Club Meeting SLC Screening of Basque Documentary Salt Lake City will hold a screening of the documentary Basques in the West featuring our club members, Jaime and Madalena Sangroniz. The screening will be held on April 12 at 7 pm at the Salt Lake Public Library. The cost is $10. The story line encompasses a brief history of the Basques and their immigration to the American West from Spain and France. The film brings to life the resolute determination of the Basque people to succeed in their adopted country and how they as a community supported one another. It is worth seeing again and again. At the Salt Lake City screening, we will be honoring the Sangroniz family for their participation in making this documentary such a success. For more info, you may contact Cirbie Sangroniz. More information is on their website http://bit.ly/ymqptr 1

Club Dancers Cirbie Lee would like anyone interested in dancing to know that dance practice will start next Sunday at 5 pm. The dancers will be performing at the Living Traditions Festival in May. If you have any questions about the dancers, please contact Cirbie at basquetrack@yahoo.com or (801) 671-5917. Club Picnic on June 23! The annual club picnic will be held on June 23. Save this date so you don t miss it! We are looking for someone to chair this event. Look in the mail for a flyer with more information on the time and location of the picnic. Looking for a Golf Scramble Chair Phil Archibeque, last year s chair of the golf scramble, has told the Basque Club of Utah executive committee that he will be stepping down as the chair of the golf tournament. For the tournament to continue, we will need someone to chair this committee and volunteers to help with the organization and execution of the tournament. Cooking Club We are still hoping to restart the Basque Club of Utah Cooking Club. The chair, Monique Flesher, reports that we have had very few applications sent in regarding cooking group membership Anyone who is interested and has not yet sent back the signed membership agreement, please send it in as soon as possible. If you need the application, please email Monique at moniqueflesher@gmail.com. We would like to get our first dinner scheduled but wanted to make sure that we have included everyone that wants to be included. Living Traditions Festival The 28 th annual Salt Lake Arts Council Living Traditions Festival will take place on May 17-19. The Basque Club of Utah will be selling Basque food to raise money for our club activities over the three day period. Many volunteers will be needed to make this a success. Please make sure to mark your calendars so that you remember to volunteer to work in the booth. Please contact Mary Gaztimbide and let her know when you can work. We will need volunteers to make the churro dough on Friday morning, to load up the trailer, set up downtown, work the booth, break down the booth on Sunday evening and clean up on Monday. Please help out if you can. In addition to the booth, our dancers, Utah ko Triskalariak, will be performing on Sunday. Please let Mary Gaztambide know if you would like to be the chair or serve on the committee. 2 More information here: http://livingtraditionsfestival.com/
