GPGC Bullseye Pistol December 2010 We had 9 shooters at our last Bullseye match of 2010! It was ~ 35 deg F to start out with. Thankfully, there was no wind to make it feel colder. Homer Garza shot a 276 with 8Xs to win first place. Ed Dotson also shot 276 with 7Xs for 2nd place. Hoa Nguyen was 3rd with 268 and 1X. Homer shot a 99, 6Xs in RAPID FIRE. This is the first 99 in rapid fire I ve seen at GPGC. All 3 of these folks shot with an optical sight. Hoa shot an 84, 1X in slow fire for slow fire high scorer. Ed shot a 95 for high scorer in timed fire. Homer used a Ruger Mk III, 5 1/2 barrel with a Bushnell 1X sight with multiple colored reticles. Both Ed and Hoa shot with M 1911frame.22s with fixed position barrel, and 1X red Dot sights. Ed and Hoa shot with a ONE HAND hold; Homer used a two hand hold. There will be NO silhouette match on Dec. 25th, Christmas day. Our next Bullseye match will be Jan. 15, 2010 at 9 AM. Y all Come! Rifle Baffles Work Day The weather was balmy and the sky was blue when a group of gun club members came together Saturday morning. All were waiting for our leader to arrive and assign jobs. Someone suggested since we were there the group should do something so Jeff Zwiebel quickly pointed to a grown over pile of metal and trash and said, Let s clean that up. And we did. Then he found other projects and when Don Yeandle showed up with plywood and tools his helpers were all busy making the club look better. Don then set up the metal chop saw and grinders so racks of purlin became vertical supports encased in marine grade plywood to form new boxes to hold pea gravel and prevent errant bullets from straying. This was the first of several days that it will take to have the boxes finished and ready to hang on new poles at the 100 yard targets on the rifle range but Don has a schedule and his goal is to have this project finished so he can move on the other things. Don does not let grass grow under his feet. He was a good choice for our newest board member representing the rifle shooters. Below is a list of the members that we want to thank for their help. Jim Grabbe, Jim Wilson & Don Yeandle on their knees Walter Kilroy Terry Cullender John McGlone Jay Warren Ed Dotson Dale Holder Charles Richerson Jim Grabbe Dan Brown Michael Johnson Don Yeandle Mark Weatherby Jim Wilson Bill Schweitzer Jeff Zwiebel And then the following Saturday the 11th another group showed up to finish the last baffle so Dale Holder s guys would be able to weld all the internal metal together to prepare them for covering. Those that came out to help were: Charles Richerson Jay Phillips Jeff Zwiebel Terry Cullender Bill Schweitzer Don Yeandle 5 Ed Dotson & John McGlone stacking steel
