UIL REGION 9 MARCHING BAND CONTEST Information Packet 2016 On behalf of Brad Bouley, UIL Region 9 Executive Secretary, welcome to the UIL Region 9 Marching Band Contest for 2015. We hope this information packet will be helpful in making your final preparations in traveling to Conroe ISD Woodforest Bank Stadium. We wish for you and your students to enjoy a stress free experience and wish you the very best. ARRIVAL: Upon arrival, a guide will meet you, to help park your buses and direct your equipment truck(s) to the designated area which is on the visitor's side of the stadium. There will be a guide there to help give instructions and answer questions. DIRECTOR CHECK IN: nd All directors will check in with Mr. Bouley in the press box on the 2 floor. Please have all of the necessary forms: Form #1- signed by your principal Announcer Sheet Letter of Intent to advance to Area Competition Statement of Compliance UIL RULES: Please refer to your UIL Constitution and Contest Rules Book and your UIL/TEA Side by Side found on the UIL website. Please review all entry/exit, timing rules, warm-up regulations, electronic equipment usage and all other marching band contest matters as directed by UIL and Mr. Bouley. TICKETS: Ticket sales to Region 9 marching contests off-set the charges by the Conroe ISD for stadium usage, police and EMS personnel, and stadium clean-up. A $3.00 admission is charged for all adults and school aged children. Children 12 years and under are admitted free of charge. Each director will be allowed 15 chaperones/pit crew to enter the stadium without charge. WARM- UP See the enclosed map for warm up locations. All bands will warm-up outside in the parking lot south of the stadium Metronomes: Shall FACE AWAY from the stadium and shall not be audible from the stadium. Warm-Up time: Please adhere to UIL warm-up guidelines and policies. Color Guard warm-up: can be with your band or in the designated area in front of the Visitor's stands. Pit Percussion: May warm-up on the south end of the stadium by our natatorium, provided your sound is shielded by the natatorium. We ask that you have keyboard only as much as possible with no big impacts due to the close proximity of the competition field. You will be asked to stop your pit

Courtesy will be appreciated if you are asked to tone it down or stop playing. PERFORMANCE AREA: Woodforest Bank Stadium is an artificial surfaced field with no track. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the artificial surface. All golf carts, trailers, etc. are to remain on the concrete area only. The Bands will enter Southeast (Visitor's side) and the Pit enters Southwest (home side). Do not block any gate with vehicles and equipment. Please have at least one adult with your equipment. Stadium Exit: All pit and prop equipment will exit through the Northwest gate (Home side). All Ba nds will e x it throu g h the N o r the a st gate ( V isi t o r side). Electrical Outlets: There are three outlets available, near the 50 yd. Line. BUT...always have a back up power source for those wonderful everything is going wrong moments that may pop-up. Also, refer to all the new UIL guidelines and directives for electronic usage. MAP/DIRECTIONS: We have included maps and directions with this information. MISC. INFORMATION: a. Instrument Repair: Located near the band entry gate. b. Concessions: Will be available on the HOME side of stadium. c. Restrooms: Open on both sides of stadium. Region 9 Marching Entry Checklist Date: Tuesday, October 25, 2016 Site: Woodforest Bank Stadium Conroe ISD Host: Dana Pradervand, Oak Ridge High School What To Bring To The Contest: FORM 1 (one copy). List the entire eligible membership of the competing parent organization in alphabetical order. Form 1 must be signed by your principal. The form must be in the hands of the Contest Chair before your performance. It is not necessary to send the form with the rest of your entries. This form should be brought with you the day of the contest One copy of the Statement of Compliance One copy of the Announcer s Script One copy of the Letter of Intent for Area Marching Contest (4A and 6A if you are planning to compete at Area if eligible). What To Send: Must be postmarked by September 21, 2015 Check for Entry Fees. Fee includes recording and all State and Region fees. FORM 2 MARCHING BAND ADJUDICATION SHEETS These are prepared via the online entry procedure and will be printed by the executive secretary. MAIL BY ENTRY DEADLINE 1. Payments must be postmarked by the entry deadline. 2. Included a copy of the invoice from UIL FORMS Mail your check and invoice to: Region IX UIL Music 16914 Avenfield Rd. Tomball, Texas 77377 3. STATEMENT OF INTENT (4A and 6A bands only). Those 4A and 6A bands receiving a rating of 1 at the Region Marching Contest are eligible to advance to the Area Marching Contest provided they have a STATEMENT OF INTENT FORM on file prior to the Region Marching Contest Performance. Area Marching Statement of Intent The following procedure will be used at the Region Marching Contest for certification to AREA CERTIFICATION FOR ADVANCEMENT: Each music region shall certify bands to the area marching band contest under the following: A. Any band that has a Letter of Intent on file with the REGION EXECUTIVE COMMETTEE and receives a Division 1 rating at the region contest shall be certified for advancement to area. B. In the event only one band, or NO bands receive a Division 1 rating, two bands shall be selected by the judging panel for advancement to area. In such cases, the scoring procedure will conform to the ranking system outlined in the Constitution & Contest Rules. ONLY bands that have filed a Statement of Intent will be considered. A LETTER OF INTENT must be FAXED with your other forms to the REGION EXEC. SECRETARY. THIS FORM CANNOT BE SUBMITTED ONLINE, PLEASE PRINT AND FAX WITH YOUR OTHER REQUIRED FORMS TO THE REGION UIL MUSIC OFFICE.
