NEWS AND NOTES LEADING THE WAY: Now in his sixth season with the Trail Blazers, Terry Stotts was hired as the franchise s 14th head coach on August 7, 2012. Stotts led the Trail Blazers to a 41-41 record in 2016-17 and has compiled a 241-204 record in five-plus seasons with Portland. Stotts is the fourth-winningest coach in franchise history, and the first Trail Blazers head coach since Mike Dunleavy (1998-2001) to reach the playoffs in four consecutive seasons (fourth overall in franchise history). Stotts was named the Western Conference Coach of the Month in March 2017 after guiding Portland to an NBA-best 13-3 record for the month. With Stotts at the helm, the Trail Blazers have ranked in the top-10 in scoring for each of the past four seasons ( 13-14 to 16-17). ALL THAT BAZZ: Shabazz Napier scored a season-high 23 points (7-14 FG, 2-6 3-PT, 7-9 FT) against the 76ers on Dec. 28. Napier has scored 20-plus points in three straight games and is averaging 18.0 points (51.3 FG%, 42.3% 3-PT), 3.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists over the last six games (three starts). He has scored 279 points this season, the most in his career (261, 2014-15). FORTY-TWO IN THE FOURTH: The Trail Blazers outscored the 76ers, 42-25, in the fourth quarter on Dec. 28, marking Portland s highest-scoring quarter of the season. The quarter included a 19-0 run that gave the Trail Blazers the lead for good. Shabazz Napier led the charge with 15 points and three steals in the period while Jusuf Nurkic added 10 points and four rebounds. CJ SCORING 20: CJ McCollum scored 34 points (9-20 FG, 2-5 3-PT, 14-14 FT) against Philadlephia on Dec. 28, his second-highest scoring output this season. It was the second 30-point game and 20th game of 20+ points for McCollum this season, tied for the 17th most in the NBA (34, Harden). McCollum scored 20-plus points in six consectutive games from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18, the second-longest streak of his career (10, 12/26/16-1/13/17). FREE THROW FEAST: Portland made a season-high 36 free throws on a season high 47 attempts against Philadelphia on Dec. 28. CJ McCollum (14-of-14 FT) and Jusuf Nurkic (11-of-16 FT) both set career highs for free throws made and free throws attempted. HARK ATTACK: Maurice Harkless scored a season high 22 points (9-16 FG, 2-3 3-PT, 2-3 FT) to go with six rebounds and two blocks at the L.A. Lakers on Dec. 23. Harkless scored 13 of his points in the fourth quarter, including a threepoint play with 21.4 seconds remaining that gave the Trail Blazers the lead. ROOKIE WATCH: Zach Collins set career highs of 11 points and three assists at the L.A. Lakers on Dec. 23 after scoring 10 points against Denver on Dec. 22. Caleb Swanigan got the first start of his career on Nov. 13 against the Nuggets, recording six points, five rebounds and a season-high two blocks. DOUBLE-DOUBLE DAME: Damian Lillard had a double-double of 17 points and 13 assists to go with eight rebounds against the Timberwolves on December 18. It was the fifth double-double of the season for Lillard and the 50th of his career. Lillard recorded a double-double in two straight games from Dec. 16 to Dec. 18, the sixth time in his career he has done so in consecutive games. AL-FAROUQ ON FIRE: Al-Farouq Aminu made at least three 3-pointers in five of the eight games from Dec. 5-20. Aminu shot 23-of-45 (51.1%) from deep during that span. He has made five 3-pointers in four games this season after accomplishing the feat only twice previously in his career. Aminu is shooting 41.2% from the three point line for the season which is 31st in the NBA. LILLARD AT THE LINE: With his seventh free throw against the Heat on Dec. 13, Damian Lillard (2,081 career free throws) passed Jeromke Kersey (2,071) for fourth on Portland s all-time list. Lillard has made 193 free throws this season, the sixth most in the league (Harden, 302), and ranks sixth in the NBA in free throw percentage (92.8%). ROAD WARRIORS: The Trail Blazers were 3-2 on their five-game road trip from December 11 through 18. Portland previously completed a five-game trip spanning November 20 to 27 with a 4-1 record. Lillard scored 30-plus points in four straight games from Oct. 30-Nov. 5, the second longest streak of his career (five, 2/8/16-2/23/16). DOING IT ALL: Damian Lillard had 17 points, eight rebounds and 13 assists against at Minnesota on Dec. 18. DROPPIN DIMES: With fi ve assists agianst the Knicks on Nov. 27, Damian Lillard (2,644 career assists) moved past Rod Strickland (2,573 assists) for fourth on Portland s all-time assist list. Lillard is one of three players (Drexler, Porter) to rank in the top-10 on the franchise scoring list and in the top-five on the franchise assist list. MOVING ON UP: With a 26-point performance against the Magic on November 15, Damian Lillard passed Mychal Thompson for eighth place on the Trail Blazers all-time scoring list. NEWS AND NOTES THREE-JAY MCCOLLUM: CJ McCollum is shooting 40.8% from the three-point line this season, the 34th-best mark in the league. McCollum (78 3-PT made) is 28th in the NBA in 3-pointers made and has made at least three 3-PT shots in 15 games, tied for the 19th most in the NBA (Harden - 25). BLOCK PARTY: The Trail Blazers blocked a season-high 13 shots against the Nets on Nov. 24, becoming just the fifth team in the NBA with 13 or more blocks in a game this season. Jusuf Nurkic led the way, tying his season high with four blocks, while Maurice Harkless blocked three shots for the second time in three games and Jake Layman tied his career high with two blocks. In all, seven Portland players recorded a blocked shot. TRIPLE THREAT: With a combined 89 points against the Nets on Nov. 24, Damian Lillard (34 points), Jusuf Nurkic (29 points) and CJ McCollum (26 points) became the first Portland trio to each score 25+ points in a game since Clyde Drexler, Cliff Robinson and Rod Strickland accomplished the feat in 1995. LOCKDOWN D : The Trail Blazers held five consecutive opponents to 94 or fewer points from Nov. 13 to Nov. 20. Portland has held its opponent below 100 points in 17 games this season, the fifth most in the league. The Trail Blazers are 13-4 in those contests.
