STEPScenla: THE RACE LATE REGISTRATION/ STARTING LINE JAM STRETCH: 7:30AM Come early. Color Big. Start your race with music, dancing, stretch warm-ups, and give aways! Waves of 200 runners will be released from the starting line every 10-15 minutes until all participants are on course. RACE COURSE/ COLOR STATIONS: 8AM Be prepared to be plastered with color from head to toe as you skip, hop, roll, dance, run/ walk throughout the 5K course. Color stations will be placed every half mile of the course. At anytime during the color station you feel the need to roll, dance, skip, crawl, or sing, please feel free to do so, but keep in mind that you should NOT stop at the color stations. Our color powder is made in the USA and is 100% safe and biodegradable. However, keep your eyes and mouth closed for your safety. You may wear glasses or eyewear to protect your eyes. Wear your STEPScenla 5K T-Shirt or clothes you would not mind getting color on incase of staining. If you have light hair, you may want to keep it covered with a bandana or funky wig as it may take a few days to fully wash out. HIPPITY-HOP DASH TO THE FINISH LINE: STEPScenla Color Run Our first annual 5K color run will be held in Downtown Marksville, Louisiana on Saturday, September 19, 2015. If you ordered a hippity-hop ball, you will receive a wristband in your packet. At the last 200 yards of the course, you will show your wrist band to a STEPScenla volunteer, and your ordered hippity-hop ball will be handed to you so that you may hop to the finish line with style! After the race, you may take your hippity-hop ball home with you, and use it or store it until the next STEPScenla 5K. Hippity-hop balls may be purchased upon registering. All funds from the Hippity-hop orders will be given directly to our local STEPScenla families to aid in traveling and hospital expenses.!!!!!!!! FINISH LINE BLOCK PARTY: 9AM-12PM After crossing the finish line, please quickly enter into the main party area so you do not block the other participants from coming through.the Finish Line Block Party will end the race with music, dancing, color explosions, give-aways, and much more! Each participant will receive a color pack with their STEPScenla Race Day Packet. Please remember to bring your color pack to the block party. Color explosions will count down every 15 minutes until all color supplies are exhausted. Extra packets are available for purchase on the STEPS website for additional color fun. STROLLERS/WAGONS: Children under 5 are allowed to participate for free in the race. If you would like to bring a stroller or wagon to help accommodate them throughout the course, please feel free to do so. Bikes, skates, rollerblades, skate boards, etc. are prohibited for this event. PETS: Pets are welcome to participate. However, they MUST be leashed and of NO threat to the other participants. You are responsible for disposing of their mess and any clean-up necessary to keep the race course clean. CLEAN-UP: We recommend to bring towels, garbage bags, or sheets to protect your vehicles for your ride home. Wet wipes are great to quickly clean your hands and face. Remember to dust off as much as possible before climbing into your vehicle.! SIGNS: If you registered as part of a team, your team could make a banner or signs to carry throughout the course. WHAT TO WEAR TO THE 5K We suggest WHITE! We will take care your colors. We do feel that you should take the time to accessorize. So put on those funky wigs, hats, bandanas, tutus, knee socks, feather boas, face paint, and temporary tattoos. Be creative! Be colorful! STEPScenla would like to extend a special thanks to your consideration of participating in the First Annual STEPScenla 5K Color Run! Pre-Packet Pick-Up is STRONGLY encouraged to avoid congestion and waiting race day morning. However, if you are unable to make it to pick up your packet early, you may pick it up race day morning. Please arrive extra early race day morning to wait in line. Pre-Packet Pick-Up (STRONGLY ENCOURAGED): On Friday, September 18th, packets may be picked up at the Marksville Fire Department from 10am-8pm. You may pick up your packet as well as others should you provide the following for EACH participant: Photo ID for each participant 18 and over and a pre-signed waiver. PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK ENTRIES OR EXITS OF THE FIRE STATION WHEN PARKING FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES. Race Day Packet Pick-Up: Packets may be picked up on race day, Saturday, September 19th as early as 7am. Please look for the STEPScenla Packet Pick-Up Tent located in the main gathering area in front of the Marksville City Court House on Main Street. Please be prepared to patiently wait in line as we work as quickly as we can to get your packet/packets issued to you. Packet contents: All packet contents will be stored in a string bag tote for your convenience. Please feel free to use your tote bag on race day to store water supplies, snacks, and your extra color packets! The contents of your participant bag will include your race day t-shirt, race rib, color packet/extra color packets ordered, and extra goodies. What is a Racing Bib: A racing bib is simply your race day participant number. Please be sure to attach your race bib to your clothing on race day. This number helps us to identify you on race day. Show Your Colors Rewards: Thanks to the generosity of the local businesses in our community, you will have several options to SHOW YOUR COLORS and receive rewards and perks if you show up at these businesses in your race day attire and colors. Be sure to keep your race bib and colors on and wear them proudly after the race. Parking: NO PUBLIC PARKING will be allowed around or inside of the Marksville City Court House Square. Please feel free to park at vacant nearby city lots. REMINDERS: * Runners please keep to the left; walkers and participants with strollers, etc. please keep to the right. * Please make sure to attach racing bib so that it can be easily seen at all times. * Teams may run/walk as a group or separately. * Friends and family who are not participating in the 5K course may wait in the main gathering area, but are not allowed in the race chute area. SAFETY RULES: * No alcohol is allowed to be brought into the gathering areas or on the 5k course. * Children should be supervised at all times. * Please follow all directions given by volunteers, race officials, and law enforcement. * If at anytime you feel the need for medical assistance, please notify our volunteers and medical volunteer staff. * Please keep our city clean by using proper trash receptacles.
