SPONSORSHIP OVERVIEW & OPPORTUNITIES
FIGHT NIGHT 2017 PRESENTED BY UNDER ARMOUR THURSDAY NOV. 2 WASHINGTON HILTON The late Joseph E. Robert, Jr. started Fight Night as a way to marshal resources in support of at-risk children in our nation s capital. Fight For Children was formed shortly thereafter with the purpose of providing all children, regardless of their circumstance in life, with an equal shot at a great education. Now in its 28th year, Fight Night continues to fuel our work at Fight For Children, enabling us to serve thousands of children in-need throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Through proprietary programming, highly targeted student supports and a commitment to early childhood advocacy, Fight For Children continues to make Joe s vision a reality. With your support, Fight Night continues to grow - having generated more than $60 million since 1990. This year, Fight Night promises to deliver even more excitement including a variety of world-class artists, entertainment, and the introduction of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) for the first time ever. In addition, we re thrilled to have the continued support of our presenting sponsor, Under Armour and the leadership of our Fight Night Chairman, Kevin Plank. We hope you ll join us for another incredible evening, and help us continue transforming the lives of thousands of young children throughout our community. Keith A. Gordon President & CEO, Fight For Children
WHY FIGHT FOR CHILDREN S WORK IS SO IMPORTANT: AT FIGHT FOR CHILDREN WE BELIEVE THAT IF CHILDREN RECEIVE A QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION, INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORTS TO MEET THEIR UNIQUE NEEDS, AND COMMITMENT FROM THEIR COMMUNITY, THEY WILL HAVE THE FOUNDATION NECESSARY TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND BEYOND. Without a high-quality early childhood education, a child from a low-income community is: 25% MORE LIKELY TO DROP OUT OF SCHOOL 40% MORE LIKELY TO BECOME A TEENAGE PARENT Among the clearest indications of why early childhood education is so vital to leveling the playing field is the extent to which it closes the school-readiness gap so that all kids start school with the necessary skills to succeed. Arne Duncan, Former U.S. Secretary of Education 50% 60% MORE LIKELY TO BE PLACED IN SPECIAL EDUCATION MORE LIKELY TO NEVER ATTEND COLLEGE 70% MORE LIKELY TO BE ARRESTED FOR A VIOLENT CRIME
