FUNDRAISING PACK led by: www.actforwildlife.org.uk ACT FOR WILDLIFE IS OPERATED BY THE NORTH OF ENGLAND ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY. REGISTERED CHARITY NO 306077

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT By supporting ACT FOR WILDLIFE you are directly contributing to our conservation work around the world, helping us SAVE SPECIES FROM EXTINCTION. Somewhere in Kenya, RIGHT NOW, black rhinos are fighting a battle for their lives. With poaching by humans putting their very survival under threat. And they re not the only ones. There are hundreds of animals and plants losing their homes and in conflict with humans all over the world. All being pushed to the brink of existence. All desperately trying to avoid extinction. BUT IT DOESN T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. We can take steps to right these wrongs, today. We need to act now and begin to make a difference. By fundraising for ACT FOR WILDLIFE you are helping do just that. Act for Wildlife is led by Chester Zoo and operated by the North of England Zoological Society (registered charity no. 306077). Chester Zoo has pledged to fund all the administration costs for Act for Wildlife, which means your donation can make even more difference where it counts most in the wild. With your help, we ll make sure that the people working at the coalface of conservation - in the field - have the funds, training and support they need to stop species like the Asian elephant, black rhino, Bornean orangutan (and many more too) from being lost FOREVER. Act for Wildlife and the people it supports need your help. ONCE WE HAVE YOUR FORM, WE LL SEND YOU AN ACT FOR WILDLIFE SPONSORSHIP FORM. A tip on how to use a paper sponsorship form ask the person you think will sponsor you the greatest amount to go first, hopefully others will follow suit. Or at least give a little bit more than they would have done otherwise. Oh and, don t forget to ask your sponsors to gift aid their donation if they can it means more money for conservation and doesn t cost them a penny. PUT ON YOUR EVENT OR DO THE ACTIVITY, BUT MOST OF ALL HAVE FUN! COLLECT THE MONEY FROM THE EVENT OR FROM THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SPONSORED YOU. SEND US A PHOTO OF YOU FUNDRAISING OR POST IT ON FACEBOOK. IT LL HELP ENCOURAGE OTHER PEOPLE TO SUPPORT US TOO. AND FINALLY SEND US THE MONEY YOU HAVE RAISED.

HERE S A FEW THINGS ABOUT FUNDRAISING YOU NEED TO REMEMBER.. SAFETY Ensure that you only collect donations and sponsorship from people that you know and trust. Make sure children are supervised and do not collect money on their own or from strangers. If you are holding an event, make sure the venue is safe and don t forget crowd control. Think about security if you are carrying money around. Make sure adequate first aid cover is available and fire regulations are in place for larger events. LEGALITIES Do not do house to house collections this is illegal without a local authority licence. If holding a large event, check with your local authority whether you need to obtain any special licences (e.g. public entertainment, collection or alcohol licences). If you intend on doing a raffle / lottery check the rules with your local authority or the Gambling Commission. Act for Wildlife cannot accept liability for any fundraising activity or event you undertake. Most venues will have insurance to cover events organised on their premises but please check that any liabilities to the public are covered to protect yourself as well as others.
