CREDITON RFC NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2017 www.pitchero.com/clubs/crediton Twitter @CreditonRFC https://www.facebook.com/creditonrfc Tel: 01363 772784 WELCOME. Well that s it for this season or is it? Hello all I hope you are enjoying your summer break and making the most of this very rugby-like weather we are having! A big thank you to everyone who came along to help tidy up the Club over the summer. Because of your efforts, we were able to do a lot of painting to freshen up the changing areas. We are now looking to form a small group of people who are willing to give their time to keep the clubhouse and changing areas in a good state of repair so if you have a trade/skill and are happy to help then please contact Colin Foan on colin.foan@outlook.com It won t be long before the new season starts and work is well underway on several fronts to ensure that we hit the ground running. Bev Coupe has written to you all regarding membership renewal which is an important thing to add your to do list before the season gets underway. Sue John has been busy stocking up the kit store in preparation for the preseason rush so make sure you pay her a visit and Tracy Matthews is training up a new group of bar staff. Paul Harris and Tracy have also been busy putting together our high quality match-day programme. Our ladies team is up and running and training well. They are hosting an RFU Warriors Camp at 7pm on Wednesday 30 August so come along to the club and have some fun. The bar will be open and a BBQ is planned. Liz Goodman and the Social Committee have been very active and the newsletter has details of several events to put into your calendar and support. The fun starts with an invite to the junior section to come along to watch our 1st Team take on Torquay on Saturday 2nd September. This is a great experience for the younger members of our club. Thank you for your continued support for the club and I wish you all a fun-packed season. Best wishes Colin Mackenzie - Chairman chairman@creditonrfu.co.uk
RUGBY NEWS 2016/17 COACH COACH CONDITIONING COACH 1 ST XV Alec Hepburn 2 nd XV Sam Hill 3 rd XV Ladies Gemma Carnegie TRAIN ON TIMES Jason Luff Chris Gibson TUES & THURS 7-9 WED 7-8.30 COLTS Paul Comer Ian Dodd WED 7-8.30 Ladies Rugby Fun training sessions have been taking place over the summer and from the 6 th September, training is weekly, 7pm 8.30pm. JUNIOR RUGBY CHAIRMAN FOR 2017/18 IS SHANE BAYLEY Contact Shane on juniorchairman@creditonrfc.co.uk A message from Shane. I hope you ve had an enjoyable summer trying different activities and raring to get back into the rugby season. This season we will be continuing to enjoy the beautiful game, being all inclusive and having fun, this will be promoted by the coaches in their training sessions and games which will also incorporate the Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. We also aim to promote the RFU ethos that each session should be A.P.E.S Active, Purposeful, Enjoyable and Safe. We have always and will continue to promote a good team ethos encouraging everyone to be involved and to stretch themselves by trying different positions and learn new skills. Mixing the ability of the team playing the game is very important to bring the quieter or later developers through and for them to be fully engaged in the team.
I am often asked if we are successful as a Junior Section, this can be measured in different ways, but I would like to gauge it by the number of children who return each week to training and how many we get to progress into Colts and then the Senior sides. Crediton RFC has a strong history of the Senior teams being mainly juniors coming through the ranks which we hope to continue. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the coaches for their time and commitment and to all the parents for the support of your children. The coaches will still require your support with help carrying the kit and doing a turn in the kitchen. Please can I remind you that all the coaches and referees are volunteers and we need to conduct ourselves in the correct manner. I hope you have another enjoyable season. 2016/17 COACH COACH COACH TRAIN ON TIMES U16 s Eddie Jamie THURS 6 7.30pm Yeandle McFazdean U15 s Shane Danny Toby FRI 6 7.30pm Bayley Howard Newstead U14 s Mark Bastin Mark Randall Jono Camers FRI 6 7.30pm U13 s Jay Harris Mark Gulley FRI 6 7pm U12 s U11 s U10 s Michael Grigg Ben Blackburn Shaun Clarke Craig Phillip Shaun Wallis FRI 6 7pm Barney Butterfield FRI FRI 6 7pm 6 7pm U9 s Interested?? safeguarding@creditonrfc.co.uk Emma Bolt webmaster@creditonrfc.co.uk John Davies Hale WELOME FROM OUR NEW PRESIDENT EDDIE TRICK When I first joined Crediton RFC forty-six years ago little did I think that one day I would become President of this great Club. The Club has played such a massive part in my life and to this day I have always felt enormously proud to be a member. Thank you for this huge honour. Our Club is many things to many people but what we must never forget is that we are first and foremost a RUGBY club. We are all exceptionally lucky to have an outstanding Chairman and Board of Directors and a Committee that works hard to provide the framework for the Club to flourish. We are also grateful to the numerous other volunteers who give generously of their time to help with the smooth running of the Club. We are very fortunate that so many companies and individuals generously sponsor the Club in many ways. Thank you all. Our coaches, from Seniors to Under 9 s, work exceptionally hard and uphold all the values that make rugby and Crediton RFC so special. Most important of all are the players - young men and women of whom we can all be proud and who hopefully feel as proud to wear the Crediton RFC shirt as I did. The recent Lions tour of New Zealand focused a shining light on all that we love about our great game of rugby - hugely competitive, skilful, passionate and enthralling but above all else it was about respect between opposing players, referees and supporters. Crediton RFC is very proud to be the holders of the Whistler Award, a prestigious award which is voted on by all the referees in the Devon Rugby Referees Society, for the most hospitable club in Devon. This says much about the way in which we respect and treat visitors at Crediton RFC. The Award is a huge honour and a just and fitting tribute to all our players, coaches, committee, members and spectators. Thank you one and all and good luck to you all for the coming season. Best wishes, Eddie Trick The RFU, in partnership with Premiership Rugby and the Rugby Players Association, promotes the Core Values to everyone from the England team to those in the grassroots game. The Core Values are reflected throughout. Lets all remember our Core Values TEAMWORK DISCIPLINE SPORTSMANSHIP RESPECT ENJOYMENT
