Plantation* Visit Hawaii s Pineapple Experience, see pineapples from all over the world and try the delicious Dole Whip ice cream! Chinaman s Hat This basalt islet in Kaneohe Bay is shaped curiously like a hat. According to Hawaiian mythology, the island is formed from the remains of a Dragon s tail that was chopped off and tossed to the ocean. We now make our way back to Waikiki and our hotel. Once back, the remainder of the afternoon and evening is free. Day 3 September 20 th, 2018 Thursday Honolulu (B/D) After breakfast at the hotel, a compete free day to enjoy as you please, but don t forget later this afternoon we will be meeting up for the short drive to Paradise Cove, a private estate on 12 oceanfront acres to experience Hawaiian culture through a delicious island feast, traditional activities, and entertainment! For your free day, the options are many. Consider a day by the pool or bask in the island s sun, on Waikiki Beach, just across the street. For those who prefer shopping time, a visit to the Ala Moana Shopping Center or private shuttle to the Waikele Premium Outlets.
If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, rent a car and spend time exploring the island, maybe a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center or time exploring Haleiwa, along the North Shore. Explore local shops, legendary Hawaiian surfing history and delicious dining in Haleiwa. For lunch, a stop at one of the many shrimp trucks along the roadside is a must. They may not look like much, but Hawaiian shrimp trucks offer one of Oahu's best delicacies on a paper plate. This mouth-watering meal alone is worth the drive. Please meet back at the designated time as we are off to Paradise Cove for an unforgettable evening of activities, delicious island cuisine and spectacular entertainment. With the most spectacular Hawaiian sunset as a backdrop, the Paradise Cove Main Stage explodes with the beauty and excitement of the traditional songs and dances of Hawai i and Polynesia. Our awardwinning dancers will entertain and amaze you with a performance that is as unforgettable as the perfect setting of Paradise Cove itself. After the show, we return to our hotel and once there, the remainder of the evening is free. Day 4 September 21 st, 2018 Friday Honolulu (B) After breakfast at the hotel, please meet your local guides in the lobby as we are off on another full day of touring. Today s tour, Stars and Stripes, a fitting name for this emotionally resonating expedition that explores the legacy of Pearl Harbor and its profound impact on world history. The journey begins at Pearl Harbor, with exhibits of personal memorabilia, dramatic photographs, battle artifacts and real film footage of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack. You will then travel by boat to the USS Arizona Memorial, the sunken battleship where more than 1,100 of the ship s crewmen lost their lives. The USS Arizona tour includes a special narrated audio tour, featuring the voices of Pearl Harbor survivors. While at the Battleship Missouri, also known as the Mighty Mo, you will hear colorful stories about the ship s history and stand where Gen. Douglas MacArthur accepted the Instrument of Surrender from Japan that ultimately ended World War II. After Pearl Harbor, sit back for a narrated drive to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, where many American men and women who died fighting for their country are buried. The trip culminates with a drive through historic Honolulu to see the area s noteworthy landmarks Hawaii State Capital, Honolulu City Hall, Iolani Palace, and Kawaiahao Church. The long awaited day is here, Football Saturday at Aloha Stadium! GO DUKES! The morning begins with breakfast at your hotel and free time until we meet to make our way to Aloha Stadium for the official Duquesne Tailgate Party followed by the game. After the game, return to Waikiki and our hotel. Time to get out and celebrate the WIN! vs Day 6 September 23 rd, 2018 Sunday Honolulu (B) After breakfast, please enjoy a complete free day!
